It’s closed! Out of business… The only surprise is that it lasted as long as it did

My partner and I came in for a quick breakfast this past Sunday. Not expecting much, I was pleasantly surprised by their excellent customer service. My eggs were a bit too soft for my liking but I was too afraid to say anything. The attentive server noticed my hesitation and offered to have them re-done. Within moments I had a fresh plate served with kindness-no attitude what so ever. How absolutely refreshing to have such attentive, compassionate service with just a nice relaxed, friendly vibe. Great breakfast deal. Great service. We will be back.

Pretty damn decent $ 4.99 breakfast. The shrimp and avocado eggs Benny is great too. The service was a bit slow in their first few weeks, but we had an excellent server this morning. Extra bonus: a big space and never a line up!

Needed breakfast, and as this was our second choice, it should have been our first! It was nice and quiet inside, and the server was extremely on point. We always had fresh coffee in our cups. I wasn’t sure what to have, so with the server recommendation I had an asparagus and mushroom omlette with peppers, brie, and other stuff in it. It was piping hot and looked amazing. The taste was incredible! I absolutely loved it. Husband had Eggs Benny and he said they were great as well. Proper water poached egg, and everything. The prices were great too, and if you check in, you get 15% off. They were more than accommodating for everything! Will for sure go back when I’m in the area again!

This was my second time dining at Roland’s. My first experience was fantastic. The place was quiet but the service was amazing. Roland himself made it a point to introduce himself. It was definitely appreciated. This time the experience was good, but nothing out of this world. Our server was friendly and attentive and checked up on us regularly. We made use of the wing special(wings are $ 0.35 with the purchase of a drink), with a side of fries, and I enjoyed a couple glasses of the $ 4 wine special(wine and wings? Weird, I know. It’s okay. The rest of the group enjoyed the beer special). The fries and drinks were good, but I didn’t think the wings were saucy enough. In hindsight, I should have mentioned it to our server when she came by to check on us, but I was too immersed in conversation. Still, the specials at Roland’s are pretty sweet, and the service is great, so I’ll be back again. Next time I’ll just ask for the wings to be super saucy.

We walked by Rolands and we decided to give it a go. We had three different flavours of the wings at $ 3.50 for ten and they were very meaty and delicious! The Tuna appetizer was also very good! I had two pints that were real 20 oz. Pints for $ 5 each. They were a great value with excellent service! We will definitely be back!

Good food but they are not well organized. I went to this place for the first time on khatsahlano festival because the place looks very welcoming. First, the hostess said we could seat but we had to wait 30 — 40min to get food because the kitchen was really slow. Ok, no problem. Second, we got the menu and ordered a cocktail, the waitress said they were not preparing cocktails because the bar was too busy. Ok. Third, we ordered a pasta that was inside of the menu. The waitress went to the kitchen and came back saying the menu was wrong and they were not preparing pasta because the kitchen was to busy. There was only burgers and sandwich. Ok, the last chance we gave to them, it finally worked. I had maple bacon and cheese sandwich that was good and I also tried veggie burger and classic burger both good as well. The staff was nice and location is good too, but I am not sure if I plan to return when there are so many good options in that area.

Amazing weekend happy hour. Lovely open patio. Super cold beers. Very tasty appies, loved the bruschetta and curry coconut shrimp. Attentive service, it’s my second time here and they’re very friendly. The whole menu looks really good, can’t wait to come back and try the burgers. This place deserves to be busier.

It’s Happy Hour! If you haven’t tried this place out, give it a shot. We have eaten here a few times in the past couple of weeks due to its convenience and we’ve been impressed every time. Support local independent business because that’s what Roland’s is and they could use a little support.

This place was dead so I assumed it would be bad, but we were desperate for a post-beach patio. I was very pleasantly surprised. Great wings. Everything we had was well prepared and for 3 jaded, generally cynical people we were all quite impressed.

