Bumping this review to a 4 because the service was unreal. The rolls were average for the price(2⁄5), but the beef teriyaki was a huge portion and quite good(4⁄5). Ambiance was great.

The atmosphere and ambiance is more like a French bistro, with modern and interesting décor, than a traditional sushi restaurant. It’s an intimate space so you’ll want to make reservations. I’m not sure what’s better; the taste or the presentation of the food… always excellent. Prices are very reasonable for the experience.

I ordered their assorted tempura, Bella roll and Bella tower. Their assorted tempura for $ 8 has 4 shrimps, 2 yam, 11 giant zucchini and another giant broccoli. Since I’m sharing this with someone, I would better appreciate smaller portions of vegetable instead of one big piece. The Bella roll, for $ 12 is good but the portion is quite small. A good thing is that they generously sprinkle the tobiko on top. The Bella tower, for $ 12, seems to be a favourite here. It pretty much consists of salmon and tuna sashimi on a bed of crab meat. What’s disappointing is that they don’t use sockeye salmon, making it a little bit lacklustre. Overall, I think it’s a standard fare, nothing really special but good enough for me to come back and order take out from.

My girlfriend says that bad service and crap décor are the norms in sushi places but I don’t think it’s passable. My girlfriend and I waited 15 – 17 minutes for a server to come and greet us, she beat the buzzer because in 10 seconds we were getting up and leaving, I was literally counting out loud. Even counting out loud didn’t get their attention and she just said«ready to order?» No «hey, how are you, welcome to blah blah» you get the idea. After we ordered our whole meal, including the appetizers because we knew we never see her again, we both ordered cokes and waters, to which 1 Coke and 1 water came out. She slammed them down and ran off because obviously the staff is overwhelmed and undertrained for the job they have. I am a server as well and I could work that entire room by myself. After being asked for more Coke and water, only water came, after MORE Coke was ordered it finally came but both waters were in dirty glasses that had floaters and caked on sesame seeds on them. Obviously they just sat to the side and were never used, we were never asked how our experience was, apologize for making us wait so bloody long, or even have a semblance of customer service whatsoever. Our food came out of order, with me «entrée» coming first and my «appetizer» second, because obviously I wasn’t asked what order I wanted my food in, because there was definitely an order to how we wanted to eat. Nope, our small table for 2 was packed to the brim with dishes and considering where our table was, was sure to be bumped by the severs ripping past us. At any rate though, I feel the food has gone downhill, as the experience we had as customers left a sour taste in our mouths as we left, we were finally asked if there was a problem with 1 dish, but that was only because I didn’t finish it to the last bite like I did everything else. The dish was bland, and I don’t like to cause a scene in public, I think you guys got off lucky on that one. Anyway, rant over, we are running out of places to eat on Davie as we actually care about good service, the decently cheap prices at Sushi Bella won’t have us coming back.

A solid place amongst the many Japanese restaurants that vancouver has. The subtle additions to the rolls is what makes this place different. The food is delicious, a lot of natural light and great service. Will go back.

Our favorite sushi find in all of Vancouver! It is indeed ‘solid’: perfect balance of timing, freshness, creativity, artistry, flavor, and above all, friendliness. We have returned each time we are in the city, and we are already treated like ‘regulars’! The Bella Tower is tops. Save room for the green tea ice cream dessert!

The décor doesn’t look Japanese at all which we found interesting, lots of a natural light and light floors made the space look huge and airy. The service was fairly quick and they kept the tea and water constantly filled up which was nice. Came here on the recommendation of several people and I am left wondering if my friends hate me or something. The food was horrid: some dishes were swimming in mayonnaise, the sushi tower was tasteless and remained mostly uneaten and the rolls are the only reason why I am giving them 2 stars instead of 1. I would not come back here and have eaten better sushi in the mall, seriously.

