I came here this past Sunday for a late lunch and was lucky enough to score a seat on the patio. It was already 3 pm by the time we still had to wait about 15 min to be seated. As usual, I was famished by the time we were seated. Luckily, I didn’t have to waste any time deciding what to order … because MACANDCHEESE. Our waitress told us right off the bat that all of their cheese dishes were very popular. This made me very happy. I proudly ordered the Mac and Cheese and a Caesar(because why not? And because they have $ 6 Caesar specials on Sundays!). My boyfriend ordered the El Cubano Sandwich that was stuffed with braised pulled pork, spicy Capicollo ham, mix cheese, grainy mustard, and garlic pickle relish. It also came with a side of kale salad. I took a couple of bites of his sandwich to try it out. The meat was very flavourful and soft and the sandwich was good overall … but didn’t come close to my Mac and Cheese. My Mac and Cheese was piping hot and fresh out of the oven … just the way I like it! I like having Mac and Cheese while it’s H-O-T(hot to the point where you could burn your tongue if you’re not careful). That way, the cheese is ooey gooey and melted just right. This Mac and Cheese was loaded with aged white Cheddar; simple and classic. A common criticism I have for mac and cheese is that it’s dry or it doesn’t have enough cheese. The macaroni here was soft and very moist, but not mushy. There was just the right amount of cheese and the taste of cheddar was not too overpowering. I also loved that they had bottles of Sriracha sauce readily available. If you are a fan of mac and cheese, please do yourself a favour and try this one! Read my full review with pictures at

We stumbled upon this place as we were strolling down the main st. The food was amazing. I ordered chicken pot pie with the kale salad. It was absolutely delicious. The food is really flavorful. Would definitely recommend this place to my friends!!!

Ugh I don’t want to give Burgoo a mediocre review. I really really don’t. They have delish comfort food and most days there is little to complain about but… I ordered their Mac and More. When our food came(restaurant was packed so I understand the initial wait), my Mac n cheese was cold. Like previously frozen… cold in the middle… cold. I told our waitress and she was apologetic and took it back to the kitchen. Fast forward, about 20 minutes later, my partner shared bites of his sandwich with me, and we had finished that dish by the time, my hotter Mac n More arrived. Needless to say it ruins the dining experience when you’re not eating together. What surprised us was there was no discount, let alone comp-ing the Mac dish on the bill. While the server was apologetic for the delay, one would think you’d take a drink off the menu, throw a bit of a discount or somehow reflect some goodwill for the less than spectacular dining experience. This restaurant is not cheap and they’d do well if they read some of the reviews on here and fixed their dining experience.

The staff yesterday was just over the moon. the French onion soup is incredible and a must have. They don’t take expect a line up, even for lunch. but it’s worth it. Definitely more than comfort food.

Burgoo’s sandwich and soup combo is always so comforting to my tummy! The food is just amazing and the price you paid for the combo is reasonable. If you like lemonade I recommended you to try their strawberry lemonade, it is delicious!

Great service with yummy comfort food to go with it! The wait time was about 20mins which is on average for any restaurants without reservations: The menu had unique comfort food. The dos diablo is definitely a must try dish if you love crispy sandwiches! My partner and I loved it! You can have it accompanied with a soup bowl for a combo for $ 17. The crab bisque was flavourful and great to have! My partner tried the mac & more with butternut squash soup — the soup has an acquired after taste which we we’re not fond of but of course it’s not for everyone. Would recommend people to try this place if they are looking flare great comfort food! :)

This restaurant is just walking distance from where i live but this is just the very first time i got a chance to pay a visit… not so big place with patio sitting available. Neat place i love the decors and the inside of the place, i called it wooden restaurant because its made out of big chuck of wood i love the ceiling and all the small frames lining one part of it. theres a touch of classic effect on its look. Clean place they have a bar that serves full alcoholic beverages, parking is by the street and metered one, wifi is free and take note not slow,… Service is excellent for me. server had broad knowledge of what they are selling. quality comfort foods… I ordered the beef bourgignon with rice, it is traditionally prepared with red wine braised beef, caramelized pearl onions, carrots and mushrooms. it was delish the meat is so tender and it tasted so good. i had few drinks aswell… Noise level is average im not sure at night time, busy place there was no line up when i came in but in the middle of my meal people started to come in groups… The place is not that big but i would say its good for group, family and kids, Accept card, debit and cash. For sure i will be back soon i wanna try all the sandwiches they offered im sure all of them are good…

Great place for comfort food, there isn’t another restaurant like it in the city! Do yourself a favour and order the macaroni and more, simply amazing! We also ordered the crab bisque, so delicious especially on a cold, rainy day. Also, if you’re into hot sauce, Burgoo offers Matouk’s(Caribbean style hot sauce), which is simply delicious. Great service and prices are very fair. We’ll definitely visit again!

