Today for my lunch i pay a visit to Goldilocks, intense craving for dishes from my motherland philippines. this place is an Icon for authentic pinoy dishes, a place frequently visited by diverse clientele specially asians… filipino place to be… i had pansit palabok, fresh lumpia, fried lumpia and empanada… plus my never out of list to go the braso de mercedes cake… foods ate still good im satisfied… the only problem today is service is kinda slow…1 man show actually well infact theres lots of crew at the back… it took me morethan 30 minutes tobplace my order. plus the lack of discipline for pinoy clientele to line up properly adds on the slowness of service… accept cash/cards, free parking at the rear and underground… dont forget to register your car by the counter or else… u know what will happen to your car… neat place, noise level moderate… will visit again sion i just hope nxt time service will be fast

The worst customer service I have ever faced in my life in Canada, I went there yesterday to buy a birthday cake and after asking couple of questions about the flavour and the price of the cake and about if they can write what I want on the cake which they said NO, I decided to not buy cake from there. But just a second after I said thank you for your help and decided to leave the bakery sale person behave super rude and this is why I will never go there again and never recommend this place to anyone.

Does not taste authentic like the Goldilocks back home in Manila. Food is pre-prepared and just heated up when you order. Not fresh at all.

The food are not made fresh. I ordered pancit palabok and got in a plate molded like its been frozen and reheated. Not going back there again!

I bought a cake because someone recommended this place. The cake was old and was not good at all. It looked great but the taste was just not fresh :(

Came here with the fam on our way to and from Whistler. This isn’t the first time I’ve eaten here but had similar experiences. Well if you are from the Philippines this is a true taste of home. They serve the main Filipino dishes and my parents/relatives really enjoyed it. I myself am Filipino but I don’t really eat the food but regardless that won’t affect this review. I got the Filipino style Spaghetti, Lumiang Shanghai and a Pork Skewer. It tasted ok but my main issue was that the food didn’t seem warm enough. The spaghetti was pretty dry and flavorless with barely any meat on both visits! The lumpia was also not really warm and I got the smallest container for sweet and sour sauce. The pork skewer was also not that warm with too much sauce and not much flavor. So I wasn’t that much of a fan of my meal. But the bakery side is always on point and the Mamon tasted very similar to the ones when I would visit the Philippines. But I feel everything is way more expensive in the bakery than it should be. So overall I wouldn’t come here unless I was forced to and the bakery is the only thing holding my 3 star for this place. If you enjoy authentic filipino food then this is a place you should check out.

The restaurant is half bakery and half fast food chain. On one side you have your cakes, breads, and pastries. Refrigerated showcases of delicate flowered cupcakes, pastel frosted cookies in pink and purple, and cakes blank and ready to be pipped on with a celebratory greetings. The restaurant side was labelled overhead with an «Asian Cuisine» sign. Under it is a heated glass counter. In it, pre prepared dishes. Premade meats with rice or fried noodles boxed up and ready to go. But if you choose to dine in the exact same dishes are available plated and warm, ready for eating. Not being able to make heads or tails out of the chalk board menu and not knowing how anything tasted I relied heavily on the young Filipino girl who serviced me from behind the counter. I took her suggestions and she took the time to give them. My multi item order was assembled at the counter, then placed on a fast food tray. On the tray was an image of their logo with their«Goldilocks» mascot printed on. I took this to any table to eat in peace. Utensils were self serve by the cash desk, and a tank of water with glasses was available to the side, for those who wanted it to help themselves. If you can’t finish your meal ask for to go boxes to pack it all up. I actually thought it was cool that their styrofoam boxes came in black instead of the more commonly seen white varieties. Would I come back? — No. I am not a fan of Filipino cuisine, it shares a very similar spice pallet with other Asian cuisines that I prefer and can get else where. The food was made ahead of time and kept in a heated counter, and it showed. Had the food been made to order, my answer would have been different. But from what I understand, the cooking process of Filipino food is lengthy. In order to have their food fast, this is the only way they could accommodate their customers. Would I recommend it? — If you are Filipino this is the place for you, though I am sure they all already know this. Authentic Filipino dishes made like how they would be done in the Philippines, prepared and served to you by Filipinos who speak the language and know the culture. In fact I was the only non Filipino guest during my Friday lunch time visit. But for the non Filipinos, not familiar with the cuisine, this is a good place to start. Like me if you don’t know what to get, you can ask and be given great suggestions by staff knowledgable, with first hand information. Everything I had came to under $ 25, so if you get something and don’t like it, it wouldn’t put too big of a strain on your wallet. You can’t say you don’t like it if you don’t try it.

