Stopped in to this place with some friends. I ordered 2 drinks that came to about $ 14. Gave the bartender a $ 20 bill. I was about to put a loony in his tip jar but this arrogant kid just took the $ 5 from in front of me and threw it in the jar himself! What the heck was that?! I looked at him with utter disbelief and he just walked away. Tall, skinny, young bartender that was as rude as could be. I will never go back there just because of this. He did not deserve that much of a tip and for him to just take it was unacceptable. Waitress was good but the bartender was a punk. Totally rubbed me the wrong way. Never going back. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else.

Friday night, 6:30pm…We had a hour before a show across the street so 5 of us met here for a drink and a bite. Ordered drinks and food as soon as the waitress deemed to serve us. The drinks took about 15 mins(we saw the waitress go behind the bar to pour them because the bartender was busy chatting his friends up), but we never got our food. The menu has all of 10 things on it, and they’re all easy to prep things(pizza, wings, etc) so we were surprised it was taking a long time. Then we saw that the people who had just come in got served their food so we started asking our waitress about ours. «I’ll ask in the kitchen» she said — then walked the other way and never came back to tell us there was a problem. At 7:20 she dropped the wings on the table and said nothing about the rest of our orders. I asked for the manager, who said the printer had broken so our order never went to the kitchen(so how did other tables get their orders? and didn’t the waitress notice that she was serving everyone except us?). No acknowledgment or apology from the waitress — just total avoidance. The manager had no real apology either. He said«ya, the printer broke. Come back after the show and we’ll fix you up». except we were hungry then(we went across the street for slice pizza to eat while walking to the theatre, which was delish). Just poor customer service. The irony is I chose Granville Room because I have a gift card for a Donnelly Group but in my fury I forgot to use it(I was busy counting exact change to pay for my [horrid] wine) — and now I’m so put off I may not bother using it anywhere. I can’t help but think some of the positive reviews about the food are from Donnelly Group employees …

Avoid the food and stick to the alcohol. I’d give it 3 stars as a place to grab a quick beer, but the poutine was inedible. When we told the server that it resembled a salt lick, she just said«yeah, the gravy is salty.» Half an hour later as we were leaving we overheard the table next to us complaining that their poutine was inedible and way too salty and the server telling them that’s just how they make. Well, if that’s the recipe and not a mistake, AVOID the food.

Can’t speak for the food here but I sure can talk about the service. When my friends and I sat down we sat at a table that wasn’t cleaned yet from the previous people. It was the only table available so naturally we took it. We waited about 15 minutes before a waitress finally came by. They all kept walking by even though they saw us and may I note the joint was that busy. The waitress was delightfully snarky and the first thing that came out of her mouth was, «yeah… I need to clean the table because you guys sat at a table that other people just left». She said this in a very exasperated tone as if us sitting there was the biggest inconvenience in the world. Immediately I knew this wasn’t a place I wanted to spend my money but we stayed in hopes of things getting better. The first waitress magically disappeared and we were served by another one who was nicer but barely came by to our table. I won’t be returning here again.

A fun place to stop in for a few drinks with a friend on the weekend! Nice dark décor with a good atmosphere, loud but not too loud. They were a little understaffed the night I was here, but service was pretty good! I like the daily drink specials, a good spot.

I would give this place zero stars if I could. Claims to be a place where you can get late night«craft» cocktails but it’s just the same as any other Granville sh! thole. Came here and asked for a bourbon sour and had the bartender scoff at me, saying bourbon and whiskey are the same thing, proceeded to mock me to his friends who were sitting at the bar, then told me to «get the fuck out of his bar.» I’m a 24 year old girl. I wasn’t being antagonistic. I just wanted the drink that I ordered. Rude, arrogant, and the slowest service I’ve ever seen in my life. I’m in the service industry, I have patience for those who deserve it. I will not be returning, and will be dissuading as many people I can from doing so as well.

Was here for a few drinks after a staff dinner, nice spot close to the clubs and other bars. Good range of beers but a rude staff member with a bad attitude put a dampner on our evening.

