Homestyle food and atmosphere in the downtown core that is worth a stop. I ordered take out a chicken salad sandwich for lunch. Choice btw brown or white bread and I got the works(lettuce, tomato & cucumber.) The sandwich was perfectly wrapped in plastic with the toothpicks to hold things together. A side rippled original Ruffles chips in a little baggy was included too. Delicious sandwich with fresh ingredients that was packaged with intention which made it somehow taste even better. A mom and pop shop. Pop knows most regulars by name. I’ll have to give him my name next time. Wifi is free. Service is nice and polite. I think I received 10 «thank you’s» during my short wait. There is the Belly Loyalty program. Order ahead of time using Foodler. Chicken Salad Sandwich cost $ 7.00. Cash or Debit.

Very cheap hole in the wall deli, however, they have lots on the menu and the prices are very cheap and reasonable. They’re cash only. My only issue is the language barrier and getting my initial order request wrong ’cause of the barrier, however, after all was said and done my stomach was happy on the cheap.

My new favourite lunch place near my office. Even on my third visit the lady said«oh my, good to see you again». Very unassuming, quiet, chill. I get the sandwich and soup each time which is always good quality, consistent, and quite inexpensive. They are always very quick with the order and taking payment. Nice little place; try it out.

Always a warm and friendly greeting at Edelweiss. The staff are wonderfully cheerful, the atmosphere is casual and relaxed, the sandwiches are deliciously good value and I really should treat myself to their breakfast one day. For a warm welcome and a pleasant all-round experience, this is a gem!

Typical deli/sandwich food, it’s been awhile since I ate here, but walked by recently to see they still have a casual relaxed atmosphere, with lots of spacious seating so you can get some work done, quite quiet after the lunch rush. Seems to be here for decades. Located right in the CBD. They do offer delivery too.

Helen & Bob are such kind, happy proprietors and truly care about their patrons. I order very little food here, as I’m often in a hurry, and I don’t frequent the shop like I used to but they still remember my name. They make every random drop-in for a rum ball worth it! PS — Great rum balls!

If I worked downtown, this would surely be one of my rainy day hiding spots for lunch! Indeed, the owners greet most patrons by name and even if they don’t know you, you are welcomed and treated like a guest. I can’t go all the way and give it higher than 3-stars because to be honest, it wouldn’t be for everyone. However, I was thoroughly charmed. I was encouraged to take my time and think about what I’d like to order(thankfully no one was waiting behind me – I was so hungry that I couldn’t think straight!). I ordered a roast beef on sourdough and grabbed a can of Coke, paid and had a seat. It seems like people who dine in pay after their meal but I didn’t know this. The sandwich came with the little baggie of chips as Leah V. noted in her review. The sandwich was made with very fresh ingredients and simple and homemade. I would imagine this place gets quite busy in prime lunch time but even at 2 pm on a Tuesday, a steady flow of people came through. The gentleman beside me was eating a particularly nice looking shrimp clubhouse. They also have breakfast items available, from a regular two-egg breakfast to omelettes and French toast. The clientele is non-fussy, not pretentious. I think people go here for a meal made with care and to visit with the people who work here. I’d give my money any day to a place where it is obvious that they like what they do. They play CTV news on a TV in the corner and there’s a pile of newspapers near the cooler where you can help yourself to a can or bottle of pop. It’s a nice space to sit and have a good, simple meal in a genuine atmosphere. There were other times that I attempted to eat an early dinner(before a night class) and they were closed… I think I probably tried around 5 pm so this is a strictly daytime place. The hours make sense to me, given the food on offer.

Wow — I’m only the 2nd person to review this place — unbelievable! This is the best little sandwich spot you’ll find in the downtown core. Bob and Helen own and run the shop. Bob remembers every single customer’s name(honestly remarkable). You can go there once, tell Bob you name and then go back 6 months later and he’ll remember your name. They have a soup and sandwich deal everyday. It’s a delicious homemade sandwich, and they give you a little baggie of chips. Go for the service! Bob will be the«pick you up» that you need. Always cheerful, happy, and genuinely appreciates your business. They also have delicious coffee!

I can’t believe there’s not a ton of reviews for this gem. This has to be the friendliest breakfast joint in Vancouver. It’s like a small town diner in the heart of a big city. The owner/operators Bob and Helen know virtually all of their patrons by first name. The menu choices are cheap and tasty. Although I live in Victoria and only get here once or twice a year, they know my name, what I always order and leaving me feeling like I’ve just come home. Check it out!
