I really enjoyed the Phở here. I was a little skeptical when I first enter the restaurant because there was only one other couple that was there. Then again it was 10:30pm at night. The broth here was very delicious. I am very picky with my Phở and I tell it like it is. If it isn’t good I am not shy to let you know. A medium looked a bit small to me. Maybe because I am used to eating very big Phở bowls. Overall this place had very good Phở. The only bad thing about the Phở was their chicken was American chicken and not your typical white meet with skin chicken. I’ll probably not going to be able to come back here because I live out of the country but I do recommend anyone from out of town to try this place out if you’re looking for good Phở!

Sunday night, my boyfriend and my friends were craving something warm, soupy and delicious. So luckily Unilocal brought us to Phở Xe Lua 24. It was full when we got there at 7pm on a Sunday night. We eventually got a table when a reserved table didn’t show up for their reservation after 15 minutes. The tea that came was so fragrant and special. It had hints of a sweet coconut flavour in the tea — very tasty and so lovely to smell and wrap your cold hands around. I ordered the Rare Steak and Beef Balls phở. For 50 vents extra, you can choose a different broth, like satay. I chose to stay traditional and stick with the Vietnamese Beef Broth. Piping hot, the broth was full of rich flavours and didn’t taste overly salty. The rare steak was very thin and was tender and beefy. The beef balls were bouncy and beefy. I especially enjoyed the phở rice noodles, very very chewy — perfect phở noodles! Service was really nice and the seating area is nice and cozy. If I’m in the area and craving phở, I would definitely make this a phở-peat visit.

This place is really nothing special. I decided to try it after reading a few glowing reviews but I can’t understand what the rage was all about. I got a simple phở tai — the broth was mediocre and the meat was terrible– it arrived rare as it was supposed to but tasted off. Asked for chili oil and was given one that was so dried up and old there was barely any flavour to it. The sprouts were wilted & old looking. Overall, nothing great. I’ve had so many better phở experiences, definitely won’t be back to this place.

I was a really big fan of the lemon grass chicken with a spring roll on noodles. The lemon grass chicken was much better than at many other restaurants I have been to. The portion size was also fairly generous — albeit, a large amount of noodles. Also had the appetizer chicken wings. They we nice and crispy, with a subtle flavouring. As far as service goes… well, the person bringing us our food was always on the phone. It didn’t really bother me, but some people might not like it. Overall, I enjoyed my experience here. As a side note, it is cash only.

This is our standby to go for phở. Service is fast, staff is very accommodating for substitutions, and they’re licensed! We usually get the #9 flank steak phở, but when we’ve gone with friends who’ve been more adventurous, the quality and flavour of some of their other dishes(like curries and rice bowls) were super impressive! And for the price you pay, you get amazing portions. But be warned, this place is cash only.

Phnom Penh noodles at 10pm. Thin rice noodles served dry with a savoury soy-based slightly sweet sauce, peppery fish cake, Vietnamese ham and five rather large prawns(probably frozen but the good kind), garlic chips, chives, and lime and basil on the side. I like their version much better than the similarly named neighbour down on Broadway. Overall a late night win.

I ordered the Lemongrass chicken with rice for take out the other day for lunch and it was delicious. The chicken was juicy and perfectly seasoned — not too salty or dry as is the case with many places. Portion of chicken was very generous and quality of the chicken seemed good. Would definitely recommend this place though didn’t try anything else.

I totally forgot how good the phở broth is here and glad that I was reminded. The phở is PIPING hot(the way it should be), the noodles are delicious, and the broth is perfectly seasoned with bits of fried garlic that you don’t typically see in phở broth. And if your’re a fan of beef balls like I am, these ones are juicy, «bouncy» and all around tasty. Their phos come in 3 different sizes(S, M, L), I would say their small size is smaller than the average small. Next time I’ll be going with a medium. The place is family owned with friendly service. Cash only, so make it rain on some of the best phở ever.

Solid phở in the cambie area. Service as prompt, and fo0od acme as expected and ordered. Catered our needs like cooked sprouts, extra sauces, no cilantro or onion for others, it was delicious and overall good bang for the buck.

Likes: Great Viet-style spring rolls that are crunchy and fresh, not the greasy smalls ones you get with Chinese take-out. Good Phở. Relatively clean dining area. Dislikes: Cash Only(No excuse this day and age unless you live in some remote village). Large noodle option for phở is spaghetti noodles. Service is a bit slow, non-attentive, was not made to feel welcome.

