Great experience — the lady who helped me couldn’t have been more accommodating, letting me figure out what I wanted and even putting her shoe/foot up on the counter for me to visually assess the accessory I liked best. Too bad the renovations outside obscure the store and make it a bit difficult to get inside but I hope people make the effort and support local. I’ll be back!

I’ve walked by this store dozens of times upon browsing the Main Street area, however, never bothered to visit until this weekend. Actually the sun was shinning in the right direction and lit up their bright pink building for the first time in my view. I walked in with the intention of grabbing a 2014 roller girl schedule and upon leaving I saw the most awesome thing… wings for your shoes(skates, however, used them for my runners). Buying winged shoes are $ 200, however, you can add your own wings for $ 7 to an existing pair. The store is large. Good selection of skates with a decent size floor for trying the skates on. The girl who was working at the til was very friendly and helpful. She helped me put the wings on my shoes.

Locally owned by one of the founders of modern roller derby here in Vancouver, Lisa knows her stuff. She tests out everything she sells. I’ve bought all my derby stuff from since starting my derby journey in 2007. Lisa and her staff will take the time to talk about what gear will best suit your body type and skating style. I had a pair of custom skates put together to suit me that I’m in love with. Can’t make it into the store front, go online to . Website is well laid out, shipping is fast and affordable.

By far the best experience for this type of specialty store. Although they’re the only roller skate shop in Vancouver, I have visited skate shops in Seattle and Toronto and RollerGirl goes above and beyond the regular call of duty. I have relied on both the storefront and the online store for all my derby needs for the past three years and I will continue to be a customer well until I can no longer skate. RollerGirl helps you step by step whether it’s purchasing your first pair of skates or finding the right knee pads for the type of skating you do. Best of all, you don’t have to be a derby girl to enjoy this store. If you’re looking to buy your first pair of classic Quad skates to roll along the Seawall or doing some roller boogie, I promise you you will not leave there empty handed.

How can you not leave Lisa’s shop with a big grin on your face? Every time I go in there, I spend three times as much money than I budgeted for, but WHOCARES! Lisa and her staff make you feel welcome even if you’re a first-timer and you’re not sure what you want. Everything from your basic beginner derby skate to blingin’ Antiks to old school art skates! Oh, and CHICABOMBSHORTS. yesplease!

First up, Rollergirl Rollerskates is *not* closed — in fact, they are doing so well that they have a shop on Main Street now!(i’ve notified Unilocal about this and hope they update the business entry soon!). Roller skating gear, like any other sport, isn’t cheap. Looking for some parts to upgrade my roller skates, I found that prices for US skate shops are generally cheaper by a few dollars but when you factor in shipping(even to a US address)…it evens out. But that’s not the reason you should shop here! AMAZING customer service. 7 months ago, I walked in as a newbie who had never even stood on skates before, and when I walked in to get some awesome new wheels, I got the same amazing service. What is even more awesome is that I was able to ask via email beforehand what type of wheels I should get based on my skating style, weight, skill level, skate boot style, etc. Knowing that Lisa and her employees test out *everything* they sell, I was quite confident in their choices. Lo and behold, the new wheels are excellent! I’m really happy to support a locally– and derby-owned business.

Rollergirl has it all; gear for the most advanced roller derby skater, gear for the novice, skates for the roller disco queen and specialty gear for agressive quad skaters. What sets this business far apart from the bargain basement online retailers is Rollergirl’s stance on customer service. They stand behind everything they sell. It doesn’t hurt that everyone who works there is totally passionate about what they do too! Rollergirl isn’t closed — it’s actually moved to a new location!

Why can’t all retail experiences be like this? I have nothing but good to say about Rollergirl / . Lisa and Chelsea go out of their way to create a relaxed, no pressure, customer based experience. Something you would expect with any retail experience but rarely seem to get. In addition to dealing with RollerGirl RollerSkates in-store, my experiences on-line have been been just as favorable; prompt reply to email inquiry and fast affordable shipping. Not just the owner, but also a client… Lisa, «Rollergirl», arguably the star of the Terminal City Roller Girls is able to provide an unparalleled first hand experience of her products, being a derby girl herself. Taking the hits and scoring the grand slams on the same flat-track as your customers… its a good reason to keep the clientèle happy. Outside the the retail aspect, website is a great way to keep updated with most everything derby in western Canada /USA. From bout(derby match) information and tickets to information on getting involved in derby… The fastest growing womens sport in North America.
