If I’m ever on death row, the Al Basha Plate will be my final meal. I’m pretty sure they put crack in the chicken spices, because I’m addicted. I have ordered the plate with triple-chicken before. Don’t judge me.

We recently found this place and I have to say that the customer service is excellent. They give you plenty of options and they start to recognize you even if you’ve only been there twice. The food is good and I personally always go for the Al Basha plate with extra rice and hot sauce.

It’s probably one of the few places that open till 2 am on the West side. I really like their Al Basha plate, and their staffs are nice too.

My three stars aren’t meant to be negative. I give Al Basha three stars in the same sense I would give my most comfortable pair of shoes three stars — they aren’t expensive Italian loafers, but hey, I like my comfortable shoes. My dinner companions and I needed food after too many hours of beer and deep philosophical discussions at the Coppertank Grill next door. They had various species of shawarma, all of them huge and halal. I had the falafel plate, which featured falafel in a bed of creamy hummus, a green salad, tabouleh and a frisbee of toasted pita. Good comfort food, just like Uncle Nassim used to make back home. Side note: It’s hard to gather four people around one of their tiny round tables, so don’t plan on having your holiday party here. On the other hand, we thought it would be a cool idea to meet here once a week, sit and eat and record a podcast. I kind of like the title«The Karma of Shawarma.»

I only tried the falafel here and to be honest it tastes nothing like the real falafel. Staff was nice though

Was looking for good late night cheap eats in Kits. This place sounded like a good bet due to high volume and quality of Unilocal reviews. Had the chicken shawarma wrap, one of my go-tos. It was subpar. Not offensive, just not good in any way. Chicken was dry and not super flavorful. Pita was out of a bag and not toasted. Donair comes out of a fridge and slapped onto a griddle rather than roasted and sliced freshly on a rotating spit. I really wanted to like this place and have good late night eats in Kits. But alas. Between midnight and 3AM and with a few drinks or other appetite inducing substances involved it’s maybe 3 stars by virtue of being the only non-chain food in open in the Point Grey /Kits /UBC area besides Seigel’s Bagels and closer to the Broadway bars. Any other time of day or location 2 stars. Service was decently friendly and it’s an OK hole in the wall décor and seating-wise at this price point. But food is just too subpar.

Previously a big fan of the place I went in today with my partner and ordered 2 falafel wraps. A larger caucasian fellow with blonde hair rang me up, then without washing his hands proceeded to hand-roll my felafel… ewwwww! I kindly asked him to please wash his hands between handling money and rolling my felafel. He angrily grunted at me and rush-washed his hands(not even) and rolled the felafel. Will not come here again, disgusting! A health violation for sure!

Very fresh and made to order. This is a small little restaurant in kitsilano. And not many restaurant like them open till 3am. Thumbs up. The meat was very flavourful. Their Hummas was super fresh you can tell its home made.

Had dinner here because of the many good reviews. However we found the food to be disappointing.

We dropped in for lunch and had the chicken shawarma. Excellent food, friendly staff, and very reasonably priced. Will definitely be revisiting soon.

Went here at 10pm on a Monday. They were closed. Aren’t they supposed to be open until 3am? What gives. Went back another time and they were open! The food is really good to be fair.

I came here on the recommendation of a few co-workers. Supposedly the best Chicken Shawarma’s they’ve ever had. And…it was, like the 3 stars say, A-OK. I don’t know it, but maybe it wasn’t my taste. There was nothing wrong with it per se… just…hmmm…maybe the expectations were set too high by my co-workers. I can say I’ve had better. But for this neighborhood it’s not that bad at all. I also had the Dolmades which were pretty alright. The place was decently decorated and this would be a good place to sit and just people watch. It’s not bad for a place on W. Broadway.

One of my favourite Mediterranean places, after my beloved Aladdin Café in dt. They’re both clean, higher-quality meats than the ones on Granville St. AB got an orange theme going on, décor-wise. Usually busy w/students fr UBC. friendly service. Located across from Ramen Sanpachi.

Best falafel I’ve had in Vancouver yet. By that I mean the actual fried ball part — so much tastier for some reason and more soft on the inside(almost less cooked in the centre but I liked it). Upon the advice of some friends I went here and ordered the«Falafel Plate» which I think looked like the best value and I’m glad I did. Everything was very fresh includig really good humous, tabouli salad, a small side salad and some nothing to write home about pita,. but oh those falafel balls! It came in just under $ 10 which I’ll accept for the best the city has to offer. I’m a big fan of that stretch on Cornwall for lunch,. this is the 3rd place to hold this spot since I’ve lived in Kits area(since the 90s, eek!), and whatever moves in,. is always good(and moves on to do well elsewhere).

First time at this place, and it was pretty decent. The rice platters were large, gave me 2 large pieces of pita and fresh ingredients, but were around $ 10. You could probably travel 10 mins by car and grab a cheaper, and equally fresh meal, in the downtown area. I don’t hate it, I don’t love it. But it’s a good place to think about if I’m in the Kits area.

This place is near a bunch of bars, so at 2am there’s a bit of a line. I had their chicken shawarma, and it was as good as the one I had in Turkey. For $ 8, it’s definitely on the small side. If you’re a hungry dude, you need at least 3 of these to be full. Super tasty though!
