Daium girl, where you going with all that class!!! Went in for dinner, and it was great. There were five of us, all good friends, so we decided to order everything we liked off the menu and shared it. 9 plates in, we couldn’t eat another bite. We went in on a Monday, and Nomad had a panoply of drink features, all of which were delicious. Service was prompt and the staff attentive, ensuring that drinks were promptly refilled and our plates were always full. The meal highlight and must try were the Sunchoke«Wings», they were so nice, we ordered twice.

This would be an excellent meal at any price, but the fact that it is so reasonable sends it into the 5 star category. The room is beautiful and you get to feel like you are hanging with the cool kids(Main St.). The menu changes frequently and the cocktails are amazing. Their bartender has earned many accolades for his creative and delicious concoctions, so tell him what flavours you like and ask him if he can whip you up something special. You will not be disappointed.

one of my favorite places for the last year or so. I’ve only ever gone for dinner. No brunch experience. We normally order a main each(beef, fish if available, or the duck) and an appetizer(prawns, carpaccio seasonal). I love that they change up the menu and there’s plenty of variety. This applies for drinks too(alcoholic or not) and dessert has always been a win. Ice cream made in house! Friggin delicious. They started having live music on Friday nights with happy hour as well. We love it! It gets pretty busy and the service is always pretty good. Only thing is dim lighting which some people love(me) and some people not so much(my folks cause they can’t read the menu or see they’re food… old age?) Parking is a-plenty on the street(free!) and if it’s busy we park at the clinic lot that’s next door when it’s closed.

What a pleasant surprise on Main Street! We have been late to go out for dinner and happened to find the Nomad still open at 10 pm with the bar & kitchen in full swing. The modern space is filled with candle light and makes a nice ambiance. The food was delicious: we really liked the local and CREATIVE approach on the menu. If you are bored by Vancouver’s usual local creations, come here and try some delicious variations. The wild prawns were fantastic — so light, fresh and well spiced. The sturgeon was perfectly cooked and the rood vegetables made a great side dish for the hearty fish. Also the pickled«jam» on top of the fish tasted great and gave an extra kick to the plate. The ingredients are good quality and you can see a professional approach on the plate. Very nice presentation as well!

I like you, Nomad! Came here last Wednesday for dinner and shared a plate of their famous fries(with bourbon onion aioli) to start. WHOA, almost filled up on this ginormous plate of delicious carbs and had to force myself to stop munching to save room for my main, which was the amazing duck. The duck came with sweet potato pierogis, brussel sprouts, and carrot crème fraiche. My friend had the lamb shank which was not found on their regular menu. It was taken from their Wednesday special date night($ 50 for 2 people with choice of starter and entrée with dessert to finish — something that sounded really enticing but I REALLY wanted my duck.) Portions are fair and flavours are bang-on. I will definitely come back to try the other items on the dinner menu as well as their brunch. They have a great selection of cocktails, beer, and wine. I had a couple refreshing glasses of their cider beer which I would highly recommend, The space is modern with very high ceilings with the lighting kept quite dim with your main source of light coming from the candle on your table(not optimal foodie pic lighting that’s for sure). It’s a great space for a date but it can get a tad noisy with everyone’s conversation traveling freely in such a big open space. The service was amazing and we felt well taken care of all night.

I love the vibe of this restaurant with it’s high ceilings. I came here for my birthday and was offered the upper private area which overlooked the restaurant. Service wasn’t rushed and despite us being set apart, we were check on every so often. I ordered the featured sausage which came with sauerkraut, potato rosti, a mash and some sort of sauce(I forgot the exact description the server provided). I found the sausage to be really salty and that’s surprising for me considering how much of a salt fiend I am. The sauerkraut helped to mellow it out though. I quite enjoyed the fries everyone raves about. However this is more because of the amazing sauce and cheese sprinkled on top than the actual fries which I felt needed to be a bit crispier. I felt everything was just kind of generic however, and nothing really stood out. While a good choice along the Main St. stretch, I probably won’t come back here on my own volition.

Wandered in on a Saturday afternoon which means two things– 1) they are only serving food off of their snack menu and 2) it’s happy hour! I was skeptical that I would be able to find food off of a snack menu that I would find satisfying enough after having skipped lunch, but I was pleasantly surprised! We ordered the warmed olives which were delicious, although the pickled green beans were a little too vinegary for me. The lentil wafers and humus was delicious, but the real star of the show was the fries. They were to die for and certainly fulfilled my need for satiety. The«happy hour» drink menu had something for everyone with the house wine being only a dollar an ounce! Will definitely be going back for more.

