I’ve been going to the bars on kits over the last couple of years looking for good craft beer, so when I stumbled onto the Biercraft at UBC after class I was pleasantly surprised by the choice. 32 Beers on draft and students get a 15% discount too and the food was still great quality. After our next exam we will definitely be heading in for a beer, to say hi to Jane, she was great

After spending most of the day tracking down the Penguin, i decided to grab a bit to eat at a restaurant, cause Alfred has been feeding crap meals at home… like salads and protien shakes and brussel sprouts. I went to BierCraft in disguise, as i usually do. I had ordered oysters to start(cause i was gonna hook up with Catwoman later), followed by a lamb shank. I also got one of the most rarest bottles of beer to enjoy with my lamb shank. The freshly shucked oysters were pretty damn good. About 10mins later, my lamb shank arrived with mashed and baby carrots. First of, the lamb shank was huge and had a great demi sauce poured over top… it went well with the Westvleteran beer i ordered. The freakishly tall red headed server tried to sell me one of the desserts, but i was stuffed and i still had to go out and fight crime, which is hard to do on a full stomach. Great value and service from this place… wish i could say the same about my date with the Catwoman

Good selection of beer & nice décor — that’s it. Enjoy a beer, but eat there at your peril. If a place can’t even prepare a burger and fries so the burger tastes pleasant and the fries are hot, then why bother. Also tried the prawn tapas, but it was more like an old boot tapas. Very disappointing.

Out of the three times I went, I was disappointed. 1. They served me a burnt burger. It was so bad I could only eat the meat patty. 2. After waiting 25 minutes for my onion soup, it came out cold. 3. They gave me the wrong change. Compared to bad college restaurants, Biercraft certainly measures up to THAT level. Do not bring your girlfriend here. She will dump you.

I went for lunch here with a friend and we both loved our drinks(a beer and a mixed drink), but the food was very bland and overpriced. Definitely would not eat here again.

Beautiful décor & lovely patio here! We came here for brunch because we had heard good things about the brunch here. The Farmer’s Skillet was delicious, with lots of meat, potatoes, and topped with 2 eggs in a sizzling skillet pan. The salmon eggs Benedict was decent, with fresh salmon and a tasty hollandaise sauce, served atop a croissant. What I loved best was actually the side of hashbrowns — they came in all sorts of different shapes & sizes, and were cooked to crispy perfection! Great service here too, friendly servers who checked on us often.

Awesome servers! Very polite and checked on us regularly. Never let us have an empty glass. The atmosphere is very casual and laid back. Dim lights and wood tables make it very relaxing. Lots of great beer from around the world. Will be back to visit here in the future!

BierCraft obviously markets itself as a purveyor of gourmet food and beer, but my experience was lacklustre. The food is quite expensive, so I went with one of the cheaper options: a pulled pork sandwich with fries($ 13). The pulled pork was dry and bland, while the fries tasted stale; however, they seemed like they may have been good when fresh. In addition, the food took a surprisingly long time to come out, particularly given that it wasn’t busy at all when I visited. In hindsight, perhaps I should have ordered something other than pulled pork(the mussels seem popular), but I was pretty disappointed. On the beer front, this is definitely a place for people who like European beers and have deep pockets. They do have a limited selection of local craft beers on tap, but their prices are quite high and their pints disappointingly small. I could accept the price and size for a rare Belgian beer, of which they have a huge selection, but it’s not justifiable for a local beer. On the plus side, they have a nice patio and, really, there aren’t many other options for a beer around here.

We are a British couple in our 40’s staying at the University on holiday. I love my craft beer and was in heaven in this place. We sat outside and were attentively waited on. The beer selection is amazing. I had two of the samplers and a couple of rare bottles I hadn’t seen before. They were a little more expensive than we paid for similar in Victoria but not unreasonable. My wife and I both had the mussels. Her Thai curry version was one of those food combinations that make sense as soon as you see them on the menu and it didn’t disappoint. We had bread and delicious skin on fries with our mussels — both delicious. We had room for dessert, the cheesecake and particularly the toffee pudding were very good. We will probably head back tonight to try the burgers. For beer lovers the Goose Island Sofie(750ml, $ 22) was a treat for the taste buds.

The burger was great and so were the fries. The service was really good too. All around solid place. If you’re in the area I would definitely recommend it.

Good spot near UBC considering the other options available. Try the beer flights, they offer a variety and good for anyone wanting to sample a bit of everything. I liked how they separated the bar/lounge area and the seated restaurant. Two different atmospheres depending on the mood.

Great place on UBC campus, especially you are a late night food hunter. Walnut caramel cheesecake is awesome.

Another good place to treat yourself on UBC campus. If you are a seafood lover, you probably want to check it up. They have a lot options of mussel. I haven’t tried them on, but I did tried calamari. I just like the taster of it. For people who have small stomach, you may want to go with friends or ask to take out