I have the say the atmosphere of the restaurant was the key. The food is not extremely«wow» with the price I’m paying. I tried their Salmon Sandwich as well as the Salmon salad. The first time I had the salad I found the salmon tasted very dry. My next visit to the restaurant, I thought I should better give it a second chance by trying the salmon sandwich…“SAMEDRYNESS!!!”. It’s kind of a disappointment for a salmon lover like me. For soup, I order the tomato base Crab bisque. Unfortunately, I think the taste of the tomato totally covered the crab’s(or may be the taste of crab was not strong enough. I am almost confused if the chef didn’t put enough crab meat/shell to make it tastes better.(Another disappointment)). The restaurant does not take any reservation for small groups. The 2 times I went there with my bf and another time with my aunt, we had to wait for an hour for a table from 6:15pm. We had to spend our time and money to go sit at the nearby coffee shop to kill-time. My point is, you gotta be a «super fan» in order to make the 1 hour commitment. Is it really worth it? It’s your call. Will I go back? Only if I have super good mood that day and if the weather is super nice. =)))

As a vegetarian a appreciate any indication on the menu if items are meatless. Unfortunately there wasn’t any sign to represent vegetarian dishes. Thats okay, no biggie, but than their menu got confusing. I ordered the Burgoo and Eggs. which on the menu is stated: Burgoo and Eggs, BUR our Kentucky Burgoo oven baked with biscuits and scrambled free run eggs, finished with melted Cheddar and Mozzarella. No indication that there is meat in the dish. Had my first couple of bites to find that there was meat in the dish. Not happy about that. The waitress proceed to tell me that the«burgoo» is something that is a classic on their menu and its known to be a heavy stew. I am a first time customer and had no idea that is what«burgoo» meant. I thought it was a play on the restaurant name. So a heads up to vegetarians!

Excellent food, décor, and service. The food is an inventive slant of traditional European and North American fare(lots of French, British, and American options). The soups, salads, and entrees are all satisfyingly inventive. The soup and salad combos are a great option of lighter meals or lunch. The Main location interior has a very warm and welcoming vibe, with lots of wooden beams and pillars that are more in keeping with older European restaurants. It’s a great spot on those colder Vancouver nights. Drink options are the weakest part of the menu. There’s decent, but not spectacular drinks specials each day. The $ 5.50 Kentucky Lemonade, for example, is less a cocktail and simply lemonade and house bourbon — not particularly something to shout about.

Been wanting to try out Burgoo for the longest while after seeing countless shares on my friends’ Instagram feeds. The place certainly doesn’t disappoint! First thing you’d notice of this particular location after stepping inside is how cosy the place is. From the décor to the wooden architecture, you automatically feel warmed up and ready to enjoy a hearty meal. I ordered After School Special($ 17), which gives you the option of one sandwich and a cup of soup. I chose the Gooey Cheese Griller with the Chicken Itza soup. The Griller was a complete cheesy goodness slapped between two crispy pieces of baguette. The Chicken Itza was a Mexican-inspired soup made with tomatillos. I was slightly upset with my decision because it didn’t pair nicely with my grilled cheese at all. If I had the chance to try again, I’d pick their butternut squash or classic tomato soup. Wanted to also give a quick shoutout to the Sunset Corn and Chicken soup! My friend ordered this with his sandwich, and it was simply delicious! Will drop by next time and try it myself!

I have been living in Vancouver for a long time but I have never tried this popular restaurant Burgoo, so I went for dinner with my friend who has never been to this restaurant as well. My friend told me that there was always a lineup at this restaurant, so we went there and expected to wait for a long time, but we only waited for about 10 mins or so in the end. It was not too bad. The restaurant was busy though. My friend ordered a Manhattan clam soup and Tastiest Chicken sandwich. I ordered a Crab bisque soup and Dos Diablos sandwich. I tried both soups and both sandwiches. I found that the Manhattan clam soup was more salty and thicker than the Crab Bisque. Crab Bisque got real crab meat though. Both soups and sandwiches tasted great. Both the soups and sandwiches are very filling. We had to pack some soup and a small portion of the sandwich home. The only thing I didn’t like was that I was very very thirsty after dinner the whole night. I had to keep drinking water to dilute the sodium or MSG in the food.