This bar is awesome. It’s the first bar I have ever been to in Vancouver and it was the perfect choice. I am alone because I am on a work trip and it wasn’t that awkward. The bartenders are friendly and the cocktails are reasonably priced for craft cocktails and super creative. I love the«Voodoo Doctor» that includes both strawberry purée and pink peppercorn tincture! All the cocktails are well balanced and I found the atmosphere to be very classy but also inviting. Didn’t try the food this time but it looks yummy too — a lot of vegan-ish appetizers that seem to be in in the area.

I ordered the Slow Cooked Pork on Ciabatta and was a little bit disappointed. The pork was tender but the taste is just ok. Ciabatta is crispy enough. Overall, my experience is just so-so, not bad but not that good either.

Spectacular. Everything we ordered was amazing. It takes so much creative mind to come up with such interesting ingredients then put them all together in such beautiful ways. We enjoyed every single bites. Drinks were amazing as well. We had Femme Fatale and VooDoo Doctor. Delicious. The ambiance was fantastic. The service was perfect yet very friendly. We will definitely come back for sure.

We went to Nomad last night after some fun swimming so we were quite hungry for good beer and comforting food. But when I saw the seriously tiny tiny tiny portion of Grilled Calamari(regardless of the price of $ 14!) I was sure I was going to give this place one star on Unilocal! I am from a seaside town in South Korea where there are abundance of fresh seafood is around and I grew up eating all kinds of seafood to develop a good palate for seafood, but the expensive calamari at Nomad was seriously 1 out of 10! But we were still happy thanks to the pleasant and attentive/caring server and the fun conversation we were engaged in after a fun day. So we decided to give it a try on another food an we ordered Slow Cooked Pork on Ciabatta with Kimchi and Hoisin Ginger Glaze. Mmmmmm yum! The pork was perfectly seasoned and cooked and their fries were pretty heavenly :) I would definitely go back for more! P. S. Hope their beer list is better next time though :(

Happy Staff on Main Street? Such a novel concept. The owners of this place are really into something. Our waitress was delightful, attentive and knowledgeable. Wine you can order by the ounce and a tasty, real pint for $ 5? Stop pulling my leg! The sunchoke«chicken wings» are a revelation.

Nomad nails the local, seasonal, DIY thing in a down-to-earth, unpretentious way. The menu is diverse in its influences, but still manages to be small and focused. Sharing seems to be the way to go here; I came with a large group and tried probably half the menu. Of the starters the both the fries($ 8) and calamari($ 14) were standouts, and only the black garlic hummus($ 9) fell flat, largely because it was served with pork crackling, an interesting idea, but the traditional flatbread would have been better. Poached eggs on kale($ 13), duck breast($ 24), and braised lamb($ 25) were all excellent, though the lamb was my favourite and some of the best I’ve ever had. The desserts were all great, but coconut ice cream(the simplest and cheapest at $ 3 a scoop) was the real standout. The space is lovely and minimal with high ceilings and a front that is completely open to the street. Our server was friendly, attentive, and knowledgable.

Nomad Vancouver has been voted Second Best New Restaurant by the Georgia Straight Golden Plates awards. All made in house with fresh local ingredients and Ocean Wise approved seafood only. All you nomads and wanderlusters can come here for the solid West Coast Hipster experience. We love the high ceilings, local craft beers and menu selection. We like staying late and linger here after dinner. Nomad is located on Main Street beside The Acorn, Kitchen on Main, The Fish Counter and Portland Craft. Daily Special Burgers and Fries: Juicy. Fried onions always makes my day. Best burger ever! Braised Lamb: Fenugreek Ricotta Gnocchi, Legumes, and Masala Jus Gras. Service here is warm and food comes prompt. Definitely will be back!

Was here for happy hour yesterday, which for food is from 2pm to 5pm on weekends and 10pm to midnight daily. First think you’ll notice when you get here is the beautiful layout, décor, and high ceilings. Tried the fries and pakoras which were both phenomenal. The fries are easily the best I’ve had for as long as I can remember. It can give McDonald’s a run for its money. The portions were also very generous. Had a couple of beers to go with the food and they were ice cold just the way it should be. This review is only during happy hour. Heard it gets pricey for dinner. But anyway, great food, great drinks, good for groups, good service, it scores 5 stars in my books.