The Granville Room is almost perfect for me. I’ve been here several times now and all experiences have been pretty good. GREAT music, tasty cocktails(and knowledgeable bartender, knew exactly what to suggest) and good food too. Every time I have been here there were a few tables inside but we have never had to wait for a table, even with a larger party. I believe they only have a DJ on weekends, not sure, but the music is really awesome here if you’re into R&B/90s hip hop etc. even if there is not a DJ. The only downfall is the painfully slow service. The last time I went there, there was only one server and a new bartender and we didn’t get greeted until 10 minutes later. However, she was very apologetic and understood since it just got busy out of nowhere. If you’re in a rush to go somewhere, maybe this isn’t the place for you. But if you’re looking for somewhere to have a good drink and listen to good music, I would definitely recommend this place.

came in here on a friday night a bit after 9. given that this is a donnelly establishment, i was pleasantly surprised. we didn’t order any food, but we had 2 of the drink specials — double long island ice tea for $ 7, and a bourbon for $ 5. the drinks were fabulous, and the price was great. however, the regular priced drinks were pretty high, average $ 8 for a beer and over $ 10 for most cocktails. as for the atmosphere, the music is great. i personally like the dim lighting, and the minimalist design with brick walls isn’t too dive bar-esque but feels a bit more casual than most cocktail bars. granville was packed as always, but this place didn’t feel too crowded, despite most of the seats being taken. the waitress was a bit slow, but she was nice and seemed to be the only one working, so that isn’t a huge issue. overall there are more than a few places like this in vancouver, nothing about it is awfully special or creative, but a nice place to begin your evening, or just sit down for a more relaxed outing.

LOVE the Granville room. I discovered this spot just by simply walking past one night. It seemed like a cool spot and chill with good music. i was right. The staff are really cool and welcoming. There’s this one guy I’m pretty sure everyone calls«swan»(not sure why), but he’s great. I usually sit at the bar when I’m in there so he serves me most times. He’s fast, attentive, and most of all serving up great drinks. I went in on my last birthday and when my friend mentioned it, the staff brought out a little dessert with a candle in it. I was very surprised and happy. It really made me feel great. It was above and beyond, in my opinion. The music is cool, the staff is cool and the atmosphere is on point. I love this bar and recommend it to everyone.

Came by to have a drink. Parking here is horrendous — you’re looking at a bit of a walk, even with SkyTrain. The interior is quite dim, as with most yuppie-style places. Beers were some $ 7, which is average at best. The place is pretty packed. The music isn’t too loud, which is great, as you can still have a half-decent conversation. I had some of their wings(forget which flavour but they were sweet) — they were pretty good.

In absolute complete love with the vibe. 90’s, hip hop, & R&B. Chilllll. Upscale and classy without being pretentious. Minimalistic décor; brick walls and rustic lighting. My «go to» spot if I lived in Vancouver. Damn you L.A. and your EDM obsession.

I have to say that I got the worst service here and not the best food the night that I went for my friend’s b-day. Man, I usually don’t give 1 star ratings or even use the word«worst» in my reviews but I have to say I won’t be coming back. Now let me explain myself. Our reservations was at 8pm on a saturday night. I walked in and the restaurant wasn’t full at all. That surprised me as their location is on Granville street. By the looks of it there were 2 servers, 1 bartender and maybe 2 people in the kitchen. By 9:30ish the place was full and service went downhill. I notice that we would need to pay a gratuity of 18% and that’s when I understand why they the servers didn’t care about us. When we order food it took half an hr to come. Which I would understand when it’s packed and with limited staff but man the food wasn’t up to par. I had a Mac and Cheese. The macaronis were drown in cheese with a few slips of beef brisket on top. Didn’t think it was worth 13.00. A friend’s tuna salad was fishy. Our drinks such as Gin and Tonic were watered down. When we asked for the bill, that came fast. Overall, not coming back and don’t think I would recommend this place to anyone. This place probably makes their money off their drinks such as cocktails. Not sure how good those will be.

