Pricey but tasty pies. Easy lunch. Sit in adjacent park or keep walking and enjoy on the go.

Tried one of the pies at the Food cart festival. Very delicious with lots of meat and veggies. Would like to try some of their other pies too. Very filling for a mini pie.

Had the mini Aussie Pie for $ 5. Wow this little thing is full of meat. The pie crust is not that fluffy but ok. Their pie was filling which I was hoping it would just be a snack and not a meal. This is a food cart style and sometimes it can be a surprise to find them. Definitely will order more pies next time I see them around. Their pies are good and I recommend trying

I had the Trifecta which had clearly high quality bacon and cheese in it. The red wine gravy was great. I’m very impressed by the pastry which is really flak, light and thin, but also strong enough to hold in your hand. All in all super tasty. The price is okay.

As I am not a meat lover type of girl… So I tried the savory Aussie Pie Guy(filled with apples). Soooooooo YUMMY! My friends tried the beef short rib pie and the Kanga pie(OMG…kangaroo meat). For 8.00 dollars a pie it was a good and delicious deal. And the line up was not to bad… But I can’t tell how yummy the meat pie was… I tried but was unable to open my trap… Haha! Simply cuz I can’t imagine myself chewing a little kangaroo piece of meat… But if you are game and like unusual kind of meat… Go ahead and you will not be sorry. Thumbs up Aussie Pie Guy!

Maybe I’m biased having just come back from NZ — the other land of pie, but I just wasn’t blown away. I know everyone has discussed the price factor($ 8/pie) and for sure that’s a bit steep. Your average pie in NZ is going to cost $ 5. and that’s for the gold medal winning pies… so given this factor, I went in expecting something epic. And honestly it wasn’t all that epic. My pastry was soggy, and there was lacking a real delivery of flavor. I will say that the meat was tender, so that was nice, but the actual flavor itself just didn’t do it for me. I love me some pie. I mean, whenever we go home I get right fat off of pies(mince n cheese, steak n cheese, bacon n egg pie. mmmm) but this just didn’t do it for me, and my heart broke a little. Also, though I love all of the gourmet twists, I really wish they had a few more standard classics. It’s just one of those things — sometimes simplicity of classic recipes is just that much better. Extra bonus points for selling Bundaberg’s though. I would track them down for this fact alone. Anyway all that to say, in a pinch. sure, I’d have a pie, but it would almost actually be cheaper, and more delicious for me to make them at home myself.

My last review was taken down for some reason. To sum it up again the pie is crap the service is deplorable. Save your money and go else where. Usually a good truck worth visiting parked near by this waste of time.

Best part of the pies is that they aren’t oily on the outside. Safe to handle with your hands, with or without a napkin. You eat it like a burger, but without the messy spills. Basically $ 8 per pie, which is steep unless you consider that a sit-down restaurant burger is probably $ 12($ 11.50 + fries that cost the restaurant maybe 50 cents). Hit and miss here. Stick with«simple» «one-filling» pies. I had their rotating special Kanga pie(kangaroo meat) and it’s simple, deliciously marinated pulled meat. Misses include Shane’s Pie and the Sweetie Pie, which was a total waste of money. You can get a tastier 8 inch Farmer’s Market apple pie from Superstore for just 1 dollar more than their small party-size Sweetie Pie.

As the name says: awesome Aussie pies. Savoury, meaty, tasty as hell. I think I want another one right now.

Shane’s Pie is their signature pie, comprised of «tender free-range BC beef short rib and vegetables with a red wine au-jus and apricot hoisin sauce over mashed potatoes.» Sounds like a delectable concoction of flavours, doesn’t it? It sure didn’t disappoint! The exterior pie crust was flakey and soft, and wasn’t too thick. The beef short rib was as advertised: very tender and extremely lean! The red wine element was rather subtle but was augmented by the tartness of the apricot hoisin sauce.

Love the pies, guys! I had the Shane pie which was a healthy mix of beef and potato and a few other goodies. I’d like to say the pies are delicious! But the price is not. I can see those selling for around $ 5 each but $ 8? No wonder there isn’t a line across the street. Tasty, but not on my wallet. Only for a treat…

While I appreciate the efforts to bring the infamous Aussie pie to Vancouver, nothing will ever beat the real thing! But the Aussie Pie guys give it a great effort, and also bring variety with the different types of pies on their menu. I went tried and true with the Aussie Pie. It was just ‘good’. Crust was buttery and flaky. Very filling. But not worth $ 8, though I do also appreciate that the ingredients are not cheap. Tip — be prepared for a nap after. Like I said it’s super filling and a bit heavy, for such a small pie.

