Closed, now call the shameful tiki lounge. Have not been there yet. Did not like the old place, I mean really who only takes cash these days?

This place is all about the local music and Parisian vibe. Intentional, but casually so. It doesn’t try too hard, and that’s part of the charm. The owner is friendly, and it seems to attract plenty of French speakers. I like how the owner doesn’t bug you right away to order another drink when your glass is empty. Good, mature, non-pushy waiters remind me of Paris. Live music every night, and not at obnoxious volumes. Opens at 5:30pm, music 8−9ish, open late(10:30ish on weekdays, much later on weekends). Also, the crepes are pretty good. Excellent presentation, buttery taste.

I went here for my first live music experience. I think that the indie atmosphere really presents a great opportunity for indie artists to present themselves. It was a very nice, intimate place with retro bikes hanging from the ceiling(so cool!). The food was okay, though the portion was a little small, and the food overpriced. I had the chocolat et orange crêpe, which was small yet tasty. I also had the Charlotte drink, which was nothing special. I was just disappointed about the cash-only policy, which was not presented on the menu. I was also not warned by the server. I had to find an ATM at 10 pm, which wasn’t too far(about 10 minute-walk), yet very, very inconvenient. I recommend this place for the live music experience.

Very nice French café, local musicians performing music and great wonderfull service. It’s the atmosphere that brings this place ambiance and the character of the staff and owner and musicians that give this place a classic noteworthy Paris/Vancouver sensation. I was here at a private party, my brothers birthday party where he and fellow musicians sang and entertained us while we dined on crepes, sweet and savoury and home style cooked food. Accompanied by Beers and a swirlfull of soulfull song. Me likey!

Good venue showcasing great talent. As for the food, I would recommend the pizzas or the hummus appy.

Amazing service, beautiful food and the hospitality is only rivaled by the truly eclectic décor. Ali and Courtney have created a little piece of France right in the heart of the Main District. The live entertainment that they have every night has always been stunning and out of this world.

My review is in regards to ambiance and the drink menu. A real French bistro in Vancouver. I had a kir royale and enjoyed it immensely. I went to see my friend play with his ukelele ensemble and the room was filled. Didn’t try the food so I can’t comment there. I appreciate a place that supports local music. Cash only.

I’ve been here twice now, under very different circumstances. The first time I was here, it was to watch a friend perform later in the evening. It was a full house and the ambiance was very lively. I was immediately charmed by the space, which was very nostalgic and«Euro», and very well suited to an intimate show. The room is long and narrow, with some semi-secluded seating in the back for canoodling(or not). There is live music most nights, as well as spoken word performance and improv on occasion. I love that they support local musicians and artists! The second time I visited, it was for coffee and dessert after having dinner down the street. We were the only patrons there, and it was equally as charming. Prices are reasonable, although I haven’t tried any of the«real» food here(unless ice cream counts as food… which it really should). Service has been great both times I’ve been, and I definitely recommend Montmartre as a cozy place to grab a quiet drink earlier in the evening, or catch a live show a bit later on. They have a full bar, but the beer/wine selection isn’t the greatest. To reiterate past reviews… cash only.

Love this place. One of my favorite restaurants. The crepes are amazing. I always want to order something else, but they’re so good I end up getting them every time. The atmosphere is dark, cozy, and has a rustic french theme. Different from anywhere else in Vancouver… I think that’s why I like it so much. Next time I’ll have to go later so I can catch the live bands play. PS — They accept cash only

I adore Montmartre, not just as a nighttime café/restaurant, but also as a venue for Vancouver’s literary happenings. The café has a small stage near the door that is perfect for open mikes, readings, and music by small-ish bands. I’ve mostly been here when an event or party is going on, although it is also a great spot to stop in for a glass of wine and/or a yummy crêpe. Montmartre has a great French-inspired atmosphere. The walls are lined with vintage prints and photographs of Par-ee, and the high ceilings are hung with a collection of bicycles, tricycles, and a baby carriage. Not sure of the French-ness of those, but it fits with the general arty yet playful feeling of the room. I’ve never had dinner there, but hear the baked Brie is good.
