I used to work in the coal harbour area and back then would come here during lunch time to buy ice cream. Back then it was really good. So I was in the hood and decided to come by and was a bit disappointed. Back then because the place only opens in the summer time and in the winter time it was like a warehouse or basically closed in the winter time. So back then I would look forward for the place to be open. So got the amerato and orange and was disappointed. The taste is no longer the same. I think the place have been sold and there is new management. Its now owned by an Asian family. But the taste and flavor are different. They used to have really chocolately flavor. Well now not anymore. Will I come back. Well there are not a lot of options that is near the seawall. But again, unless I am really desperate for ice cream. Otherwise, I would go somewhere else.

this place reminds me of some gross places I visited in Hong Kong, they should start their business from cleaning their kitchen up

While the sign says«maybe is the best gelato in Vancouver,» I’m here to tell you that it’s not. It’s not bad and your kids will love it, but it’s clearly not not homemade and I would consider it average, mass-produced gelato at best. If you are looking for the best gelateria in town make sure to head over to Bella Gelateria down by Canada Place. On the plus side, it has a great location along the seawall so you can grab a gelato here and enjoy it while walk along the harbour.

I always forget that some businesses care 0% about pleasing the customer, and 100% about making maximum profit. This strikes me as one of those,. basically assuming that a tourist will happen by a great location once, and never need to equal repeat business. This is evident when the quality of the gelato and sorbetto is clearly in a race for the bottom of the cheapest kind a franchise can buy. In addition to an awkward entryway, I was particularly distressed by the way when the guy in front of me pointed out that he ordered a different flavour than was scooped and the girl dumped his scoop back into the tub(for another customer?), and then put the«right» scoop on his tired cone still wet from the original flavour. Were these not inflated tourist prices I might be able to just say«cheap gelato is cheap gelato» but there is no need to settle for this place IMO. Bella Gelateria,(voted best gelato in the world by Italians!), is exactly 1.1km away along a beautiful pedestrian path. Just sayin!

No good. A tourist trap basically. Over priced poor products. Unless you’re just going for ice cream. $ 8.99 for a spicy Italian panini. 3 slices of super thin meat on between 2 soggy pieces of bead. There might have been some sort of spread on it. Couldn’t taste it. Garbage. Soup was poor too.

Middle of the road. Run by Asians. Friendly people, although hard to understand. Location is superb and the rest is all about you’re expectations. We just went in for something to fill our stomach with before exploring the city by bicycle. We both had a grilled panini sandwich. Not very special. Average. Big portion considered the price. The man who helped us suggested to make it a combo for a dollar extra. We took the offer for the, again, middle of the road coffee. And again, big(almost) a bowl. All together, no dissapointment, but no wow either. (Please forgive any spelling and grammar errors. I’m no native speaker and my IPhone keeps trying to autocorrect to Dutch words.)

It’s always location, location, location when it comes to real estate; and«Casa Dolce» is a prime example of why that works. This is an ice cream shoppe located along the boardwalk at Coal Harbour. With only a limited selection of gelato and sorbetos they still do a pretty decent business. Their customers come as tourists or visitors to the area. And«Casa Dolce» provides them with a quick treat on a hot day or a little snack on a late night. Summer nights like tonight they are pretty steady and stay open later as necessary. Today we came for their ice cream. A cheap dessert after a pretty expensive and unsatisfying meal at a neighboring establishment. They told us they were closing at 10:30pm and welcomed us in. It was not until later that we found out their hours were only until 10pm. There were two soft spoken Asian girls behind the counter. They did not rush me or my indecisive guest. Instead they suggested we try samples to see what we liked. It was all pretty standard. Shallow pastel spoons that looked like little shovels. Ice cream available in children sizes, or single and double scoop. Waffle or sugar cones for those wanting a little crunch with no waste. Or little fluted bowls that matched the colours of the spoons. We got their sampler«for here». A bowl with four child sized serving scoops of ice cream, of our choice. We ordered the Tiramisu, Ferraro, bubble gum, and mint chocolate chip. Out of a possible Maple walnut, Blueberry, Blood orange, Bounty coconut, Vanilla, Chocolate, Raspberry, and a couple other pretty common flavours. All in all nothing you couldn’t get anywhere else. Once again for this stop it was all about the location. We enjoyed our melted scoops in the warm weather, looking out into the seas and skies of Coal Harbour. These sort of places do really well in hotter seasons, and survive in colder month by offering more. Here at «Casa Dolce» they also do your standard café breakfasts. Handheld snacks of cookies, cakes, and a slew of designer coffees and teas. And for lunch they offer soups and salads, sandwiches, and wraps. Once again all pretty ordinary, but with no other businesses around providing anything similar, it is a pretty solid business plan.

The experience nor here or there. Small shop that served the purpose. Decent service at great prices. The selection is slim, however, my best friend and I walked away with a good selection of cheery gelato. We shared a scoop before the Mother Mother shop.

I’m so bummed that I’m updating my former review. I’m not sure what’s happened here but a couple things seem to have went down hill. I visited twice in the past week(my first time this year) and had lackluster gelato both times. Tonight, we each ordered a scoop in cups and had to laugh as we walked out of the store. I had a full scoop of pistachio and Joe only had like half a scoop of nutella. Two different people scooped our gelato and clearly they have much different opinions about what constitutes a scoop. Joe got seriously scammed, it was barely a children’s scoop, if that. Next, the flavour. The pistachio was sweet but that was about it. It didn’t have any real taste. The nutella was likewise sweet, but if I were blindfolded it could have been pistachio. Now I no longer have a dependable gelato shop nearby. Summer is going to suck this year.

I think I was lucky that I had relatively positive experience at Casa Dolce. Having been grosssed out by the gelati at Mums on Denman Street, we thought we should give our local haunt a try. After all, we pass by Casa Dolce all the times when we take our stroll along the seawall in Coal Harbour. We were offered numerous samples. We decided on something simple — pistachio for Allen and mocha for me. They were dense, rich and delicious. I can easily get one on the way towards the park and another one on the way home.

Steps to having a bad experience at Casa Dolce: 1. Walking in to see a grumpy lady behind the counter who clearly did not want to be working there. 2. Asking for a sample and receiving a tiny taster that you can barely taste 3. Lady Impatiently rushing me to make a decision 4. Feeling bad for taking so long so I had to make an impulse decision 5. Choosing a gelato that looked under chilled and not wanting to ask for another taster, fearing her dirty look. 6. Receiving the gelato that was already forming a puddle in my cup 7. Looking over and seeing my boyfriend’s gelato scoop bigger than mine 8. Tasting my gelato and it was kind of gross and extremely artificial 9. Tasting my boyfriend’s gelato and was significantly better and yummier than mine. 10. Finishing my gelato and wanting to throw up.