Delicious, fresh sushi and great service. The crazy California roll was amazing. Starters: calamari(light, Non-greasy and fresh), edamame and half a dozen oyster shooters in original, spicy and fresh mango. Asian dream salads was dreamy with beets and fresh crab. Totally hit the spot! Teriyaki beef plate was so tender and tasty. Their Bella Rolls: Crazy California and Drunken Tiger Roll was very good! I’d come here again! Love the front table as we people watched during dinner. The kids loved to see the Pride community in action.

I was recently in Vancouver and was so happy that this delicious sushi joint was just down the street from where I was staying. I especially loved the fried California roll. Everything I tried was great! The décor is really cute as well. It is kind of a small joint so you do sit close to other diners – but that doesn’t bother me. This was definitely worth waiting 15 minutes for but I would suggest calling to make a reservation.

This place is SOLID. Service was quick and attentive. They were able to accommodate a party of 8 on short notice, and we only had to wait about half an hour. We went to a bar across the street while we waited. The price is on the high end of average, but well worth it! You can tell the ingredients are very fresh. The rice is tasty and doesn’t feel like it has sat in a rice cooker all day. I’d definitely recommend this place for a date, or to take your out of town friends too. The décor is pleasant as well! Nice job!

One of the best affordable sushi spots in Vancouver! Wonderful friendly knowledgable servers and a delicious fresh Italian/Japanese sushi fusion menu! Some highlights include the sushi pizza — to die for! And the monkey roll! Shout out as well to the Shitakke mushroom roll and the fresh dark spicy wasabi. Great décor, rarely a wait list and good drinks menu too. Highly recommended!

This is absolutely my favorite sushi spot EVER. first off, the service is top notch. The ladies that work here are super friendly and very professional. So many food options! We usually stick to the tuna and wild salmon sashimi, Bella tower, pork gyoza and about 4 different rolls. My favorite roll is the Crazy California Roll with Rainbow coming in 2nd. I haven’t tried anything I haven’t liked. Everything is good! The actual restaurant is super cute and welcoming. They also do take out! The price is decent for the quality of food you’re getting. Everything is super fresh and prepared beautifully We’re here between 2 – 4 times a month.

Wow. A great meal was enjoyed. I actually used Unilocal reviews to make my decision and yes it was very good. The hostess was friendly and the service was quick. I really liked the devious meal of salmon sashimi and a salmon roll. Great deal and excellent presentation. The washroom was clean and had mouthwash to rinse. Just a classy place that is affordable. I will be back.

Had lunch here today. I’ve been here a few times in the past. First thing you will notice is the décor. It is not what you expect from a typical Japanese sushi restaurant. It resembles a French café. I actually quite like it. Anyway today I had the«Katsu curry bowl». The chicken was not bad, tender. However, the curry was very liquidy and watery. I would rate the meal around 3.5 stars. Their sushi rolls are pretty tasty, especially if you enjoy«fusion» style rolls. I came with a group of friends today and unfortunately one of the dishes took a looooong time. I was already finished my meal before it came out. We also tried to get their attention to order additional rolls, but none of the staff noticed for minutes that our group had our arms up and waving at them. They had really attentive staff the previous times, but can’t really say the same for today. So overall, minus 1 star for food and another star for service. I would probably still come back every now and then, but not religiously.

Sushi Bella is just a bit out of the way from the downtown core, but it’s worth to walk if you want simple, fresh sushi. The exterior of the restaurant is very nice, and the interior is a step up from many of the sushi restaurants I’ve been to. Service was very fast and polite, with no long waits for food or drink. I keep it simple at sushi places, so I had a sunomono salad, some rolls, and some nigiri sushi. The sunomono was quite nice, with big tako pieces and lots of veggies. The rolls were small(but very expensive), with nice pieces of tuna and salmon, and great tasting rice. The nigiri sushi was excellent, very fresh and flavourful fish. This is a very bold and creative menu, so Sushi Bella has great choices for everybody if you want to come with friends.

Cheap, fresh sushi. What else could you ask for? The service was really good and considered the restaurant were so crowded, I was surprised by how cheap it actually was. A must try is the roll with fried sweet potato and mango on top. DELICIOUS!!! See my picture!