Great food. I eat here every so often and the curry prawns are always a hit! Burgers are excellent, and the fried pickle spears are delicious. Great happy hour deals, but a very fair priced menu to begin with. The music is never too loud and the staff are always spectacular. Would reccommend.

We got plan after brunch at Kitsilano, so we picked Roland’s on Fourth to try this time. I rarely to for brunch or dinner at Sports bar but Roland’s is a good place to hang out with big groups. Big TV screen every where. We had shrimp benny and traditional benny. Both were mediocre, coffee was crappy! For Unilocalers, get 15% off when you check in via Unilocal

We popped into Rolands because our first choice was full. We were a little skeptical as the place was empty when everywhere else in the area the busy busy! I liked the atmosphere, it was cozy and cool. The service was great, very attentive. We started with the bocconcini salad which was ok, the scallops were amazing and the duck pizza would have been perfect if only it had more cheese! Dear Mr. Pizza make: always more cheese! The cocktail/martini list was interesting in a «I want to try them all» kinda way :) but I always want to try them all do that could be biased…

My date had been wanting to take me to Rolands for awhile, but it was sort of a let down. Over priced food and drinks. Not that the food is bad but it’s similar to cactus or earls… but$ 1 – 3 more. My date had the showbiz burger, I had the lettuce wraps with chicken and the sweet and spicy wings. The chicken for the wraps seemed over cooked, made the chicken hard. Anyway we also were not given utensils or napkins, so I got up and got it for us. The server didn’t even acknowledge that she forgot to give them to us and had the nerve to ask if we were doing ok half way through our meal. I’d understand if they were crazy busy but they weren’t so, no excuse. My small 6oz drink was $ 9.00! The Ginberry I took a pic of here. That’s just not right. The drink also was not tasty. The people seated next to us didnt get their food until were were finished our meal and they arrived 5 mins after us. Poor people were staring at our food. Overall great patio but poor service with mediocre food that’s way over priced. Too bad Rolands. No recommendations.

It was a very slow night so we got attentive and stellar service. Room is a bit weird shape wise but nicely done. Menu was good — not a lot of choices but enough to have a good meal. Prices are reasonable. Wine list is very short but again(barely) enough options to get something.(Note to Roland — need more choice) Mussels were excellent. Lamb shank equally so. Steak sandwich was ok. Dessert — NY Cheesecake with chocolate sauce — was very good. Would I go back given the plenitude of choices in Kits? Yep.

I wondered what became of the old ‘Hell’s Kitchen’ as I was looking for a new place to check out, and I was with my mother. It was a rainy day, it was coming down like cats & dogs and luckily I was able to find parking on West 4th. This area has tons of parking, mostly paid, and usually right up front and good thing on this day, so I didn’t have to walk through the rain. When I walked up the familiar step right through the door, I was amazed at what they did to the joint. Right when you enter you notice that they spent some good money giving this place a needed facelift, gone is the«Bordello of Blood» look that the previous joint was going for, gone is the red tinge that made everyone, even the person across from you look… well… red faced, gone is the darkness that once was, this is a new place, not one that took over an old joint, stuck some new people and a name on it… nope, quiet a change indeed if anyone remembers the former shack. I can see that on any night, this place would be a good alternative to catch any sports game, this place is definitely built to accomodate you eating, drinking and watching a game all in the same motion. Whether you are sitting in the newly renovated bar area, or dining in one of their huge booths, there is a tv somewhere, you might have to turn your head, but you’re not missing much. That being said, how did this place get so big… as I remember it was small… well they got rid of the area that used to serve out the takeout pizza, and created more seating due to this, so if you have a big party. don’t worry about them not being able to accomodate… just hope you get here in time to get a table. So, onto the food(we do want to know how it taste?)… we were given menus, and aside from the specials they had appetizers, hand helds(like the name), salads(cause some people are health conscious), burgers(hey, what’s the difference from handhelds?), pizza… and an assortment of mains. On this rainy lunch we ended up ordering a lettuce wrap and a strip loin baguette to share and patiently waited for it to come out, enjoying the new scenery. Not too long getting comfortable the food came, very nicely presented on crisp white plates, filled with food. For my baguette, I substitued the side fries with yam fries, and they were in their own bowl, with a side serving of gravy and the meat was served on a sour dough bun. I was surprised how meaty this dish was, and there was a reason for the big toothpick, as I should have kept it stabbed in it’s place. Every bite I made, I had to save the other pieces from falling out, I was only able to finish half of it, and pawned the other half to my mom. Her order of lettuce wrap was another, whoa. that’s quite a bit of food… they practically gave you half a lettuce head, not exagerating here! They gave a good serving of well marinated chicken, it was saucy, but not overly saucy, with a ton of nuts sprinkled on top, green onions, water chestnuts, sweet soy… it’s a good mix. In the end… we were stuffed, not even half the day gone, hoping no food coma would hit. This place wasn’t bad, it may give Bimini’s across the street a good run for it’s money… I think people just need to get to know this place, as I found it pretty comfortable to be in. If your thinking of a new place to drink… and your around here… give it a shot.

