Good atmosphere and good prices. Mario‘s Coffee Express=Argentine air.

A charming, cozy little shop where you can get a quick bite and great cup of coffee. Perfect for a traveler on their way to something else. Very few seats.

Super coffee! I wish I found this place sooner! I found it on my way to Pacific Center one day and decided to try something new. The coffee is outstanding, Mario is a sweetheart and so are the other two gals I’ve seen working there. Mario makes his own coffee blend and it’s strong without being too acidic. Once Mario gets to know your coffee preference he brews the coffee just the way you like it. Who does that?! He does! Amazing. It’s a must try.

I saw this randomly when doing a search for something else on Unilocal, therefore, book marked it since May 5th. The place is small and cozy, busy with products and very very inviting. The minute I walked in I was greeting by what I assumed was a father/daughter combo. If I am mistaken I wouldn’t have known they seemed that close with good working chemistry which is important to me. I did the silly thing of forgetting my wallet, however, they allowed me to come back an hour later to pay them back which was awesome and friendly. Mistakes happen. I appreciated how the barista asked me the type of tea I wanted for my London Fog: Earl Grey or English Breakfast. They use a non soy based Almond milk which is appreciated. The lady allowed me to look at the cartoon without issue which some other coffee shops seem to have issues with when inquiring. Prices were very decent.

We were staying at the Four Season’s and stumbled on Mario’s. My husband was enticed by the«best coffee in Vancouver sign», I was skeptical. I was wrong… the coffee was delicious! The whole vibe with Mario, was charming, so much so we came back on day two! The breakfast sandwiches didn’t look great in the display case, but tasted divine. My daughter had the hot chocolate. He warms milk and drops a lindt bar in the bottom, she was in heaven. So much better than getting a coffee at Starbucks!

This coffee place is very special. I can’t tell the difference between different coffees but this place, Mario’s Coffee Express is very special. I can’t find any other coffee places that has the similar taste, and it makes me want to visit this place again even though it only opens on weekdays.

I used to go here all the time, then I discovered better coffee in the city. I went again today and I was reminded why I stopped going. The coffee is not great. Their grilled sandwiches cold, and overpriced. The service is enthusiastic, I grant them that, but not efficient. Want coffee? Go to Musette. Go to Revolver. Want a sandwich? Go to Meat and Bread

Neat little shop run by Mario. He’s the only one who runs the machine, so you don’t need to worry about a poorly trained barista ruining your drink. When he goes on his annual holiday back to Argentina, the shop is closed — something about that old-style«mom and pop» business culture makes you really enjoy patronizing his coffee shop. The espresso drinks are pretty good and very consistent. Mario’s shop could certainly benefit from a bean-upgrade; if he served Milano coffee, this place would be off the charts.

3 dollars for a supercharged cup of americano goodness! That is what it takes to wake me up and Mario’s does a good job of it. The pastries here pretty good too. I wish I could give them more stars, but I’ve seen the man who I think owns the place be really rude to some of his customers or almost customers(Never to me though). This is where I go when I don’t want to wait 10 minutes for a coffee. There are usually no line ups.

Who doesn’t let a 3 year old use the bathroom because she didn’t buy anything? The staff at Mario’s Coffee Express… that’s who. Last time I was in there, a mother was pleading for her young daughter to be able to use the bathroom and was turned away because they had just walked in the door and hadn’t bought anything. So, out of curiosity, how many of you would stand at the counter and order first while you(or your small child) had to go to the bathroom? Does it even make sense to make someone order first, leave their food or drinks unattended on a table and THEN go to the bathroom? Zero common sense, inhumane treatment of a little girl and her mom, terrible atmosphere. Every person walking in your front door is a chance to win them over with atmosphere, product, or amazing service. I doubt you managed to do that with this woman, and now you’ve lost a paying customer as well. Shameful.

Super nice spot for a nice Italian coffee and pastries. I feel back home when I go there(Europe). The owner is super nice and take of each client. The lady behind the counter is so friendly, it is a pleasure to talk to her. I am Gluten Intolerant and she made me an omelet with cheese and turkey with no bread. I hate coffee but when I need my caffeine shot, this is the ideal place. Their espresso are delicious and I truly enjoy drinking them. It became my favourite spot for q quick espresso and to clear my mind of a busy day at work.

Mario’s Coffee Express is one of the most beloved little coffee bars in Vancouver. Mario himself has been serving coffee to Vancouverites for over twenty years. Originally from Argentina, Mario takes his coffee very seriously. His tiny shop’s old world décor has an authentic flare that seems almost incongruous in the middle of Vancouver’s business district. Mario will cheerfully serve you the finest espresso, late, or drip with a smile. Then, he’ll then flag you down after you take your first sip to make sure you are satisfied – he knows the answer already. Mario’s Coffee Express has a little sign that boasts the best coffee in town, but it’s not just Mario that thinks so. Unilocal and Urbanspoon give this little coffee shop some of the best reviews in the city. This doesn’t surprise Mario in the least but he says he has never bothered to look at what people are saying about him online. «I don’t care about computers,» said Mario, «It’s all about good coffee and customer service.» Become a regular and Mario will remember your name and your usual order. He will always greet you with a smile and even banter with you in Spanish(if you are so inclined). Walking the five blocks from Vancouver Extended Stay to Mario’s Coffee Express will be worth it every time and it makes a great lunch stop with its specialty grilled sandwiches.

I went into Mario’s Coffee and didn’t end up buying coffee. I had a craving for a scone and got the last spinach and feta one. It was a little small and the price is average, but it hit the spot. If it were a little more buttery, that would be been perfect. The staff was incrediably friendly and the man behind the counter seemed like the owner. He really cared about the business and was trying very hard to make sure customers were being looked after. That’s the kind of thing I love seeing.

Honestly, how great is this place. Old school in every way, the italian man serving us and the pretty girl beside him are straight out of a movie. Charming, friendly, amazing service, ambiance, and beautiful espresso. This place is a gem!

If you weren’t smack in the middle of the business district, you’d swear that you’d stumbled into the second best coffee bar on the drive. In the coffee chain wasteland that is the downtown, this place is a beautiful little niche where service is not only personable, but professional. Very nice coffees and all the amenities of a straight-up all Italian coffee bar. An excellent find.

This spot is a true business-district classic. On weekdays, Mario himself serves up fresh brews and steaming americanos. Expect soccer to be on the tv during game season and lively Latin music during the rest of the year. The taste of the coffee is finely crafted and delicate, but the after-buzz is akin to a caffeine high. Personally, it makes me shaky. But if a hard-hitting jolt is what you’re needing, no one serves coffee like Mario’s.
