A super neighbourhood grocery/convenience shop! Fruit, produce, flowers, tortilla shells, eggs, snacks, lotto tickets, canned tomatoes and beans … there are so many reasons why this tiny shop is a great place to stop for those last-minute ingredients. Their canned goods are on average the same price as the bigger grocers, but if this is in your neighbourhood, it’s a lot closer to home to lug those heavy groceries. I’m assuming all earth-friendly Vancouverites walk to the grocery store with a reusable bag like I do? If you do, you’ll appreciate any short cut that allows for carrying heavy things a shorter distance while paying the same price. This area of Fairview(Oak to Granville Street) is a black hole for big grocers — you have to go all the way to Cambie for Safeway or Save On, or way over to Broadway and Maple for the IGA. I might be craving home-cooked burritos really badly, but you think I’m going to lug heavy cans of tomatoes and beans all that way if I can buy them for the same price up the street? Hell no! Although this shop is pretty small and selection is limited, until they knock down the Toys R Us and build a big grocery store(and take out that awful sign-over-a-sign that is the eye sore of the Toys R Us), I’ll be returning — especially for heavy items!
