I saw this reviewed on the front page of Unilocal on December 27th and book marked it for future reference. It is walking distance from Commercial Broadway station. From the outside it doesn’t look like much, almost like a hole in the wall which is more likely why I’ve dismissed this place a few times here and there. I came in there with a girlfriend of mine shortly after the new year as she wanted some hang over food for some late partying. Very cheap basic breakfast. Most combos are under $ 8 which is also friendly on the holiday wallet. Décor is semi unintentionally vintage. Coffee is okay for diner coffee. This is more of a cheap filler place than gourmet, however, we need more places like this in the city. Service was friendly.

I actually am quite surprised that there are none reviews at all for G&L. May be it’s just too ordinary & nothing worth to mention? Ok, I will make the first move, before GL was the Banners, which also features the same traditional American meals for more than a decade. My first visit here was not disappointing. Free parking, warm welcome, bright dining room with large tables, lots of choice on the breakfast menu, very generous portion(actually too much for ME with the regular order) with fair price. Fortunately I noticed on the sandwich board(not seen on menu) that they have the Breakfast Special for $ 4.95 which consists of 2 eggs, 2 sausage or bacon or ham your choice, 2 pancakes or toast. The ideal size for us small eaters! And seriously where can you find a decent breakfast for under five bucks these days(I mean not for Seniors’ Specials)? All in all G&L provides very decent food with decent price and will feed you & your family… On the side note, my server is a very pretty young Asian girl that qualifies for the next Miss Vancouver Pageant :)
