Yuck. No one wants to be here. But after an (unmasked) patient coughs up a lung next to you in St Paul’s ER and then two months later you suddenly convert to a positive PPD, then you’re really glad this place exists. You need a referral from your regular doctor, but the process is quite smooth and straightforward. Of course it’s a medical clinic and appointments run behind schedule, etc but my overall experience has been good. I’m fortunate that I’m a voluntary participant since I have a latent (non-​contagious) infection and not active disease, but I’m not interested in taking any chance of developing the full thing.
The staff are all friendly and competent, and when I ended up traveling for an extended work project while on continuous medication, they liaised effortlessly with the TB clinic in California to coordinate my ongoing care. Needless to say, I feel more confident in the public’s chances for good health after dealing with this public health clinic. They are really good at what they do.
