I believe this restaurant is being underestimated. The quality of food is so good and the best thing about it is the taste and quality are consistent. You know what you are about to get when you step in to the restaurant. Service is good but there’s some room for improvement.

it was average indian cuisine, rather salty. Small portions, and the staff /service was completely rude. Felt like it was a problem that we were there eating at their restaurant. Slightly overpriced as well.

Average food! No match to authentic Indian cuisines. I have ordered chicken tikka masala and they used the gravy from butter panner. There was no balance of spices. All I could taste was curry leaves. Dal makhani was a complete disaster.

We had a craving for Indian food after a day of touring. So we figured let’s take a chance on this place. Huge mistake. Bland tasteless Indian food. Small portions served in bowls. Butter Chicken, fish curry. Burnt tandoori chicken dish. No real Asian Indian will like this place! Overpriced too! Service was good. Food was bad. Pass this one by!

Must have the veggie samosas, tandoori chicken, & chicken curry! Service is excellent and very personable. We will be back to eat here! Very authentic old school style curry from scratch!

I tried the Taste of Indian appetizer plate. Seemed like a good way to experience this place. Don’t know what I was thinking, getting an all deep fried dish as my lunch. The appetizers were ok. A little lacking in crunch but passable in flavor. It’s unfortunate that the various samples were piled onto a small plate. It was hard to differentiate between the veggie and chicken pakoras, even as I ate them. The samosa was ok, but I’ve definitely had better. I like the side of condiments that came with the dish, though the tamarind sauce was a little too runny so none of it stuck to the food. My friends all ordered the curry lamb and were quite happy with it so I’ll be back to try something else. As for service, again, average. The server did her job, and checked in on us twice, but just didn’t connect with us personally, even though we were chatty with her. Overall, this place was ok and we’ll probably be back.

Great service! And really nice food. I’m a student so I won’t go there too often because it’s not the cheapest place. I enjoyed the food though, and the naan bread was lovely. Pretty small space though.

Really good butter chicken. Garlic nann was good but could have had more garlic. Overall a great place. Quick take out service and friendly staff.

Taste of India serves my favorite Butter Chicken dish in downtown Vancouver. They use authentic ingredients, cashew nuts, and without all that sugar and sweeteners other places use. I also really like their Masala Dal, and Vegetable Curry. On top of that, the owners and staff are very friendly and always treat their customers well.

Delicious traditional Indian food try the garlic naan bread. Their medium spicy is fine, not to hot. The place is medium size so perfect to go solo, or no more than four. They have a high chair for kids but the space is a bit tight for a stroller. Best Indian food so far aince we moved to Vancouver.

We often return to eat here. If you want great portion size, great flavour and great value come here for Indian flavour. It’s not the nicest decorations but it’s authentic and you can also sit upstairs for groups of 18 or more. The servers were quiet when we started to go here and we though they weren’t good but they don’t write orders down and always get it right and look after us and our daughter well I would recommend this for Vancouver Indian dining

It was a miserable, cold, and rainy night for our last day in Vancouver and what a way to end the trip! Fantastic food. I eat an ungodly amount of Indian food and have had my fare share of good and bad. I could’t get enough. My girlfriend had a vegetarian dish she had never heard of and was heartbroken that we didn’t live anywhere near here for her to get an order to go. The staff was beyond excellent and service was great. We have recommended it to anyone we know coming to visit! The next time we are in Vancouver this will be a stop!

Went here for a weekday lunch last week, and found it to be an A-OK place to grab a lunch with co-workers. What is good: very quick lunch, decent portions, patio outside and very friendly service. What I’d like to see more of: SPICE. Come on, come on. If we ask for it spicy, put some kick in it. If we ask for extra spicy, my mouth should be on fire. I know this seems to be a problem all around Vancouver, but come on — if you offer different spice levels, you’re making a promise that you’ll be different.

Holy EXCELLENCE, Batman! Try the butter chicken; it comes with spiced rice and naan and is the best butter chicken I’ve ever had. Authentic, delicious food and cozy, casual atmosphere.

A great little place with a warm, friendly feel. The service was great and very attentive with no complaints. Tandoor here is great as was the naan. Definitely worth a stop in when in the area.

Extremely rude service and really mediocre food with OK prices. I admit that I didn’t go in here with an open mind – I don’t mind Indian food, but I wasn’t keen on getting it because they put so much cream in everything. Anyway, the party I was with really wanted to go in, so we did. We seated ourselves, the menu was thrown at us, and the woman serving us was staring at us angrily when she wasn’t giving us water. She never asked if we wanted anything else, either. They were playing Indian music videos the entire time, which I guess that some people might like, but it was just more of a nuisance for me than anything else. They *did* refill our water extremely quickly, though. Seriously like a racehorse. As soon as we were done with our water(or even halfway), she’d leap on our cups angrily but with fresh ice water.

Was flying solo, in town for a conference, and fellow Unilocalers directed me to this joint. Not going to win any awards in the décor department, but that usually draws me in where Indian food is concerned rather than putting me off. Based on reviews, I ordered the saag paneer along with some veggie samosas and garlic naan. The samosas were killer, flaky crust and silky filling with good spices and served with a few chutneys to enhance. Garlic naan was good, lots of flavor and just enough butter but I prefer my naan a bit more chewy and with a little more char on it. Then again, I ate nothing but street food for weeks while staying in Goa so perhaps I’m biased. The only disappointment was the saag paneer. I ordered it very hot(I’m a chile head) and in that respect it did not disappoint. Just the right amount of heat without overwhelming the taste. The paneer itself was creamy, slightly softer than I’m used to but likely homemade rather than the extra firm, almost crumbly stuff you can buy in the grocery. The saag unfortunately was not as fragrant or well flavored as I would have liked. It had a great spinach flavor and good texture but the taste was a bit flat, lacking the acidity and fragrant spices I’m used to. It was still better than 75% of the saag I’ve ever had, but not up to my expectations based on other reviews. It was also disappointing given the price, even adjusting for the USD to CAD exchange rate. Overall, a solid three and a half stars and likely the best you’ll find within walking distance of this neighborhood.

Lots and lots of vegetarian options here. I went with 2 coworkers, who are much more excited than me about Indian food. I like Indian food– but I don’t usually go out of my way for it. Anyway, we tried the sampler platter– samosa, pakora, bhajia, tikkea, kebab, and chicken pankora. Everything was well spiced and seemed fresh. For my meal, I had the lunch special Chicken Tandoori. It was average. Perhaps an easy place to top on Robson, but there’s other Indian restaurants to go to first.