I love Goldilocks so much because I love Filipino food. Now I’m giving this 4 stars, even though it’s cafeteria style, because I love their cheap prices for a super quick lunch when I’m in Kits and the food is delicious. I love the BBQ pork/chicken skewers and the Chicken Adobo! They give you free steamed rice to go with it. I’ve been craving adobo so much lately that I made it at home twice this week and it was just as good as at Goldilocks(at least that’s what I tell myself!) One side is a bakery and the other is hot foods. I’ve never tried the bakery items as I’m not into sweets/desserts, but word of mouth says it’s great.

Just based on two items, the pandosal bread, which is a B rating compared to my fav at Aling Mary’s, though they have a bit more variety here; either brown & gluten free, or both… Other is their turon, a deep fried banana w/some sweet caramel, kinda sticks to your teeth but if you’ve got a sweet tooth, you can’t complain like me, it’s pretty yummy. I hear from my filipino friends it’s considered on the higher end, but for the location, view & comfortable seating area – like the different sections & booth seating… and it’s pretty spacious as well as their display of goodies. Kinda tough to find parking here esp. during rush hour but have a few spots in the back alley. They also deliver too, online.

if you know what pancit, adobo, afritada, and lechon are then indubitably you will know Goldilocks, AND chances are you are from the Philippines, have lived there, have a friend, significant other or spouse from there. Otherwise, I am not sure how you would ever end up or know of Goldilocks. Goldilocks is a chain from the Philippines and they make my favourite pork BBQ. I come here for that and juicy, fatty, pork skin, roasted baby piglet(how awful does that sound for you?) called lechon. I LOVEIT. It’s total cafeteria style, ladies in hair nets and all. You come to eat, not the ambience, the plates. No sexy Cactus Club waitresses here. Now, the other side of Goldilocks is their bakery, which is what they are most known for. They make extravagant cakes, every single birthday cake design you can think of from mutant turtles to barbies and floral bedecked wedding cakes. Their display case alone is fun to go look at. My son wanted his birthday cake from here, their chocolate delight, and for the first time ever, every single kid wanted seconds and the entire large cake was gone(only 7 kids!!). When I was younger I was a fan of their mocha cake too. However, I am not a fan of their vanilla cake, bleagh. For the adventurous, the purple(yup) ube cake is good. Do not be daunted by the purple, Barney was/is purple. If you like sweet buns, the Filipino pandesal are buttery and sweet, slather on some butter and its delish. Give it a try, this is personal palate. Filipino food is very distinctive, either bordering on the sweet or the vinegary. Not for all. #30daysofyelp 16⁄30

I am not a fan of their pastries and walked by on the way to the bus. The establishment looks nice and the pastries are nicely displayed and colorful, however, the pastries themselves leave me a bit to be desired. I have had traditional Filipino pastries and some of these are it and some are misses. The prices are fair and the staff are really friendly, very refreshing considering at the Main Street location they all act as though they would rather be somewhere else. Awesome flan to go, the next best thing to crème brulee.

For Filipinos Goldilocks is more than a childhood fairy tale… I grow up loving the treats that family and friends would bring back from the Philippines when I lived in Winnipeg, so when I moved to Vancouver my family and I were very excited to have a Goldilocks. The bakery is OK, I like the polvoron and the different types of buns, cakes but that’s it. I’ve lived in the lower mainland for 7 years now and have yet eaten at the restaurant side, Ive only had the bake good and treats, one of the reason is I’m very particular when it comes to Filipino food and for the price I can make it at home. Side note I’m Filipino. But I had visitors from Winnipeg who wanted to try out the HaloHalo and some of the food. So I agreed, we had 4 regular halo halo, palabok, menudo, rice, 2 turon, fresh lumpia. The food was OK, bland as I predicted. Halo halo was such a disappointment, it needed more stuff leche plan, sweet beans so on and no ice cream? And it wasn’t sweet enough, and they added jello for filler come on!!! So if you’re looking for good Filipino food I recommend going somewhere else. I don’t think I’ll be coming back. If you get a chance to go to the Philippines than try Goldilocks there because it’s a different experience and food is so much better.

I grew up in Manila and I know how to find out when the dish has been sitting around and waiting to be ordered by some fool. Unfortunately, im the fool today. I ordered for the first time a Pork Binagoongan(pork with shrimp paste). When I opened it, it comes with un-skinned egg plant and old Pork Binagoongan because the meat is already tough and too many tough pork skin versus the meat. I ended up with Pork BBQ, which I find tasty. Not bad at all. but the main dish was terrible!

