Always high quality and by far the best commercial space in Canada but I still haven’t seen a show here that made me feel the way high grade chocolate melts in my mouth.

Catriona Jeffries first opened her doos in 1994 onto Granville Street. There, its programming was very conceptual and based on showcasing the link between concept and practice. When Vancouver’s storied Gallery Row became prohibitively expensive, Jeffries closed shop and re-opened at here, at 274 East 1st Avenue. The new venue is exponentially larger and better suited as a platform for showcasing work, thus cementing its role within the Canadian and international art community. When I last visited, they were in the midst of installing an exhibit. With its large walls and open space, the tone of possibility hung heavily in the air.
