I like most of the various Beans but hadn’t tried this one. I love it: friendly service, relaxed inviting atmosphere, great coffee, reasonably priced good food, local art on the walls. I’ll be back.

I would highly recommend this place on the strength of their baked goods. I am a bit of a baked tooth, and when I’m having a craving, this is my first choice. Excellent muffins(quick start and pumpkin spice) and scones. The coffee is so-so, and I have a pet peeve with coffee shops where when you order an americano they ask if you want a single or double shot(as they do here). I don’t know — you guys are the supposed coffee experts, just make me a damn good coffee. How is it that other coffee shops just make me a good americano without asking how many shots to put in it? Anyway, if I’m on the run, I will often make my own coffee at home and grab a baked good. Worth it for that alone.

I come here for coffee sometimes, except the fact I don’t really drink coffee. So i usually order a hot chocolate, nothing special for a few bucks. It is located on Main and close to Broadway. I like the big windows at the front and inside looks OK but no renos required. Comfort wise is not the most comfortable as all the chairs are hard wood. It is a good place to chill with friends and fumble with those wooden block games. They are nice to let you sit there for a whole night with a just a drink. If you want to bring your laptop or play on your phone, make sure you sit close by the wall with the wall plug-ins for battery. They also open til late at 1am whereas other coffee shops closes way earlier than that. They also have munchies/pastries/cookies available. The only thing i hope for is that they would offer more varieties for munchies and their cookies to be more chewy. Street parking available.

Such lovely and attentive staff! Awesome arrangement of GF goodies, and baked items are made in house! Place is always pretty clean. Great spot to grab a latte and study — open late too! Some more GF food options would be nice though, like wraps or sandwiches. Did I already mention that the staff are awesome?

I was craving a hot chocolate and found this café on Unilocal because it was open late(I went out at 11pm). I was worried that the service wouldn’t be so good because in my experience with other cafes, the baristas get cranky later on in the night as closing time approaches. Not so at this place! The guy that served me tonight was really attentive and patient with me while I decided what to get: a hot chocolate with almond milk, and a lemon iced tea. They were both made really well. 5⁄5 for both beverage quality and customer service. I didn’t take my phone when I went, which was disappointing because he made a really nice bear latte art on the top of my hot chocolate foam! Really impressed, will definitely go again. Won’t hesitate to recommend to my friends either.

This location is more spacious than the one on Main &20th however, I still like the Bean on Main &20th more.

I love this coffee shop. They have plenty of outlets to plug in your laptop — unlike the many other coffee shops in the neighbourhood. Here they don’t mind you staying for hours. I love that they have glasses and a pitcher of cold water for patrons staying to work or study. Staff is very friendly, coffee is great, good selection of snacks and pastries, good high speed internet. It often gets very crowded in here but if you find a spot you’ll want to stay for the rest of the day.

I went here because 49th Parallel closed at 10 and I wanted to continue my Scrabble binge. It was pretty full, mostly of people studying or on their laptops pretending to study, so a seat was hard to come by. We had to sit at an awkward table next to the door and the chairs weren’t that comfortable(I was also 40 weeks pregnant at the time), and the cold air came in with each person coming and going. But again, they were open later so I got some tea to suck it up. The tea selection was pretty minimal, service was just okay. There’s also no sign or indication that you need a key for the bathroom, so when the door is locked you could easily just stand there forever thinking someone is in there. I’d go back if it was the only thing open again. The food looked decent too, but I didn’t try any of it.

I really enjoyed the British Fog! With soy, it is so delicious :) The Blueberry Apple Pecan muffin is SO good, I would get it any time. Berry Bran is okay too, it is more grainy and healthy-tasting. You can get wi-fi access 3 hours at a time with a purchase, which I think is just fine.

I come here often for study dates. The coffee is good and reasonably priced, treats are tasty, wraps and sandwiches always fresh and the staff are friendly. What else do you want in a coffee shop? Oh, yes! They are open late!

I love their muffins. It’s the best of any place I’ve tried even high end bakeries. Love the warm cozy atmosphere and consistent friendly staff. I cannot have coffee but having a little taste of mocha and latte proves to be delicious. I’ve tried most of their baked goods and sandwiches and all have surpassed my expectation. I use to bake as a profession and their bakery is fresh and has the right sweetness. I’ve paid more at Butter Baked Goods and other frou frou places and they were terribly sweet. It can get busy and I’ve always have a disdain for people who use the tables for laptop work/play/waiting to be picked up. But thank goodness I usually do a take out. I didn’t realize they open late until I read other reviews. Kewl!

