Pretty good place. I would visit again, but I was in a rush so I don’t think I tried everything there was to try! Unfortunately they are closed this summer. I visited a few months back.

Delicious matcha latte. Paired with a banana mocha hand pie– yum! The café is small and in a semi residential neighbourhood. Staff are very friendly.

I actually found this place on the bus on the way to a concert at the PNE Forum, however, they were closed, therefore, booked marked it since April 15th to come back at some point. I came back the following day to get a light dessert and a drink. The pies are under $ 10 which wins points for me and the wallet. Good customer service.

What a cute and charming little place. I love the way it is decorated. We ordered a matcha red bean pie and a blueberry almond cream. They were so kind to hear them up for us! The matcha mochi red bean was definitely the favorite of the two. There is bitter matcha powder on the outside and the inside has red bean and soft mochi. Yum! So many textures in one bite. The blueberry pie had a very thin crust and I didn’t taste the almond cream at all. It wasn’t anything special. Their savory pies look really good too. Next time!

Renfrew Café is a new café that recently opened six months ago in East Vancouver. This café specializes in handmade pies and coffee. Pies are made with locally sourced ingredients and are made fresh daily. Coffee comes from a variety of Vancouver’s coffee roasters. Fresh clean lines with influences of modern day Japanese simplicity shapes the interior decoration. The wooden light window box is much of a focal point as it displays sweet pies and cookies. Wooden panels extends from the counter to the rest of the café crafted by Arata Hatanaka of Arata Design Atelier. Renfrew Café is owned and operated by Tyler Russell and Shun Taguchi. Tyler Russell is the new Executive Director /Curator of Centre A and had previously owned Café for Contemporary Art in North Vancouver. Shun Taguchi had previously worked at Caffe Artigiano. Renfrew Café’s vision is to bring some delight into your daily lives, promote community and conversations. Delicious pies and coffee are some perks that comes along for the ride! We spent a delightful sunny afternoon chatting with Tyler over pies and coffee; culture and arts; and Vancouver’s local coffee scene. Russell, who is well traveled and fluent in English, Japanese and Korean brings an unique perspective to the table. Matcha Latte: Yummy frothy mug of a healthy vibrant green is nutritional and flavorful. Beef and Kimchi Pie 7: All natural beef from Okanagan and locally made kimchi. The pie crust was firm and flaky with soft beef briskets throughout. The tart and spicy kimchi was a good way to brighten the pie without being too heavy. Served with small slaw salad. We loved the humor put on the pie crust. Why so serious? Other savory pies include: –Ham and Cheese — local hams, mozzarella, and homemade tomato sauce.(think pizza pockets) –Mushroom and Spinach Pie — sauteed mushrooms, spinach, mozzarella cheese and homemade tomato sauce. Matcha Mochi Anko Pie 4: made with red bean paste, mochi and matcha powder is one of Renfrew Café’s best sellers. It has all of my favorite ingredients wrapped together and is not too sweet. Other Sweet Pies Include: –Mocha Banana — organic bananas, mocha sauce from Elsyian Coffee, and almond cream. –Very Blueberry — all natural blueberries and almond cream. –Classic Apple — stewed granny smith apples. Next time you stop by, say Hi to Shun! Tell him Nancy(Nomss) sent you!

Lovely café with the sweetest owners who are work at & own the café. Nice cozy open layout with a big window for natural light, great location with lots of nearby parking, delicious pies(I’ve had the kim chi beef, blueberry, and mushroom spinach so far, and all are fantastic pockets of fluffy goodness!!), lots of coffee options, free WiFi… what more could you want!(Maybe a few more power outlets?) Highly recommend you check out this cute little café and support the hard working & friendly small business owners. I hope they can keep this café going! :)

Surprising gem! I popped into this cute café the other day. They don’t have lowfat milk and they don’t make chai tea lattes, buts according to the husband, the latte was super good. I also enjoyed my organic lemon soda. The savory pies? Yum. I had the beef kimchi and the husband ordered the mushroom spinach. My expectations were low but they pies were great. The place appears to be run by a Japanese couple. He does the coffees and she does the pies. I tried to order soup as well(I can eat a lot) but it was still being made. The café is spacious and fit our stroller easily. The location is a bit random and so I hope this place thrives and sticks around.

Renfrew café is my favourite little café. They serve delicious house made pop pies and excellent coffee. As well, the owners are probably the most adorable couple in East Van. I highly recommend it, you won’t be disappointed when you visit.

The«PIE&COFFEE» sign in the window grabbed my attention. A very simple little café, I wasn’t expecting much. I ordered a green tea and an apple pie. Both were amazing! The apples in the pie were large and chunky. The tea perfectly brewed. Apparently have only been open for 3 months. I hope they do well :)

Only serving drip coffee. Limited menu. Would have expected much more. Not surprised there were so many issues opening up this location. They better get some more choices or this could be closed by the end of the summer.

Renfrew Café is the little sister of much respected CAFCA, better known as Café For Contemporary Art which won hearts on North Lonsdale in North Vancouver. Renfrew Café is serving Elysian Coffee and with a menu consisting of home made sweet and savoury items they a call Pop-Pie. Minimal décor, and a contemporary feel, relaxing music and lots of daylight make Renfrew Café a worthy stop. I wish these lovely folks much success.