Food 4⁄5 Service 3⁄5(they don’t really check up on u after the initial ask). It’s so dark maybe they cannot see your arm up Lobster bisque 4⁄5(salty) Gooey cheese crunch sand which 5⁄5 Wow what a great grilled cheese baguette style sandwich Great soup, real lobster in it The environment is chill. It’s not that noisy and I can hear my friends speak when they talk! Bonus Comfort food to the max. I definitely want to try the other items here as my friend tried the ratatouille(she is a gold elite) and she liked it even though it had no meat in it. Cool chill spot

In Vancouver, when you think of comfort food, you think of Burgoo. Fact. The beef bourignon is my fave. Pulled pork sandwich aint bad. The mac n’ cheese is FABulous with the added bacon and peas. I love the grilled cheese sandwich paired with the onion soup. Absolutely delightful. Service itself ranges from average to spectacular. Overall… 4.5 stars

I highly doubt at this point that Burgoo needs any more fangirls/boys singing its praises but who am I to deny myself the opportunity to gush about my beloved? I love Burgoo so much that I would happily slap a bumper sticker to the back of my car that reads«My kids aren’t on the honour roll but have you tried the stews at Burgoo? They taste better than my children’s success!» I have never tasted a single thing on Burgoo’s menu that I didn’t immediately fall in love with – everything, and I mean EVERYTHING is spectacular. If I had to choose one meal from Burgoo that would make me fall to my knees it would have to be their grilled cheese and french onion soup. Together, in harmony. What it lacks in nutrition, it makes up for in ooey gooey cheesey perfection. Not only is the food delicious, but the staff are top notch awesome and despite the restaurant being on the small size, they have always happily accommodated my reservations for larger parties.

A rainy day, and in particular, after a weekend of rainy wet camping with the kids — Burgoo, you are my saviour. The family and I popped by this location on Monday afternoon after some extensive camping(we probably looked like we needed a good hot meal) and was taken by surprise at how busy this place was on a work day. However, we got in just in time, so only waited 20 mins(bonus!). This location is a lot smaller than the Kits restaurant, but this adds to the cozy and intimate feeling of the place. In classic family style action, we ordered a bunch of plates to share. This included the classic, and ever popular, Mac and Cheese(my personal favourite — and yes it was wonderful) and also the crab bisque. Whoa. Make that two crab bisque — we had to get another one after the first bowl. My 3 year old daughter practically licked the bowl clean. Cheddar and chive biscuits — so good and fresh out of the oven. As an appy we decided on the shrimp cheviche which was, «okay». It was fresh, but lacked in flavour. Overall though, the experience was great, and kudos to the staff here for dealing with(1) the crazy amount of people waiting for tables, and(2) the seemingly crazy amount of families with small children that come to this location(including ours). You guys rock and take it all in stride. Amazing.

Mediocre food, but good service and patio seating. Here are my thoughts on the food that I tried: Cheddar and chive biscuits: These were the exception to the mediocrity. They were served hot and aromatic. The taste of the cheddar cheese, black pepper and chives worked well together in a light, buttery scone-like biscuit. Tasty Chicken sandwich: Just a bunch of diced chicken, diced bacon, diced apples on a piece of crusty bread, squirted with some Dijon mayo with some greens sprinkled over top like an afterthought. The ingredients didn’t blend together, and I’m not sure why all the ingredients had to be diced… Apple crumble: Average tasting crumble with the peel still on the diced apples. The vanilla ice cream was not great and it had a bit of that ‘freezer taste’. Tl;dr: The cheese and chive biscuits were excellent, but the I wouldn’t recommend the chicken sandwich nor the desserts.

This place is very warm and cozy. But I don’t think it can accommodate big groups. Been here at least over 10 times and not once have they disappointed me. I love almost everything on the menu. the Irish stew is the only stew(not complaining) too much lamb meat and too super filling. I can only eat half. Yesterday I had the Beef Bourguignon and it reminded me of when I was a kid my mom would make beef stews in the morning in a slow cooker and coming home at night with dinner ready. The good old memories. Love it! If you come here you have to order the home made strawberry lemonade. Its no kidding delicious. You won’t be disapointed.
