I have a car accident injury from 2.5 years ago. Already been to Physio/RMT and some rehab through approved places by ICBC. At the end of this, still have really bad incidents where it feels unprovoked but the shoulder/neck will be locked up and hurt for over a week. The most recent one made me desperate after regular RMT didn’t do anything to relieve the pain. The place is spartan but clean, there is hooks for your coat in the massage area closed off with curtains and a plastic box for your work bags/purses etc. I thought I could handle pain but apparently I didn’t know/remember real pain until Brighton worked on me there. I asked for 45 minutes, sat in the chair and he put a thin towel between his hands and my shoulder/neck/head. From that point on, he was explaining and torturing me where I whimpered and complained about the pain for 45 minutes. He said I did well though as I didn’t actually cry and try to squirm out of his grasp like other patients. At the end, I was asked to move my head around and try some movements, what a difference! I was extremely sore, he advised lots of warm water to drink to come back twice a week initially to get past my 7⁄10 condition(rating for how bad when I asked him). Next day was super painful/raw so I took Advil but 2 days later so much better. I’ve worked up my courage to go back tomorrow for another appointment. I need to recover fully, so whether or not ICBC pays directly, my lawyer will get some money so I will be reimbursed at the end.

This place is awesome! It’s a clean small space with no frills but the massages etc are awesome. I’ve been going for years and I get packages for massages and reflexology. They always get rid of any tension, knots and sore muscles 100%!

I’ve been going to the Handy Health Centre now for about 4 weeks and have experienced dramatic improvements with my neck and lower back issues. I was in a car accident almost 3 years ago and still suffer from pain which interferes with my daily life and enjoyment of the small things. I purchased a 600 minute package from Brighton at Handy Health and have allowed him to put me on a treatment program using massage, scraping, cupping, and other techniques he believes will help my muscles heal themselves. For the first two weeks I attended 2x weekly 1.5 hour sessions and now am going 1 time per week with my expectation that this is going to go on for a few months before I go into maintenance mode for my back. The results so far are dramatic and I really feel I am in control of my back pain now and perhaps am on the road to a full recovery. Brighton’s treatments are challenging, but so is my back and neck pain, and I’m happy to recommend this clinic as a destination for recovery.

In my first ever review for Unilocal,I told my story of back pain and here I am once again. My first visit to Handy Health was in demand after I came home from Christmas holidays and promptly threw my back out(clearly, my body didn’t want to go back to work anymore than I did…). I called around to find somewhere that wasn’t booked, to undo whatever I had done to myself, quickly and fingers crossed, affordably. Handy Health Centre is a primarily a Chinese medicine and therapy clinic, and they really know what they’re doing. Offering massage, reflexology and naturopathy, the experts at Handy Health will assist you in treating and diagnosing whatever might be ailing you. This may have been the most painful massage of my life(I’m actually a little scared to go back, regardless of the fact that it helped enormously), but it was totally necessary. While I squirmed in my chair and felt myself either wanting to cry out or cry and then laugh, because really, my face must have looked hilarious every time the masseuse got in there and ripped my muscles apart. Now don’t fret, this is my case and I have chronic back issues but the Handy Health professionals will do their best to treat what they can. I have found that combined with physiotherapy(essential in having the power to heal oneself), traditional Chinese naturopathy and massage practices will do wonders in helping and diagnosing whatever plagues you and your soul. The masseuse who worked on me asked at the end of my session if I drank cold water and I replied yes, other than daily tea. He told me to only drink room temperature or warm water from now on, as cold water can affect the body’s balance and the muscles mobility. Good to know!