This restaurant was a unique experience. It’s a very small but cozy environment. I ordered the squash risotto(note that the menu is very small). It was good, quite rich and filling. I couldn’t even finish it. It reminded me of Indian food. The flavors mimicked an Indian dish. There was a sweet jam like spread on the risotto, which made the meal taste really good but there wasn’t enough of it. The drink I tried was so good(femme fatale) and I loved the cherry at the bottom. Nice touch! We also ordered the coconut icecream which was heavenly. I wish I had ordered more than one scoop! We also ordered the smores, which was very rich and minty. It was quite small but me and my friend could not finish it. This restaurant was a unique experience but I don’t see myself going back. There wasn’t enough variety for me. The staff was very friendly and attentive!

Awesome experience here. I Made a reservation through Unilocal which was quickly confirmed. Arrived and was promptly seated with a smile. Started with cocktails, which are $ 2 off on Thursday nights. Honestly cannot remember the names(2 of us sampled 3 of them between us), but they were all fruity and they were all delicious. The one that was made with Pisco was a favourite for both of us. For food, we opted for the kale with poached egg, calamari, and the lamb with gnocchi. The kale with the poached egg was a delicious starter and a good way to eat your veggies without ordering a typical salad. Calamari was ok, not bad but not phenomenal either so I wouldn’t opt for it again. Lamb with gnocchi was absolutely awesome though — typically I’m not even a lamb fan but I would say this was a must try! I also really liked the space — the high ceilings and white walls make what is a narrow space seem much larger. I can’t comment on the«garish» art(as another Unilocaler put it) on the walls as I was seated in the corner and did not notice it. It is quite loud though, so if you’re sensitive to noise it’s probably not the best spot for you. Service was very attentive throughout the meal. I’ll definitely be back.

We stumbled into this place on a Sunday afternoon during happy hour(3 – 5). When we walked in, we almost immediately walked out because the interior smelled a bit off. It smelled like a wet cloth. Yes, very strange… The interior was nice and spacious with high ceilings and perfectly spaced tables. Food selection was very limited during happy hour. They had 6 dishes max with no options to order from the regular menu. We tried the bourbon aoli fries to accompany our drinks and it was quite delicious. Fries were nice and crisp and the dip was excelent. They have a subpar selection of craft beers from local breweries(driftwood, red truck, and a few others). Given their locale I expected beers from one or two of the breweries located along Main St. My dining mate tried one of their cocktails and it was nice and refreshing. We might come back to try their regular menu.

Dinner started out great, but quickly went downhill in terms of the service, speed and quality. The pakoras were decent. The kale dish was fine The grilled calamari wasn’t to my liking. It was almost a soft, gooey texture, not firm as I would expect it. The pulled pork was decent. The atmosphere was cool. My suggestion would be come for a cocktail and a snack, but not an entire meal.

I’d heard praises of this place and decided to give it a try for myself and test their service and food by bringing a large group of friends. For starters, I made my reservation using Unilocal which is seamless and got a confirmation call from the restaurant within a couple of hours of calling. Also they called me on the day of and I received a text message an hour before my reservation… talk about good service! Upon arrival we were warmly greeted and had a long table reserved for us close to the entrance. I liked the high ceilings, wooden tables and lighting, so this place definitely has ambience. The music selection was great too, although the volume could’ve been a bit lower, after all we are not in a sports bar! Our server was quite friendly and accommodated our group even though we had a couple of minute additions. I also liked the fact that they didn’t add a group gratuity, so we all tipped generously. Let’s start with drinks, I tried a bunch of them and all would get A+ from me as are prepared fresh and use good combinations. For food I started off with Vegetable Pakoras that could’ve been considered a meal as the portion was very generous… and I have to say was great. I’m not really vegetarian, but this was one of the best dishes I’ve had in a while. My main course was the squash risotto and definitely creamy and the fresh bloody orange slices were a great garnish for the meal. I also nibbled on other friend’s meals and here’s the low down: *Pork Sandwich was way too salty so stay away *Calamari is done in true greek fashion, grilled as opposed to breaded and was just the right texture and taste *Mushroom soup was delicious Here’s where things went wrong, one of my friend’s order didn’t arrive till we had all eaten so I was disappointed by that; our server however tried to compensate by charing her half price which was somewhat of a consolation. The portions were so large that I had to get a doggy bag and didn’t have room in my tummy to try dessert… so I’ll definitely be back again to try more delicious goodness!
