Couldn’t find Dunbar Appliance number so went on the website to find. Amazed at the client who complains that the Don, the repairman came 20 minutes early, I have waited for Shaw all morning! Also, the comment about Don the serviceman«smelling» is just so wrong. I hire Don because he is efficient, skilled and reasonably priced. After a disaster hiring a furnace repairman from Craigslist I am grateful to have Don at Dunbar Appliance looking after our appliances. I remember him telling me he was raised in Dunbar and wanted to work in his community, so rare these days!

I do not recommend Don, although he is well spoken, he is extremely rude and terrible to work with! He arrived at my house 20mins. early to fix an appliance, I was upstairs and didn’t hear his knock. Came downstairs and noticed him in his truck doing paperwork at 10-minutes to my appointment time so waited for him to come in. He knocked at 3-minutes to my appointment and yelled at me for being late! «Oh, you are here?! I was just about to leave! It says on my website that you MUST be available 15-mins before and after your appointment time!» He comes in and proceeds to go up my carpeted stairs in rainy/dirty boots. I ask him if he wouldn’t mind removing his boots to go upstairs? His reply«Yes, I mind very much!» From there he mumbles frustratedly under his breath as he heads out to his truck for boot covers. He goes upstairs, starts working– and yells«piece of garbage!!!» upon seeing my washer. As he works he continues on with cursing/swearing as he goes. It was a very uncomfortable hour spent waiting for him to finish up. On top of this he smelled like a wet ashtray, a scent that lingered long after he left. The washer needed a part, and so he had to come back the following week. This time he was just over a ½ hour late for my appointment. Apparently the 15-min rule only applies to clients. He sees that I had pulled the stacking washer and dryer out of the closet to remove/replace the damaged flooring over the weekend, and says, «I won’t have time to install these, I will make the fix and supply the new dryer vent pipe but you will have to install.» This was not going to work for me since I had a BIG load of laundry to do before heading out of town the next day. In the end, I suggested it would only take me a minute to re-stack and slide the machines back into the closet– then asked if he could please ensure the hoses are properly hooked up. He said nothing… kept working, and in the end did the installation. As for the expense, I could have replaced the washer for the cost of replacing one simple piece.

Don from Dunbar Point Grey Appliance does an ok job, but he is overpriced. He installed our new dishwasher and charged $ 219 plus tax, even though I had removed the old dishwasher already.