I had no idea the Granville Room even served food, much less a full(mostly delicious) menu available until 2am, every night. I thoroughly enjoyed the bar food appetizers including some crisp corn dogs and smoked bacon served straight up with peppers and HP sauce. Their duck confit and foie gras gravy poutine was another solid option on their diverse, eclectic menu. Known for the drink program and delightful cocktails, I tried a trio of drinks. The Bourbon Smash(with Buffalo Trace bourbon, Cointreau, mint, sugar, and lemon peel) was a nice, chilled libation. Both the Cooper Union and Cointreuse Fizz were solidly bold and refreshingly bubbly. The bacon and quail’s egg buns was a really another highlight. It was so simple looking yet delightful. For our mains, we tasted the roasted cornish game hen, parmesan and basil pesto flatbread, seared Albacore tuna, grilled beef tenderloin(with goat cheese potato gratin), and mac and cheese(with braised beef and aged cheddar béchamel). These were all very rich, decadent entrees and much more filling than they appeared. I’d say the mac and cheese was a standout and is easily wolfed down after a night out. I was delighted to discover Granville Room’s tasty and diverse dinner menu full of comfort food options. It’s definitely an attractive option on the Granville Street entertainment strip with limited choices late at night

Monday night Happy hour = $ 7 appetizers and $ 7 modern classic cocktails. Monday night happy hour = a huge bill with lots of $ 7.00’s on it. The boys ordered some manly whiskey drinks(as you do) and I was feeling something girly so went for the cointreau fizz. Delish and light and airy. We had the sliders(which are grilled cheese sliders, even though we were informed they were burger sliders), salt spring island mussels, jerk spice and bourbon bbq wings, and an order of poutine. All of it was freeeeaking delish! That poutine… Just whoa. Two kinds of gravy. I ate too much of it. I want more of it. The salt spring islands were in the most delish broth, the wings the perfect hit of spice and flavour, and the sliders. which were pretty meh, came with an epic spicy ketchup. This is my new Monday spot. Drinks and small plates. Uhmazing. Oh and plus our Aussie/Kiwi(he was a bit of both — I asked) was a total doll and gave us great service. All around great night

Spent the night in Vancouver recently and started off our night at the Granville Room. It was a beautiful bar with a great vibe and atmosphere. My friends started off with irish car bombs and I enjoyed my first glass of absinthe. Our waiters and bartenders were both attentive. It was a great bar to start off our night and definitely a bar we’d go back to again. PS. they have wifi, which is helpful for us US Roaming folks.

It’s pretty dark in here and not a lot of seating, but okay decided to give it a try. Not a lot of people on Friday dinner time. Service was slow, but friendly. Menu selection was very limited, but I was surprised. I ordered the Po’Boy sliders(panko crusted oysters in a brioche bun). It was really good, not soggy, and everything was done right. It was that good, I ordered another of the same thing !!! The drink Cointreuse Fizz wasn’t bad. I would never have thought of mixing cointreau, proseco and chartreuse. But it made an elegant and pretty looking drink. Next time, I’ll be back for the Salt Spring Island Mussels :)

It’s pretty dark and quiet here most times that I visit. Usually it’s a weekday apres work outing, but I haven’t seen a full house here in years. This place used to be rockin’ 10+ years ago. I’m sure the weekends are much busier. If you’re looking for a quiet-ish place after work, then it’s a good option. Every day of the week has a drink special, and the focus is more on whiskey and craft beer, which is a major bonus. The food is ok, but I don’t remember anything standing out. Donnelly and Granville St aside, the Granville Room still has a bit of grown-up class, and is probably one of the better options in this area, which isn’t saying much, but I do find myself recommending it from time to time. 19⁄30: #30DaysOfYelp

Wow, it is dark up here in this place. The bartender was friendly enough until he started hanging out at the other end of the bar for some reason. I almost ate shit three times on what were probably small spills. What IS this floor made of? $ 7.50 for just enough Bushmills to wet my tongue? Wow.
