We live nearby and go there often. Lots of choice. Pretty yummy sushi and rolls. Super good prices as well. Service can be a bit slow sometime but super minor.

3.5 Solid 3.5÷5 for the food Had half-order salmon & tuna sashimi and a chopped scallop roll. The sashimi was fresh, and neither offensively large nor impishly small. On the other hand, the chopped scallop was tasty but mostly rice and little and inconsistently filled. My friend ordered three special rolls and attested that they were great. One weird thing was that we were told the kitchen verbally sends out orders to tables to the servers, and we therefore ended up with someone else’s sushi. When we asked the server if the roll was ours, she said yes… and not until the other rolls arrived did we realize it wasn’t. The chef asked my friend if she liked the extra roll when we were paying – so he’d known it had gone to the wrong table but didn’t say anything.

Sushi combo — California roll, yam roll, tuna roll and miso soup for $ 6.95. I substitute California roll for spicy chopped roll for $ 1 extra. The level of spicy was mild. Hawaii combo — tuna with pineapple, interesting combo. Contrasting flavours I was not a fan.

I had really high expectations for this little sushi joint and it was okay… the prices are lower so the value is good but it is only okay in terms of taste. Ordered the deep fried spicy tuna, spicy salmon sashimi(which was a really small portion) and a samba roll with a california base and spicy tuna on top. the special roll was only $ 5.75 and it tasted fine so i think the special rolls are a pretty good deal but otherwise, the taste is only okay.

Really inexpensive sushi that is a good value for the price. However, the woman serving us was not attentive at all. She was very pleasant though, and it may have been my unquenchable thirst, but the service took a backseat it seemed; at least on this visit.

I really like this place a lot, I’m new to Vancouver and I will be a regular customer from now on! I really liked the spicy agedashi tofu and uni sashimi and the hand rolls!

I have been a regular customer for at least 5 years now. I am very happy that they opened up the restaurant again. Ro’s has a variety of special rolls and they do not disappoint. My favourite items on their menu: agedashi tofu and the Volcano roll. The food is delicious and the items are more than affordable. They get very busy during the lunch rush due to medical and business workers in the area. It’s best to come in for a late lunch(1−3pm) or do take out. Julian is a great owner and he makes sure that every customer is satisfied.

We had lunch here on a friend’s recommendation, and we were not disappointed. It’s very basic, but the sushi was fresh and delicious, and well-priced.

Had to wait for 5 minutes to get seated even though two tables were available. Waited for another 10 minutes with hope to see the menu — no luck. Left. Wrote this review while at the restaurant next door while still hungry and grumpy.

Fresh, authentic, well priced. Menus is outdated but the food is super fresh! Great portion. Huge portion for chicken karage and the seaweed salad is amaZing! Love the owner and love the quick service. There are three To four japanese restaurants on Broadway. Sushi dragon, sushi bang, California, this is truly the better one.

Just barely. Not saying it’s all that, but compared to Sushi Bang and Black Dragon, this is the more spacious, updated one, but that’s about it, food’s pretty average. After all, it’s not run by Japanese. And thus, so are the prices: they’re reasonable, and you get what you pay for. I tried the Las Vegas roll, hoping it may be a hidden gem, but alas, no dice. Good for the spice level, I’ll give it that. Rice also off a bit. But there’s cheap deals, 18 pcs vegetarian roll for $ 6.50?! They’ve got quite the extensive menu, a bit too much considering katsu, teriyaki, and curry sections are there too! I’d hate to be the buyer there, that’s lots of ingredients to keep fresh and the challenge, but I digress. If you’re going to make katsu, be good at it — obviously not talking about Zac Zac in DT that totally specializes in this deep fried goodness ;)

Chicken teriyaki box was terrible, kappa maki was decent. Glad we went to Black and Blue for dinner on Valentine’s Day!