One of several coffee options around Main Street. Parking is available along Main at night, as well as the side streets. The interior is quite plain, but the furniture is of decent quality. There are some armchairs as well as the usual tables and chairs. Staff are quite quick, and friendly. My coffee was of decent quality. No complaints there.

Much more comfortable, cozy atmosphere compared to a Starbucks/Timmys. There’s a fireplace lounge seating area and liked their wall bench seating in the back, in a L shape. Lots of ppl watching here for sure. Patio seating. free wifi. and a good crème caramel too ;)

Scrumptious and strong soy lattes with cute foam art. My first time receiving foam art on my latte. What a sweet surprise! I didn’t even ask for it. Staff are warm, welcoming, and quick to assist you. Ambiance inside is cute, chill, and perfect for studying or catching up with friends. Awesome place to be at!

Great little place to study or just chat with friends. Staff is friendly and the atmosphere is pretty laid back. Coffee is good and pastries are scrumptious. There’s usually always seating available and power plugs all over the place, so naturally it’s a hotspot for students. I’ve always preferred Bean over the Waves coffee next door mostly because of their 24 Hour service, but as of this past week they now close at 1AM. Although this isn’t a problem for most people, I’m a night owl so I wasn’t too thrilled about the change. Understandable though, because after about 2AM it’s almost empty.

To be completely honest, I only go here because it’s the only place I can count on finding a table and a seat. Most of the nearby coffee shops are packed on a Saturday. It’s a family-run coffee shop, so I feel good about supporting them. It’s also relatively quiet compared to other coffee shops — the majority of patrons seem to be students or old people on dates. Classify under HIPSTERREFUGE.

Extremely rude counter person who freaked out at me when I referred to the barista wearing winter wear(and coat) while brewing coffee. I wasn’t taking a picture of your precious product and cannot believe your reaction. Too many better experiences at other shops await.

I normally don’t write reviews on major chain coffee shops, however, there is a reason why I continue to go to this one on a weekly basis. 1. Free Wifi so that I can work on my zine articles while waiting for my best friend to finish his shift at the record store across the street. 2. They have a punch card deal which is incentive enough for me to come back since I buy a lot of tea. 3. They have gluten free pastries. 4. Their other baked goods for the price are well proportioned. 5. Awesome staff with a wide variety of characters. 6. The other patrons are easy going and relaxed and sometimes while I am working if I need a break chatting up with a stranger is easy. 7. They don’t care if I over stay my welcome to finish writing some articles.

With the overflow of coffee shops along Main, it’s hard to decide where to go. This location is one of my favourites. Especially on those crisp chilly nights. There’s a coziness that the newer trendier shops don’t seem to offer. The coconut tea is yummy and tastes like dessert in a warm mug. There’s also quite a nice selection of sweet treats. I like the chokolate lavender(I’m pretty sure they spell it with a k). Silky. decadent. with a smattering of nuts. They have couches, tables and chairs but, I enjoy sitting at the window for the people watching. Also nice to just plug in and read for a couple of hours. Now that the colder weather is approaching, I’m sure I’ll be spending more evenings here. Bonus. it’s 24 hours and… free wifi!

By the time Friday rolled around I was BEAT. My brain was desperately crying out for some sort of stimulation… and that is where the magic of coffee comes in. I’m not usually a coffee drinker but when I heard this place offered gluten free goodies and dairy alternatives I was all upons! The service was friendly and patient. In my tired state I come across as totally confused with everything. I don’t know much about coffee so I can’t really tell a good cup from a bad one. The lady was smiling and happy to answer any questions and point out all the goodies that were my style. Since my brain was shanghaied I appreciated the low key décor. And my fiancé looked hot sitting at the rustic wooden table by the window. He had a latte and a brownie while I had a medium roast coffee and a chocolate truffle. I put some almond milk in the coffee — score! — and the truffle was sugar free — double score! Best of all my brain was like YESSSSsssss for the next 3 hours. My sis visited it the next day since I so highly recommended it. And I noticed they had gluten free banana bread. Who doesn’t love to stuff their face with that solid gold item? It’s so sweet to have a coffee shop that caters to the needs of my retarded stomach. I look forward to frequently haunting this place on my tired nights.