Roland’s is great and here’s why: they’ve turned a dirty dingy place into a stunning open, clean and modern space. It’s seriously awesome in there. You get a mix of sports bar, fine dining but without the high prices. Roland himself is a great person and his friendly personality alone will keep me coming back. Great food and a great atmosphere. Our server was great too. Very attentive. They’ve got quite a few kinks to work out, but of course it’s to be understood. It’s a new business. Here’s a few tips Roland: maybe serve food as its ready if you only have one chef on hand and that way food still comes out hot instead of waiting for it to all be ready and by then the first meal is cold. Second huge tip. Have the staff there to immediately greet customers when they walk in instead of standing around for what seems like forever to finally have someone come out. People can get antsy and just walk out! Especially if they’re already«hangry». Last tip: from my past few experiences and reading others that share the same. Get that chef to hurry his butt up! Because 45 mins-hour for your food to come out in an empty restaurant is a huge no-no. So there you have it. My 2 cents. Hope you guys take these tips in serious consideration because honestly this restaurant has SO much potential to be rockin kits. See you guys soon!

Date and I were walking to get sushi when we noticed this new beautiful restaurant. After checking the menu’s selection and reasonable prices we decided to sit. The atmosphere of this place is amazing. Gorgeous chandelier and décor. My date being gluten intolerant, we ordered GF Calamari. Came quickly and was delicious Now the disappointment. Our waiter reassured us 3 times that our order would be arriving within minutes. Over an hour later our waiter delivers our food. Whom I assume is a manager comped our appetizer for our wait which was very nice of her. Apparently there had been a mix up. This being a new restaurant I completely understand kinks are going to happen. We found a hair in our food, informed the lady and she told us it wasn’t a hair. Both of us being tired at this point and done either the whole experience, didn’t argue. Overall great food and atmosphere. Total experience with the service wasn’t great so I would definitely wait a few months for the ‘kinks’ to be worked out before trying again. *** updated review. Absolutely love this place now. The actual manager is great and the service just keeps getting better and better. So glad to have the restaurant close to home. The food is amazing.

Went for brunch today. Table for 2. Was there for 75 min. Only had a coffee, I ended up walking out after waiting almost an hour for eggs Benedict. Terrible service, I would not recommend this place. 10 tables, 3 servers, and barely anything coming out of the kitchen. Truly disappointing. Needless to say, I will never go back.

Someone told me about this new place in Kits. Me and a friend stopped by to grab a meal. We were pleasantly surprised, lots of big LCD’s everywhere, nice décor. I had the tequila chicken, my friend had the steak. Both were solid and I would definitely come back again. Our server was great and friendly, would be a great place to have a party. Lots of room and a great bar area.
