This place gets really busy during evening hours, we happen to be there on Monday when they have specials all day Dosas at CA$ 5.99. We ordered Palak Paneer Dosa, one plate Medu Vadai and Onion Uttapam, all the food was really good, Comes with 2 chutneys and sambhar. Sambhar is not great otherwise I would have rated 5 stars! Still the place is good.

What makes House of Dosas different from other Indian restaurants is that they are open very late. A good spot to go to with friends if you are craving for some tasty crunchy dosas and to sober up on!

I had such a great experience my first time there, but during my second visit, it fell rather short. We went on Dosa Monday — where all dosas were only $ 6 or so, the place was very busy and lined up at the door. I had the exact same dish — spinach and cheese dosa(palak paneer), but this time, my dosa was chewy, greasy and thick… Nothing like the light crispy dosa I had last time. Also, my palak paneer was 65% potato… not at all like my last experience where it was noticeably greener(ie more spinach) Furthermore, one member of our party did not receive his dosa until the table was half finished(despite us asking 3 times about it) I think maybe the moral of the story here is… You get what you pay for, so avoid cheap Mondays! ;) On another note, their cauliflower 65 and chicken 65 were delish!

Good tasty food. Meh service. Idli is delish. Madras special dosa is a good. Lamb curry was tender and yummy. Hot roti made it even better. Cleanliness– don’t look in the back if you’re squeamish. Service– decent and straightforward. Polite but not really striving to be people pleasers which is fine by me.

Second visit on another dosa Monday. Chewy has been looking forward to trying his first dosa since I raved about it at from my previous visit. We came around 1:30pm and had to wait for about 25 minutes to get seated. We ordered the lamb palak and lamb vindaloo dosas. They were just as delicious and fresh as I remembered from my first visit. However, service was very poor compared to previous. We grabbed a pitcher of water from the counter since no one came by to fill our glasses. When we went up to pay and waited around for a few minutes and had to ask a server to come over to the till. Overall, I would come back because the dosas are a steal at $ 5.99 but won’t expect any service.

Okay, first of all, Monday night Dosas for 5.95, yum! They are great! Im just writing this review to let everyone who orders food over the phone for pick up that it’s a 50⁄50 chance that they will actually make your food. I’ve called for paneer 65 and that’s it, before and went there 30 min later because every time I order it’s not ready, so I waited and they hasn’t even started making it. So you might as well just go there and order.

Dosa power! I haven’t been to the House of Dosas in quite a long time, so it was awesome to finally drop by for a little late night snack(they are open till 2am!!). My friend and I shared two Dosas(lamb and palak chicken). The crêpe was perfectly cooked and crispy and the filling was oozing with amazingness. I was impressed at how fast the dosas came out. Sadly, it was not a Monday, so you do pay a lot more than the $ 6 deal you get on Dosa day. However, it was well worth it. Can’t wait to come back!

Excellent rasam vada. One of he better radars I’ve had. Set dosa wasn’t anything like it was supposed to be. But overall good quality was very good

I love House of Dosas! I’ve been here regularly for the past year and the food has been consistent. I always get the chicken 65 to start. Very tender and moist chicken bites. Highly recommended! The dosas are great too. They’re extremely filling and to be honest, it’s kind of fun using your hands to eat. Service is also prompt and friendly. It’s a great place to check out if you’re looking for a filling meal late at night.

I love how enthusiastic the servers are. This is my usual spot for a post midnight snack if I’m still on the road. Love the ambience and the people.

This time the experience wasn’t as great as the last few times. I tried the the chicken dosa, and it was a 2⁄5. :(The crêpe was crisp, the sambhar and chutney were good as usual, but the filling was not up to the mark. The lamb dosa my friend had ordered was real good stuff though! Next time, I’m going to go with the lamb dosa too. Last, but not least, the chicken 65 from this place has never disappointed me. Sheer taste and happiness.

Pretty good place to grab dosas(it better be with this name!). Many options available, including vegetarian and vegan options. The dosas come with side dishes that make up a complete meal and leave you fairly satisfied. Prices are okay(usually $ 11 – 12) per dosa. Service is quite lackluster, not being very attentive or friendly. Still, worth trying if you’re into this type of thing.