Chook Pie(Local, free run chicken and mushrooms in a creamy white wine sauce) $ 84⁄5 — comfort food! I like their pie crust. It didn’t say anywhere that there were onions =( Sweetie Pie(BC apples and cinnamon with a layer of creamy vanilla custard made with real vanilla bean) $ 43.5÷5 — not overly sweet. The vanilla custard made the pie better. I thought I wasn’t full after having the Chook so I decided to get a Sweetie. This was a mistake. I was stuffed afterwards.

We don’t have Aussie food trucks near Portland that specialize in these pies, so I figured this would be a great introduction. Aussie pies resemble personal-sized pot pies. Most choices here are savory, but there is a sweet apple pie option(appropriately called the«Sweetie Pie»). All pies are $ 8. I really liked the«Aussie Pie,» which had juicy chunks of BC beef. You can get it «epic» for $ 2 more: a scoop each of mashed potatoes and mashed peas, and a ladle of gravy. The gravy(containing a locally brewed ale) admittedly made the pie soggier and tougher to work through without a knife, but the flavor was great. I don’t think that«epic» option would work well with the Sweetie Pie, but in a weird way, I’d try it. I think with the quality of ingredients(namely the beef), it was worth the stop.

Who ate all the pies? Not me, because I live in Canada now. The lack of a decent pie is a sad, sad story for anyone from the UK and Ireland. Until Aussie Pie Guy pulled up his food truck outside our office. Every week I go and get the same chook pie with mash, mushy peas and gravy. Chookin yum, man. It’s flaky and mushroomy and chickeny, basically everything I am looking for. It is however a little steep at $ 10 for a pie and topping. It’s a small pie and it’s a foodtruck so I feel this pricing is a bit cheeky. I’ll probably still go and eat there, because, you know, pies.

Worth the special trip just to try it out. Lots of flavours to choose from, so pick up the frequent«pie-ers» card and try them all. They have a gluten free option of the Trifecta pie that I had. It was«Epic» meaning I added the mashed potatoes, gravy, and mashed peas to it for an extra $ 2. Came out to a round $ 10 that was worth not only every penny, but every step to get there.

First, let’s talk about the pies. They’re great! Lots of flavour, melt-in-your-mouth pastry, and organic and free-range ingredients. Plus you get your pie immediately rather than having to wait several minutes as at other food trucks. Now let’s talk about the price. IMO, $ 8 for a handmade pie with quality ingredients served up in seconds is a deal. You get what you pay for. If $ 8 is too much, there’s always the frozen food section at Safeway. :-)

Yes it is expensive, however, I trust my girlfriend who is Australian that these pies are good. Her mom came to visit this weekend and it even got the Aussie mom’s seal of approval. I agree that $ 8 a pop is expensive for the pies, however, considering that these are hand crafted pies you get what you pay for. You can buy frozen in 4’s that are cheaper, however, who wants to realistically wait to get home to eat these? These had chunks of meat in it and the taste and quality was there. They guy in the cart was really nice.

Aussie Pie Guy serves some pretty awesome pies, but I think they’re a bit over priced. The pies aren’t really big, they’re more of an appetizer size(at least for me anyways) than an actual meal. For lunch, one pie wouldn’t be enough. I’ve had both their Shane pie and their Aussie pie(both at $ 8 a pop!). The pies have a puff pastry top, making it very crispy and flaky. The bottom is a simple butter crust. It works very well together. Their Shane pie was my favourite — beef short rib, veggies, red wine au-jus, mashed potatoes. Great flavour and very tender beef. The Aussie pie consists of beef chunks and gravy. The beef chunks reminded me of a dry beef shank. It was a little bit tough, but still not bad. The gravy was nice, but didn’t really wow me.

Finally a truck out there that serves one of my favourite foods — pies. I like pies so much I’ve hosted pie nights where every meal had to be served in the form of a pie. As a former kiwi I grew up on these little guys and nothing makes me homesick more than thinking about a good meat pie. This food cart is pretty simple, they just sell pies. I only tried the Aussie Pie and I must say it was pretty darn delicious. The crust was nice and flaky and filled with beef and gravy goodness. They have a bunch of other flavours but to be honest I’m all about the more traditional pies. I would love to see a mince pie on the menu. I also appreciated the speed of this truck. Since there really is nothing to make here it’s a matter of sicking your new pie in a paper bag and you are set, so unlike most food trucks you really can grab something quickly to go. When I was there they were giving out Tim-Tam’s, perhaps come winter time they should sell one with a hot chocolate so I can have a Tim-Tam Slam with my pie on the cold days.