How I heard of this place: I was in Vancouver leading a few workshops on Cravings and«The Bahá’í Diet» and my friends Tobin & Sarah recommended the place for some of the best sushi in the neighborhood. While I can’t speak to other establishments, I must say this is some of the best I have tried in Vancouver over the years. Type of cuisine: Japanese, Sushi Ambiance: The place is a bit of a whole in the wall — especially when you enter through the back(parking lot) and have to walk through the kitchen where staff are frantically washing dishes and running trays and things back and forth to the restaurant area. It threw me off slightly when I almost bumped into a man purposefully exiting the kitchen and stopping abruptly to put things down in front of me — on a chair in the hallway — apparently meant to store drying dishes. Very simple décor if you’d even call it that. Completely casual, though a young Japanese man wearing a pinstriped suit and sunglasses, sporting an emo hairdo strolled in about half-way through our meal to order take-out. What I ordered: Maple Roll — spicy salmon over crab, cucumber and avocado, The Volcano Roll — spicy crab topped with rolls filled with scallop, tuna, salmon, avocado, temp. style(according to the menu) and Viva Las Vegas Roll — crab, unagi, avocado, cream cheese, spicy tempura. The Las Vegas Rolls at Wasabi Bistro are always a favorite, so I just had to try the Vegas at Ro. What I loved: My favorite was the Viva Las Vegas Roll. Why I loved it: Firstly, I loved it because it had unagi, which is one of my all-time favorite sushi ingredients. Additionally, it was spicy and flavorful, lightly tempura fried to add a crisp texture to the softness of the cream cheese and avocado. Also, it came without the tobiko, which, for me, is a plus any day. Cost: CAD$ 5.50-CAD$ 8.50 for a plate of eight sushi

The service was decent but the sushi wasn’t very good. The rice was dry, the flavours were bland. Not awful, but definitely not my favourite.

I enjoy Ro Sushi. It’s true that perhaps there are fancier places, but I personally feel like the service and food is great. I come fairly regularly and they are always friendly. If you want to have your life changed by a Sushi experience Ro might disappoint… On the other hand if you want friendly, reliable and over all solid Sushi at a decent price, this is the spot.

I moved into the neighbourhood recently and have tried a few places, perhaps 4. This was the one where there were no flies flying around my sushi. Ok, so I’ve returned here a couple times now and no flies those other visits either. Anyhow, enough about flies. They have clean washrooms and the table wasn’t sticky. Food was decent. There are better places for sushi, but this place is better than average for an average price, thus I considered it fair value. The people were relatively friendly and I received my bento box pretty quickly. There are TVs there and I was surprised that the traffic wasn’t more noticeable.

My husband and I love this place. We used to go all the time at the old location and were so sad and when it closed as there is now a new building going up. Hilariously we would still call the number on the take out menu which they would still answer and ask them when they were opening again. I am so glad they are back! Where else can you get specialty rolls at such a cheap price. Favs are the Saskatchewan roll, Amber roll and the green hornet.

It’s difficult to find a good, consistent«commodity» sushi along that Broadway corridor. It’s not bad for the price, but it’s a fast food sushi joint like most others. The quality of the food might be a step up, but the service is the peak of average, or a little bit of hit and miss, but averaging out to average over several visits. No complaints, nothing to write home about. I might be back, might not. But you shouldn’t hesitate to go in if you think you might want to but aren’t sure.

Food is always fresh and reasonable. Had my fave«the bento box special» It’s always a big quantity for me but it’s only $ 6.95 comes with beef/chicken rice, California roll, mixed tempura, a little salad portion with miso soup. Can’t go wrong with the price and portion! I always get my son to help me with the extras… Lol!

Average sushi, standard menu with some crazy rolls and a tuna and salmon centric menu. Dinner for two(no drinks) was $ 40, so not bad. The Gomae was the best thing we had– some kind of a buckwheat /black sesame sauce instead of peanut. Nice. All in all, not bad but there is intense competition in Vancouver and nothing good enough to come back for.

Not sure what the hype is all about… I’ve been twice now during lunch hours and I haven’t been impressed. The first time I had a sushi combo and didn’t think it was particularly fresh. The tuna, in particular, was too mushy and smelled a bit fishy. The second, I went for a chicken yaki-udon. The chicken was clearly the chicken prepared for their teriyaki chicken. It was seasoned the same and had exactly the same appearance as the chicken my friend had in her Bento Box. The yaki-udon sauce was fine and I appreciated all the veggies they put into it, but it was overall unevenly panfried, there were some parts that were quite ‘white’, and a small bit of it was clumped together. My friends(and people on Unilocal!) seem to be a fan of their special rolls, and I can’t speak to that, so I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt. The service both times have been very mediocre. If you aren’t going to at least be pleasant with me, then at least be quick so I don’t have to suffer! Despite having many free tables(I usually have lunch pretty late), it took longer than I’d like.