Incredible food… and not just for a specialty restaurant, but in general! Quality, consistency, service and value are all extremely high!!! As someone who is gluten-free, egg-free and dairy-free(a little ghee is ok with me:)… the eggplant dosa here is one of my absolute favourite comfort foods in Vancouver. They are even open late and casual enough to go as you are at anytime… pj’s or party dress. Mondays are half-price dosa… which gets really busy and at the incredibly low price they are at regularly, I tend to avoid this day. Here is a great article about them in Vancity Buzz:

This was a terrible disappointment. The vada was okay, a tad on the oily side and felt as if it had been cooked a long long time ago. The sambhar was terribly salty — a total mess. The rava masala dosa itself was okay but the masala again was not what it should be. The only good thing was the chai. That is an unfortunate thing to say for a place claiming to be the House of Dosas.

Team Food Soc came here for lunch and I had a great taste of the following: Gunpowder Dosa Chicken Dosa Chicken 65 Paneer 65 On Mondays, it’s Dosa Day so every dosa is $ 6. What a steal as long as you don’t order the regular dosa! The Gunpowder Dosa was massive. The wrapping was kind of like a thin fried crêpe or crispy thin pancake. Inside was some curry and veggies mixed together. The unique factor of this dosa was its smokey taste. I reckon gunpowder tastes foul in real life so a smokey aftertaste in this powder was good for me. On the side were a couple of chutneys to mix in with this triangular dosa. I wasn’t a big fan of the soup; it tasted extra healthy and watery so I didn’t get to finish it. The Chicken Dosa was just as impressive as it came in a long rolled up shell. Inside was a curry mixed with chicken. For both of these dosas, finishing one each could be a meal, but since it was Dosa Day, we couldn’t resist ordering more with our leftover budget, The Chicken 65 is a wonderful appetizer that’s very shareable. The 65 comes from a special marinade made to give the chicken this red colour as it gets fried. The chicken was tender and went great with the included sauce. I could eat two of these plates myself and call it a meal because it was so good. The Paneer 65 gets my vote for surprise appetizer of the day. These were chunks of cheese that almost tasted like chicken the way they were fried. This would be a great vegetarian option if you are looking for a meat-free appy.

Succumbed to dosa cravings to hit the ‘Strictly OK’ zone at the House of Dosa. We ordered the chai, sambar vada and 2 rava dosas. The chai was by far the saving grace. At $ 2.50 a cup, it seemed steep for the stuff. Rant: they do not serve filter coffee! For a place serving south-Indian food, its a dampener. The sambar was very salty. The rava masala dosa had a rather generous portion of bland & squishy potatoes as masala. The dosa my husband ordered wasn’t a master piece either.

Dosa’s Dosa’s Dosa’s! Pregnancy cravings are in full swing and a Dosa is what I was in search of this week. We popped in yesterday at 4pm and to our surprise it was a full house. It was the oh so popular dosa Monday’s! We ordered 2 dosas and the lentil donuts. all our dishes were fantastic and full of flavor. Can’t wait to try the other fillings and dishes. My only complaint was when we went up to pay our cashier(I believe was the owner) was complaining about how busy it was and that people only come for dosas on Mondays when there is a deal. $ 5.99/each. We responded by telling him that it’s great being busy… he responded great for you and not me! Hmmm this won’t keep us from returning, he was probably having a bad day.

Food: 5⁄5 Service: 3⁄5 Ambiance: 3⁄5 Value: 5⁄5 Mondays equate to cheap dosas at the House of Dosas. Although the menu for Mondays have been reduced, most items are still a bang for your buck. The dosas are great, but the appetizers are even better. It’s a pretty good place to pick up other South Indian foods too(like the roti, or the curries). Only problem with the place is Mondays are so packed that the wait is a little ridiculous(looking at at least 30 mins). The specials on other days are still a decent deal, and there isn’t a long line(but you’ll have to settle with the regular pricing on dosas).
