My sole way of indulgence! Havent tried anything besides the classic poutine but this already greatly satisfies me! Yummmm

My first poutine — it’s nice enough but this is heavy stuff people. Whether poutines are inherently mean or if these are mean poutines I may never know because I think restricting the number of these I eat may prolong my life. Helpful staff. Star deducted for needing to eat standing up but it’s probably for the best.

Had a big mean and green poutine! Satisfying and filling and yummy! It’s not la banquise, but I’m on the west coast ;)

We got the fried chicken poutine on our last day in Vancouver. There wasn’t that much chicken. I was expecting toppings like popcorn chicken, but the pieces we got looked fried pieces of thinly pounded chicken(think milanesa). The fries were pre-seasoned, so together with the gravy, it was a little too salty for me. The combination of fries, curds, and gravy at Fritz was so much better, so this place was kind of a disappointment.

Got the buffalo chicken poutine and also the mean supreme. I was kind of disappointed with the mean supreme. I guess for me it didn’t really combine well with the meats, veggies, and fries. The buffalo chicken on the other hand was pretty good. The lady at the counter was nice. This is more of a street stand style with counters to eat your food. It’s kind of touch because you have homeless people on the side nearby that kind of made me feel uncomfortable.

Stopped here on our way out of Vancouver because we just HAD to get some poutine before we left. My friend and I split the buffalo chicken poutine. The food: WASAMAZING. Honestly I don’t know if I was starving or what but everything from the gravy to the cheese curds to the fries and chicken was on point. I was glad we got the buffalo chicken for the spice because regular fried chicken would’ve likely been too much of the same flavor. While it was a little pricey(~10), even when sharing the meal we didn’t finish it all, which makes it worth it in my opinion, especially considering how much we enjoyed it. The vibe: This place is basically a walk-up window with no chairs or tables, which was fine for us as we were taking it to eat on the road. Our service was nice but the wait was long, although we went pretty soon after they opened so we understood for the most part. I would definitely come back for the poutine, though I can’t speak to the dawgs.

Ive not had a hotdog in years, but i decided(cause i saw how big they are) to get one. why not. But i was very disappointed-he small hot dog carts in vamcouver do better and they have less space. I was told that the hot dog will take a few minutes cause it had to be put on the grill. But when i got the dog it was luke warm, and not grilled ATALL! it was a frozen mess; for that price i expected a bratwurst. Then, i was given raw onions! And i asked mushrooms and i got cold canned mushrooms. I was then also criticized by the woman for what i wantes to add on top and she tried to covince me its wrong. Waste of money, looks good, taste teerible: soggy, canned, cold, over priced, rude!

This is an awesome place! I was in Vancouver overnight and Mean Poutine was a 10 minute walk from the Hyatt Regency. The lady was so nice and helpful about figuring out what I wanted to order. I had the fried chicken, bbq, and mean supreme because my brother was back at the hotel with a sprained ankle. They were all amazing! Albeit a bit salty for me(drink something with this), but it was still good.

I was really craving some poutine while visiting Canada, and several people recommended this place. It’s definitely a hole in the wall and you eat standing outside. We went around 8 or 9pm on a Sunday, and there was hardly a wait. I’m sure it gets super busy on late nights. The lady who owns it was really nice and made us a fresh batch of fries. I split a Supreme Poutine with my friend. It included the usual fries, gravy and cheese curds, but it also came with double smoked bacon, angus roast beef, mushrooms and peppers. It tasted very flavorful, but the amount of cheese curds seemed to be lacking. It was $ 10, so pretty decently priced for the size. There were a lot of options to choose from the menu.

I know there are a LOT of poutine places downtown… but this place BEATSTHEMALL It’s a little hole in the wall, right on the corner of Granville and Nelson, and right beside their direct competitor«Frites» My cousins and I split up, half of us went to Mean poutine, and half of us went to Frites. The fries at mean poutine WON in terms of 1) portion size 2) crispiness of the fries 3) thickness of the fries 4) flavour of the gravy 5) amount of cheese curds on top 6) bang for your buck. We also ordered a coke as well with it, and 1 box of the regular poutine was more than enough for 2 people to share! We’ve been back a couple times as well since that night, and we’ll probably be back for more! GREAT spot!!!

This is probably one of the best poutine places I’ve been too – definitely a good place to stop by if you are hitting up Granville! The food: I got the vegetarian poutine, which was amazing(I know, I know, how good can vegetarian poutine be – but I’ve heard it’s just as comparable to the other options on the menu). The menu is pretty diverse, with plenty of options to choose form. The fries were crispy and perfectly made, and they didn’t get too soggy from the gravy and the green onions on top are the perfect way to top off a meal. It’s the perfect comfort meal. The atmosphere: Mean Poutine is one of those places you stop by after a long night out at Granville. It’s like a good friend, always there for you, even late at night, and makes you feel all warm inside. Prices are fair and the service is quick, considering there’s always a line. This place is stationed like a food stand, so there’s no tables or chairs to sit to eat out poutine. However, there’s always the curb and a bench 1 block down, and this late at night, it probably won’t take you very long to devour the food.

