Walked by and at first glance it’s easy to overlook but this hidden gem that was a total score. The prices were very reasonable for the large and tasty portions you get. We got the yellow roll which is yam avocado wrapped in mango. The warm smile from the sushi chef and the attentive service from the server was great. A great find for sure. We will be backk

My girlfriend and I did take out from here and it was OK. We ordered chopped scallop nigiri, Toro nigiri, kawa roll, Dynamite roll, and unaten roll. Everything was very inconsistent, there were small and big pieces, some rolls did not have everything on there and some had more on there. The Toro was very fatty and oily it looked so greasy. The unaten roll was good. Cali roll with unagi and avocado on top. The only thing you will get out of here is value. The prices were very very good in comparison to other sushi restaurants. Take out was easy too.

Great place for low budget sushi. I decided to go here to fill my tummy while hanging around Victoria Drive neighborhood. Sushi chef served me as I walked in and I guess the waitress, his wife, was super busy with something. Their value menu attracted me at first and portion was filling. I got both Tako Sunomono($ 3.25) and combo #2($ 6.95) and they were good. It was unusual to see Tako Sunomono in yellow colour so I guess it must be from rice vinegar. Octopus pieces were big and tasty. Sushi combo #2 was good too. It came with BC rolls, Dynamite rolls and Yam rolls. As a result I couldn’t finish all my food that I took away some left overs. Great place without breaking the bank. The music here was very off though. It was like eating sushi while listening to tiki bar music.

One of the best cheap good quality sushis I’ve had in Van. Good quality, fresh and huge portions. Only negative is they skimp on the soy a bit so ask for extra

Gave this place a chance after seeing the other positive reviews. I’ve driven by this restaurant a hundred timesc but never gave it much thought(there are a lot of sushi places in Vancouver) This is a small place in the neighborhood near other busy restaurants. I ordered the Michael roll which had a generous piece of salmon avocado and a good heap of seaweed salad on top. Spicy tuna roll was mediocre, but not bad. Next time I will ask for sauce on the side. The toro negiri and salmon negiri was delicious! Although, the toro was sliced a bit too thick. Normally not an issue, but the fattyness of the toro was a bit overwhelming. All said though, this whole meal was only $ 13.95! Really can’t complain about that.

Truth to be told, when we walked into this restaurant, we weren’t quite sure if we made the right decision. We stayed nonetheless and boy we were glad we did! We ordered a party platter and 4 other rolls for 3 persons: 2 men and 1 lady. The 2 are big eaters and guess what? We could not even finish the rolls and had to take a doggie bag that could still feed 2 persons. The bill came to less than $ 60 including an Avocado smoothie order and again, we were floored. We definitely recommend this place. The food was great and portions were great and prices unbeatable.

Their specialty sushi rolls were what attracted me to Kawa Sushi. We ordered three rolls: * White Roll $ 6.95(Chopped tuna & onions w/Cream cheese wrapped with tuna) * Honto Roll $ 5.95(Tuna, Salmon, Avocado and cucumber wrapped with Smoked Salmon) * Kawa Roll $ 4.95(Smoked Salmon, Mango and asparagus wrapped with tobiko) There was ONE sushi chef, one server and one kitchen person. The chef was busily crafting rolls the entire time we were there. When our order quickly arrived, the rolls looked almost too good to eat, as you can see in the photos. Ingredients were fresh, firm and crisp. Rolls were neatly arranged. Obvious attention to detail and pride in craftsmanship. I can not wait until next time when I will try another three of their 20+ specialty rolls. Best of all, these rolls are all in the $ 4 – 7 $ range which is remarkable since other restaurants typically charge $ 10 for similar items. The server came by at least twice to ask how we were doing and fill up tea. The entire order came to $ 18, for two people. Amazing. The only warning is that the neighbourhood has many restaurants so parking MAY be difficult to find; we had to park a block away and walk in. But, it was well worth the effort. The walk also let the food settle on the way back to the car; we were that stuffed. Give Kawa a try.

Kawa is a great small place to have sushi! The chef is super friendly and always happy to see you. The tuna tataki is some of the best I’ve had in Vancouver. The excellent roll, beautiful roll, and paradise roll are great, the pricing is also good.

I love Kawa Sushi! This has been my go-to takeout place since I moved into the area a couple years ago. There are a few sushi places closer to me on Kingsway, but after trying the others, I keep going back to Kawa, for three reasons: great food, good prices, and amazing service. Food: yum! I’m a vegetarian so have only tried the veggie rolls and noodle soup(which are all fantastic), but non-veg friends I’ve taken there tell me the fish is great too. Portion sizes are very generous and presentation is really nice. Prices: cheap! I usually take away the veggie combo(#3) and it comes in under $ 9(4 rolls + miso soup.) Service: so great! The staff always recognize me and are super friendly and hospitable. It always puts me in a good mood when I go here because the chef is just so darn jolly. They’re closed on Tuesdays so plan accordingly!

Yummy sushi for a great price. I live close by and they let me bring in my own plate to cut down on take out waste. Owners are friendly and hospitable … My family lives in the burbs and they always beg me to bring over party trays for family feasts. Wish they weren’t closed on Tuesdays ;)

Pricing is very reasonably priced. Wasn’t expecting much from a mom and pop shop but was thoroughly surprised and satisfied with service and quality of sushi. For the price, larger portions than others, and when they say avocado, they pile that on! Will be coming back again for sure.

Coming here for a post-dinner snack with Team Joe’s House, I ordered a Wild Salmon Nigiri, Hokkigai Nigiri, and Octopus Nigiri. At first glance, the smoked salmon looks pretty plentiful on the rice but one can see this is just smoked salmon that tastes like the packs from Superstore and Costco which explains its relative price(and saltiness) to the regular Salmon Nigiri. Other than that, the other fish here tastes pretty fresh and I enjoyed the rice. Wasabi was just your regular fare, but that’s okay for me.

When I’m craving sushi I find myself always coming back here! This is my favorite sushi place so far. Every time we go the staff is very friendly and the sushi is fresh. The #1 combo is always a good filling choice. The go-Mae is also delicious!

Very much like the pricing here! The sushi combos and specialty rolls are reasonably priced and very tasty. Had the Combo 2 and boy was that filling! There are so many specialty rolls to try from… so will have to make multiple visits to try them all. The Vietnamese folks who run the place are über friendly and accomodating! They’re always coming to check on you and your tea, so you feel very well looked after here.

Very reasonably priced sushi. Definitely as good as most sushi restaurants. Portions are generous. I’ve been here 3 times and never disappointed. Owners are super friendly. It’s not very busy there. Hope business picks up. I like this place.

I love this place! It’s probably the restaurant my partner and I eat at the most often. We have taken every recent visitor here and we often drag friends out to Victoria Drive for a taste :) We moved away from Victoria recently, but we still come back(it’s not too far!). Looking forward to trying delivery on a rainy night in the future. The staff are great and always recognize us, and ask where we’ve been! The food is consistently delicious. I have gotten the combo #3 more times than I can count. Yummy. I hope they stick around for years to come.
