Really friendly owners and staff, able to do a walk-in. Best hairwash and temple/neck massage I have ever had actually from Donna! Bella’s haircut and style were perfect, I felt great and looked even better. Very attentive and the whole experience was so inexpensive I offered more, it was worth more. Super spot on East Hastings.

A friend recommended me this location for cheap cuts and it was around my area. Staff/Owners were extremely friendly and definitely cheap cuts!

I’ve moved on! Went there twice this week for a haircut. On both occasions, they closed hours earlier than posted closing time. The latter occasion, I actually called ahead of time for an appointment, only to find out that the shop was once again closed upon my arrival. Went down the block to Kim Loan’s for a $ 10 haircut, comparable cut, only downside is it didn’t include a wash(and it shouldn’t for only $ 10), but hey, at least they stuck around till closing. Bye Bella!

I have never written a review on Unilocal, but feel like it is my civic duty to inform the public about this horrible place. If you want your hairdresser to throw a magazine of the«100 Cutest Guys» in your face and insist that you pick a style even though you know exactly what kind of haircut you want, then go to Bella Ra. If you want your hairdresser to completely disregard your opinion and tell you what’s best for you, then go to Bella Ra. If you want your hairdresser to shave your facial hair without asking and do a horrible job, then go to Bella Ra. If you want to have the worst experience of your life getting something as simple as a haircut, then go to Bella Ra.

This salon is very friendly and welcoming. I’ve gone there for haircuts numerous times for myself, my mom as well as my 5 yr old. The owner/stylist was so attentive and careful with my fussy child that she had her sitting still for the quick haircut. Inexpensive and she does a good job.

My first experience was a pleasant one considering I haven’t been to the hair dressers in 5 years. I didn’t want my hair cut too short as I like long hair and she did cut it a bit short for my liking. But I figured it was because I had many split ends or something. It was down to my breasts and she cut just above my shoulders. Both Bella and her husband were incredibly nice and offered me beverages as I waited. I don’t remember the price, but I think it was only like $ 15 maybe. Definitely under $ 20. The low price was why I decided to go there and she did make my hair look beautiful after she was done. I forgot I could look like that. I have no complaints with the service or the way she cut my hair although I notice from the reviews that she does like to take a lot off so perhaps this isn’t the best place for someone who is just looking for a trim. I’d definitely give this place a try at least once to see how you like it.

I went to get a haircut today, i waited over to a half hours to be seen by the main and only stylist Bella. I asked her to for a simple trim and nothing else no other styles. She proceeded to tell me what she thought I needed, as she thought that i need a bit more trimming around my face. I agreed and i told her i want my hair to remain long, and only wanted a trim. After a while i heard a lot or mount chopping and u immediate knew that there was too much cut off. of typing going on ice sorry to cut my hair i told her that i had too much coming off. When she finished I told her it was too short and I was not happy. She never apologize to me and and then proceeded to show me the hair that was on the floor and told me that i had told her at the cut that amount of care of. I was very upset i do not want short hair and i have always had long hair. My hair now looks like it did when i was in grade school not what i wanted. She didn’t apologize even offer to give me a discount or not to pay at all since it was clearly upset. I will not be going again. Warning to those that do got… Be firm in what you want… As the boss is very pushy on what you think you need. Go at your own discretion.

I’ve been getting my hair cut at Bella’s for almost a year. Tonight as I walked by the salon Bella and Sam invited me in for tea. Talk about hospitality. So, it has me thinking about why I love going here. Bella left a prosperous hair salon in Toronto(for 30 years!) to follow her family to Vancouver. It reminds me of my own grandmother’s journey — an Italian immigrant with a successful hair salon in Hamilton, my nonna packed it up in her 50s and along with my nonno, they followed their son who had put down roots in Vancouver. They started over, finding new connections here. And that’s what Bella and Sam talked to me about tonight– connection. Kind stories about their new customers, how people are traveling from PoCo and Surrey to see her. I think you should go here, too. For some reason Hastings-Sunrise has a dozen hair salons in this strip. But they don’t seem to be competition for Bella Ra. Maybe it’s as her husband Sam said tonight, you have a choice: you can go to a place that knows how to do one haircut, like a variety store. Or you can choose the salon, where someone knows how to make you happy. Because Bella is a very, very talented hairdresser. She’s funny and warm and generous, and talented with the scissors. She really wants you to love your haircut. Let me add that I am not a fussy customer when it comes to my hair. Mostly because I didn’t think anyone made it look very good. But now I know what it’s like to have someone pay attention to it. And like other posters have said, it’s a treat to have someone wash it(who knew!). So now when I come home, I feel good, not awkward. I also like that it’s a neighbourhood place. My neighbours can go here, and I see them: folks with 3 kids who appreciate the value, teenagers who show her on their phones what they want, seniors getting their hair set, the regulars from the grocery store. There’s no fancy signs on the outside — but then again, who needs that. Now you know the inside scoop.

For the first time in history… a hairdresser did exactly what I told her to do(exclaimed both my partner and I). We came in and had our hair washed and dried before the cut. She does dry cuts which is something I’ve never experienced but would prefer to do from now on. I got a bit weary when she started offering me hair style magazines because all I wanted was to take the damaged ends off and define the layers b/c I am growing my hair long. Turns out the pictures where just for basic reference. She did exactly what I wanted, cut off only what I was comfortable with and didn’t put a ridiculous amount of product in my hair or try to sell me anything. My b/f was terrified. He has long hair and stylists tend to want to f%# with it all the time. Not this time! She did exactly as requested. Perfect. We will be back. I shopped around to get an inexpensive but good stylist and even groupon’s were 39.00 because I have long hair. I wanted something simple. I don’t need wine with my haircut or some cushy lounge with cucumber water. I just want my frizzy dead ends off. Mission Complete.

I moved to Vancouver a year ago and was on the prowl for a place to get a decent men’s haircut for a fair price. I stumbled upon Bella Ra and for only the second time in my life I got a haircut that I liked on the first go! Usually it takes 3 – 4 butcherings before a hairstylist gets it close to ok. And on top of that it was only $ 10! This was an introductory special and I’m sure it’s gone up but not by much I do believe. I also felt really comfortable and at home at this place and the owner and her husband are really sweet and she is up on current styles. It’s starting to feel like getting a haircut from family:) Going back this week for a trim!

Love it. I’m a guy and Bella gets the haircut right, and for a cheap price. She also has a great sense of humour. I’ve been having my hair butchered for years by people that don’t listen or don’t care and can’t do the simplest trim. This place is fantastic.

New business in the HS area. They are trying to capture clients with low prices and long hours. A real mom/pop place but the hair mags are super current and they seem able to keep up with the latest styles. They kept my TEEN happy — need I say more.
