check out their wine selection, great rating system, the special shelf has some great deals, way better than BCLC if i want beer though i prefer to go to brewerys down the road.

The BEST selection in the city! Always a draw to enter… And the friendliest most helpful staff! My go-to store!

They don’t answer the phone, though. Or else it’s the fax number that’s listed.

Great selection, and they’re open 365 days a year until 11pm, or so the sign says. Unfortunately, it’s a private liquor store and the prices will be higher than BC Liquor and you will notice the difference. Also, this store apparently used to be a BCL and they’ve maintained the layout and signage, which means if you didn’t know better you might be fooled. I was in here last week and some girl was arguing with the cashier over the price of a bottle of wine, until he finally convinced her she was not in a BC Liquor store. As far as private liquor stores go, this one is great. I wish the province would change the ridiculous alcohol sales laws so that we wouldn’t have to pay so much for drinks. It doesn’t make anyone drink less, it just leaves us with less money for other things. In my humble opinion.

Three sixty five until twenty-three hundred every single one of those days? Well, hell — that’s just the way it should be. With a pretty decent craft, imported and domestic beer selection for those who drink that sort of thing, a fairly comprehensive wine selection for girls like me, and unlike a private store, coolers for those last-minute purchases, convenience, it would seem, is of the utmost importance here. Friendly, helpful, and fun, the staff are genuinely awesome at Hastings Liquor. They may not have the most in-depth knowledge about your favourite craft beer or local wine, but they’ll shoot the shit, laugh at mundanity, and be actual human beings that function at levels beyond the name tag attached to their shirt. And who says that a neck tattoo means you’ll never get a real job? Just look at the guys working here. Jobs. And neck tattoos. Yes, you’ll be paying more than a government store, but for overall selection, cleanliness, friendliness, convinience, and neck tattoos with jobs, it’s a solid find.

Open 365 days/year until 11PM? Heck yes. New Year’s Eve rolls around, my friend arrives a grumpy little camper because all of the liquor stores were closed. Hastings Liquor to the rescue! Every time I’ve been there the staff have been friendly, and even laugh at my stupid jokes. Laughing at my stupid jokes is a pretty surefire way to get into my good books. I’d give it five stars, but there’s something about giving a liquor store five-stars that makes me seem like an alcoholic. Also, private liquor stores tend to be a bit too pricey for my liking.

My fave liquor store, although I wish they carried Joie, my favourite wine. Always parking on the side(if you wait a minute or two). The dudes working there are pretty helpful and I love the artsy vibe of the employees actually. Super clean and another great addition to the ‘hood. Lines go quite quickly even on a Friday. I wish they offered tastings sometimes, though. :) The only thing I don’t like about these non-government liquor stores is now it’s tough to find a place to use your gc if you’re lucky enough to have been given one by your boss(which is a pretty awesome gift, otherwise). ***Note*** — they have 500 wines for under $ 20! Impressive!

After leaving an art showing downtown, we decided to reconvene at a friend’s house for some more food and drinks. We stopped in at Hastings Liquor Store on our way. While the selection is a little smaller and the prices are a little higher than a government run liquor store, the beer and white wines are in a chilled cooler ready for purchase and immediate consumption! I would have given this liquor store *4 stars* based on the service, appearance, and selection, but they are open until 11pm, 365 days a year making it *5 stars* in my book! This location will come in handy on those special occasions when more liquid love is needed!