The restaurant is small and something I would have passed over if I wasn’t looking for it. Interior and service is nothing special but the food was worth it. The phở was delicious. It’s hard to get the broth just right but the broth here was pretty good. Not too salty but not too bland either. A little hot sauce made it even better. The small size was just enough for me but there are 2 bigger sizes depending on how hungry you are. We ordered the lemon grass chicken appetizer was just as good but a tad oily. We also ordered the beef curry with fried rice, which was fairly good as well.(Personally I still prefer their phở.)

Seafood noodle soup wasn’t very tasty. My husband’s phở tai tasted better. It took awhile for our noodles to come out and it was our family of 4 and a couple in the restaurant.

Went in after lunch rush and found no customers inside which was fine. Ordered the house special phở and it came out pretty fast which was great but I noticed the noodles were in one giant clump and I couldn’t seperate it even in the hot soup. I had to basically eat the noodles in bites like I would eat bread or something. Also ordered a lemongrass chicken and pork to go and when I went home, I found the pork pretty burnt and the chicken in a small portion. Maybe I went at a bad time but never going back again.

I am no longer vegetarian and this place is still my South Cambie neighbourhood favourite. The spring rolls are bangin’ and satisfyin’ and the grilled lemongrass chicken noodle in soup is heavenly. The rice dishes are also pretty great if you’re in the mood for a simple fried rice. I’m not so adventurous to try the traditional phở or tripe, but I’ve heard it’s also great. The best thing about this place is that they are consistent; The food is fragrant and hot when it arrives, the staff is kind, and the quality of the product is reliable. This place is still cash only.

One of my favorite phở places in town :) Everything I’ve tried there was good. The staff is friendly and service is fast on most days. I just don’t like how they don’t give me hot peppers with my phở… but evening else makes up for that. Just be sure to take cash because they’re cash only.

My go-to place in the neighborhood when I’m in the need for a phở fix. Service is always quick and easy. Food is always hot and tasty. One little downside, CASHONLY. If for some reason you missed the obvious sign when you first come through the door be prepared to take a quick run across the street to the bank machine. CASHONLY.

Good phở but a little more pricey than what i’m used to(9.25 for a large). Broth is quite flavourful, but service does not really come up to check on you. Went here on new years day and was left alone while they all talked really loudly in the kitchen. And as other Unilocal users have noted, this is CASHONLY.

One of the better Phos in Vancouver if we’re talking about soupy beef noodles. I really enjoyed their beef and beef ball noodles. For a change(I’ve had some bad experience with Phos) the noodle texture was spot on, the soup was delicious and the beef didn’t taste funny. The Bahn Mi I had was pretty good(8⁄10 stars for that dish alone). However, the shrimps cakes we had were a little overdone and the summer rolls are a tad expensive compared to other phở places. They also need to work on their fried food.(E.g. Calamari and fried rolls) And for these reasons, i must subtract 2 stars.

This may be the very 1st viet resto to give a 5 star; that shows you really gotta go, considering the ice coffee was good, but not great, tough to compare against One Saigon in DT :) anyways i digress… the vermicelli/spring roll/shrimp paste combo is simply outstanding; will order 2 of these if my tummy can handle it. lots of flavour, chopped peanuts, and surprsingly some good meat in the shrimp roll. And the phở Special, wow, the xlarge has plenty of good stuff; meat, meatballs, tripe and tendon, and plenty of chopped green scallions galore… soup base also tasty though i’m feeling a tinge of msg lol but that’s ok, it’s all good. did takeout and was impressed by the size of the fish oil sauce, as per pic. no need to ask for second’s lol. nice thought to pack the hot sauce and oyster sauce too. definitely will be coming back. and it’s quite the trendy décor, from previous resto establishment, i can’t recall of a sudden. good staff w/good english skills. not your typical hole in the wall. cash only ;(

My favorite Vietnamese place in the city. Lovely dining room. Fast, friendly service. Great prices… and FABULOUS food. I’ll be honest with you– when I eat at most other vietnamese places in the city, I opt for the vegetarian option. The meat is just TOO questionable everywhere else. But here, all the cuts are lovely, gristle free, and generally ‘human-grade’ all around. They are also one of the few places that I’ve found that does a Grilled Prawn Vermicelli! My favourite!
