Located in the Mount Pleasant neighbourhood of Vancouver, this 2.5 acre park is a lovely bit of green for the area. An open walkway bisects the park’s tree-lined field where you can have a stroll, romp with your puppy, or sit on a shady bench and read/people-watch. The park also has a recreation area with a playground and two tennis courts, if you’re feeling sportier. During our visit, we were there to attend a pig roast picnic thrown by friends. The day was warm and the pig was tasty. What I didn’t expect was that wasps(hornets?) loved pork so damned much. They were bloody everywhere and not dissuaded by our wasp traps that people laid out. We found an easy parking spot close to our destination. We also learned from our local friends that Guelph Park was also known as «Dude Chilling Park». It seems that a local artist stole the official park sign and replaced it with an exact replica, changing the name from Guelph Park to Dude Chilling Park in honour of a reclining bendy tube statue located within. The city removed the parody sign but area residents wanted it to remain. A petition was circled and due to a successful social media campaign, park officials agreed to reinstall the Dude Chilling Park sign as a piece of «public art.» The park is still legally named Guelph but locals will know what you mean if you reference Dude Chilling.

This park has been renamed Dude Chilling Park! Sorry Guelph Park! Worth a visit just for the name alone! Very peaceful neighborhood park to chill in. Have a tennis court. Go for a visit just to say you have been there.