[Sushi Fusion] My first impression of Sushi Bella was: an Italian guy who lived in Japan decided to open up a sushi joint in Vancouver. At its core is a beautiful Japanese restaurant with touches of European influences in their menu. Fish quality is excellent and I thoroughly enjoyed their specialty rolls. As I examined the menu, a few items caught my eye — sashimi nachos, sushi pizza, and fish tacos. I wasn’t in the mood for anything too weird so I stuck with some specialty rolls instead. I ordered a volcano, wild wild west, and ocean dream rolls. The first thing I noticed was their size — most other restaurants’ specitaly rolls tend to be bigger(and thus pricier). The fish quality was excellent and of the three, the ocean dream roll was the winner. I wasn’t super stuffed but enough to avoid snacking the rest of my evening. Service was good, but not mind-blowing. The restaurant and ambience was pretty upscale — my other half loved the colors because it reminded her of Tiffany’s gift boxes. Great. Value-wise, I didn’t find it to be a steal — rather, reflects the food and ambience.

This sushi experience was pretty damn awesome! I’d say almost any place in Vancouver would have great sushi, but what makes this place distinct were their crazy interesting selection of sashimi and rolls. The straight up sashimi was off the hook, especially the tuna, it melts in your mouth. We also tried the«Bella Sashimi», but only the spicy chunky tuna. It was good, but only because of the quality of the Tuna, not so much the sauce or anything. Didn’t get to try any more though! As for the rolls, we only ordered stuff from the«Bella Rolls» and we weren’t disappointed. I’ll list which ones in order of «best» to «not-as-amazing-as-best-but-still-really-good»: 1) Lady Mango Rolls: the mango really compliments the roll, and there’s a lot of texture and taste in this, don’t come here without trying this one! 2) Bella Rolls: There’s a lot of stuff in this roll, but the combination was really good, and it tasted great. 3) Paradise Roll: This was also amazing. Even though Lady Mango already has mango, this roll was also distinctively unique because of the mango and other blend of ingredients. 4) Crunchy Go-Go Roll: Each individual piece was massive, but the crunch factor was awesome, and it tasted pretty good. 5) Crazy California Roll: everyone else recommended it, and I’m glad I got to try it, it was just a deep fried california roll. Contrary to a lot of reviews on here, the service was actually fantastic. They sat us in seconds, the waitress was attentive, nice, and the food came out within minutes of placing the order. Lastly, the waitress herself recommended not getting the monkey’s roll, since it’s basically just a banana and fish lol… Overall, highly recommended, get the Lady Mango, and the Tuna Sashimi :)

This place is more of fusion Japanese than traditional. But they have lots of interesting dishes. What sets them apart is that they plate beautifully and the food is different. Bella Tower — Crab meat, sashimi, avocado, mushrooms with balsamic drizzle. It was alright, memorable but on the too much mayo side for the crab meat mixture. I would order it again because it’s so cute. Nachos — personally will skip this one. It’s ok, you get only five chips with some fish and a messy bed of salad. The sauce is sweet but the dish itself isn’t that good. Sashimi Bento– definitely not worth $ 15. I was hoping for more sashimi less random stuff — it had a small salad, tempura, dynamite roll with a LOT of rice… more sashimi oriented items even would’ve been nice. Spicy Sushi Pizza — very spicy I gotta give them credit for that. I find they like to use a lot of jarred jalapeño in their dishes which doesn’t appeal to me. Even fresh would be nicer tasting. This dish just didn’t meld together for me… it was just really off. What I do like here are their rolls. The mango roll and paradise roll I think it was called was nice. There are good toppings and good sauces and it’s all very fresh. Next time I would probably only get rolls and some other items. For my first time here I just wanted to try the basics and their fusion and created dishes. Service is nice, the server knows the food and is quick. Very clean shop on Davie(it’s downtown so be prepared for downtown prices).