Delicious poutine!!! The only one we had when were visiting Vancouver. My boyfriend decided to follow his nose and we ended up here for our second dinner. He did not stop talking about this the rest of that weekend. This is not an indoor restaurant, you order and eat on the side. Located near the busy street that reminds us of Hollywood(a lil).

Best poutine hole in the wall in Vancouver. So amazing how the fries and gravy and geese curds are just perfection! Can’t rave enough about this place. Make sure to try it at least once and you’ll be converted. Can’t go to Vancouver without stopping here between meals. The fries are super crispy yet soft on the inside and stays crispy even with the delicious gravy poured on top. The green onion on top makes such a big difference! I can’t believe it myself but get a bite with a fry, gravy, cheese curd and green onion and it’s just an amazing combination of the right flavors for a poutine. Make sure to go! No questions asked.

Had the mean supreme and must say it was good. Somewhat disappointed at portion size, but the quality was there. You can always count on Mean Poutine to be open late after a drink or dancing at a club off Granville. A regular muchie spot for most regular patrons of the bars and clubs off Granville you’ll be delighted to find this place open late into the night. There is no sit down tables or chairs as this place is literally a cut out hole in the wall off the side of the building, but the food is good.

The girl taking our order and serving it up was meaner than our poutine. I had a 10 hour layover in Vancouver. What else would I do but venture out to the city and jam anything edible in my face? Poutine was a must of course. After a little research, Mean Poutine is what we landed on and easy to get to. The outside is dirty and there were bums hanging around. One guy would not leave us alone and kept rolling his eyes when we said we didn’t have change. He stood and stared at us a good while, it was getting really uncomfortable since this is a drive by style place. There’s nowhere to run into. There’s an express window that you walk up to and order, with a little outdoor standing counter you can eat at quickly. There’s a giant menu in front. After looking over the menu for a bit our little«friend» decided to grace someone else with his presence. After much deliberation, the fried chicken poutine was it. The description said it was in a buffalo sauce, that was intriguing, I’ve never seen that anywhere. We go up and place our order. The girl at the window was not friendly, but whatever, I got my food. The fries were crispy as it should be for coming straight out of a fryer. The gravy was also good. I was disappointed in the chicken. It was pretty dry, and only a hint of buffalo sauce. I’d try something else if I happened upon this place again. It didn’t blow my mind, maybe if it was 1:30am and I had one too many it could have been a 5.

Oh my goodness, this place was so good. Perhaps I was super hungry by the time we got this(around 7:45) but when I took a bit of this goodness, it just crunched and melted in my mouth. Luckily, when I went, there weren’t too many people. We were the first in line. The lady was pretty nice and after taking my order, proceeded to prepare the poutine. All the poutine made are made to order so it is fresh and not soggy. These people know what they are doing. I think they double fry the fries so that it has an extra crunchy texture. I love this. Many of the poutines that I’ve tried in the U.S. and in Montréal have been soggy and just does not have that crunchy texture. This place nailed it in terms of producing a delightful texture. The cheese curds on top half melted and half stayed in form. Again, it tasted so good. The sauce on top was okay. I thought it was on the saltier side. But I didn’t care at the moment. I kept shoving poutine in my mouth. Yummy! All this for $ 7 Canadian dollars.

So much poutine! I didn’t go to the actual location. Luckily it was near the hotel we are staying at so my boyfriend walked and got it and brought it back to our hotel. It’s in a kind of sketch area and it’s a grab and go kind of place too. They don’t have places to sit anyways so it worked out well. They have tons of kicked up poutine topped with things like fried chicken and roast beef! It’s a bit pricey I felt for what you got. We tried the mean supreme with brown gravy, cheese curds, certified angus roast beef, double smoked bacon, grilled onions, peppers and sautéed mushrooms. The mushrooms seems like they were from a can and I felt it had too many flavors going on. There was flavor but not a whole lot with the cheese and gravy in my opinion. We also tried the fried chicken poutine with brown gravy, cheese curds and buffalo chicken chunks. I liked this one. This one had good flavor. I liked this one with the small cubed panko fried chicken. Because of the area, I’m not sure if I would go back since it was just ok to me.

Ordered the philly cheese steak poutine one night while roaming Granville St. With friends. Good taste and generous toppings, gravy is not too salty unlike some other poutine places. Wish they gave more fries and that the fries were crispier. Grilled onions and peppers weren’t really grilled, somewhat lukewarm as well. Not bad for a quick poutine fix but didn’t leave impressed either.

I was expecting to be totally amazed but unfortunately I was just moderately satisfied. What you get for the price is pretty poor. Everything is relatively pricey at ~10 an order and neither of the two poutines we got(mean surpreme and fried chicken) were particularly great. Don’t get me wrong, the poutines were pretty tasty but I feel like the potential is there for it to be AMAZING. The flavors just weren’t there Maybe part of the problem is that we went out of our way to specifically try the poutine. If we were locals that passed by the area on a regular basis I’d definitely eat there occasionally.