Sit down to eat food(Filipino cuisine). wasn’t that great. I actually feel a bit sick right now :(so i’ll give that a 1 star. Its hard to see all your food as well, and they keep it out, so you never know how long its been sitting there for *eeps, my tummy just gave another lurch* I left with one of their sylvana cakes tho($ 1.95) a slice. Its a hard, cold, pastery. which is very delicious and creamy and crispy. That i give a 5 star! Balancing this out to a 3 star :) Will go back for their sylvana cakes. and probably leave it at that.

When I was growing up in the Philippines, Goldilocks and Red Ribbon were the 2 generic, for the masses kinda bakeshops prominent around. Although there were several specialty bakeshops around(my mom used to go to 2 that were more high end), whenever we wanted something that was easy to get we would always get it from Goldilocks or Red Ribbon. The cakes are deelish, the pastries are fun and tasty, and the food was pretty good. With something to compare it to, the Goldilocks here isn’t even a close match to the ones I got accustomed to. Sure they have the same colorful and fun pastries, serve the same savory dishes and have the same grand cakes, but it’s decent at best. It’s not like it’s terrible; I’d still go there and eat whenever I want accessible Flip food. Be sure to check out the selection of Filipino pastries and treats at the bakeshop half of the store. This is their best section. My absolute favorite is the Polvoron, a treat similar to a shortbread and the Mamon, a light and fluffy pastry that’s perfect-o for my sweet tooth. Try the Ube stuff as well, that’s tasty And the Sans Rival. oh my damn that Sans Rival. Google description for Sans Rival: Layers of cashew meringue sandwiched with French buttercream, and topped with chopped cashews. A very rich dessert from the Philippines. Yep, sounds about right. Parking around this area is a b**** though. You could try parking in the garage at the back alley. That’s where my friends and I usually park when we go.

The bakery shop is good, but their food is awful. It’s not authentic at all, and it doesn’t even look clean. The prices on both ends are exorbitant — I realise that some of these dishes are painstaking to make, but all the same, the prices aren’t reasonable, especially for the quality. My mom cooks Filipino food all the time and just looking at some of this stuff, I can’t identify it. It’s probably a regional variation but I thought that all Goldilocks recipes were standardized, and having eaten at Goldilocks in Manila, it just doesn’t match up. My biggest beef about Goldilocks, especially this location, is the awful customer service. I actually had one of the ‘servers’ whine to me about having to go to the back to retrieve some more mamon, and then pointedly ask for a tip. They’re also really rude and unhelpful, and I can hear them make comments about my boyfriend(who isn’t Filipino). The Main street location is slightly better, but also doesn’t carry as many things — however, it’s much cleaner, and my few experiences there have always been positive. Filipino food around Vancouver is scarce — at least, we haven’t been able to find any good places, besides Aling Mary’s — but I’d rather go without than go here again.

I like their cakes! I always get the ube(purple yam) cake. They make a fab decoration, really pretty! The cake is purple, but it’s not too sweet andcit is sooo good! I tried their Rainbow cake too, little bit too sweet for me. I like their buns too, but they are sweet and buttery! A good treat for me once in awhile but not everyday!

This bakery/restaurant is pretty interesting. The décor is great and it’s clean. The baked goods looked too good to eat. I didn’t go there for dessert but I went there for the Phillipino food. My friends and were hungry and we didn’t want to eat at Earl’s or Joey’s. So out on a whim, we never tried phillipino food before so we said«why not!». They have it set up so it’s a order and pick up on the spot, like food court style. Everything has been pre-cooked and the food just needs to be set on a plate. Even though everything looked great, what I didn’t like and will never go back to this place is that the food was greasy, salty and very sweet! My taste buds were instantly falling off my tongue! I think I was in the sugar coma for the rest of the day. It was just gross!

Located in Vancouver, BC this is the closest Goldilocks Bake Shop from Seattle, WA. I went here just recently for the first time. It was nice taking a snack break here! The only time I can get my hands on treats from this Bake shop is from traveling to the Homeland in the Philippines, where you see Goldilocks on every street corner and begin to almost hallucinate and wonder where the three bears are hiding! O. o California has an abundance of Goldilocks Bake Shops, but for some reason, Canada knows how to make a tastier batch of Goodness :-) Now I wonder if I can get stuff from this location delivered home? I certainly stocked up on Polvoron — Similar to the English Shortbread; a mixture of toasted flour, milk, butter, and sugar cooked and then molded. I Also grabbed a couple Mamons — A soft and fluffy French Sponge cake; the«Special» variety is brushed with butter and sprinkled with cheese and sugar; also comes in mocha, chocolate, and ube(purple yam) flavored variety. Goldilocks Bake Shop — Vancouver, BCV6J1X6 Thank you for bringing back child hood memories :-)
