First of all, the doors don’t have signs of entrance and exit so you have to approach them and wait them to open… Or not. Next, it closes at 12 am when most of others shoppers are 24⁄7 and given the fact that it is in a busy downtown area close to many hotels. It just has a small fridge and no variety of product such as milk or pop. At the entrance, there are often homeless people asking for change. In conclusion, you probably won’t find what you’re looking for and probably will save time if you go directly to the Safeway that is just a couple blocks away.

I had a bad experience at this store, I have shopped there for years and have spent a lot of money there in particular the cosmetics department, and they are great. However I did want to let the manager Linda know about the issue and she yelled at me and was extremely vicious about the incident. She would not listen or take responsibility for her actions and bad behaviour, if this is the manager, I feel for the people who work there. Linda is a detriment to that organization and I have lodged a formal complaint with the head office, hopefully they do something about it. I have decided that I will not longer shop there as there is a London Drugs very close.

prices for perscriptions are quite high stopped going when I found that my plan which covers 80% was only getting 60% back something fishy, then one day while shopping a mouse ran across the floor, gross.

Always seem like every hood in vancouver needs a Shoppers! Like how this one is connected to the Denman Mall, albeit an old, tiny one, but does connect to the Coast hotel if you need to use the washrooms :) Shoppers never have public washrooms. Smaller store, only open til midnite. Have a Canada Post in the back for your mailing/envelope needs. Metered parking can be tough.

SHOPPERSOPTIMUMPOINTS!!! This is the thing about membership cards: I love them. No matter how pointless they are. These Optimum points take quite a while to accumulate for them to be worth anything at all. I can’t say I spend over $ 50 at Shopper’s on EVERY visit. Sometimes, I pop in just to browse or pick up an eyeliner, a mascara, a bottle of nail polish, etc. Look out for good deals on those! Now this particular Shopper’s is my favourite. Perhaps it’s close to home, and the cosmetic section is a GEM! The cosmetic counter is always open with the FRIENDLIEST people behind it. I never hesitate to ask questions in that section; in fact, I often do because I enjoy having a chat with them. The best thing about them is that they’re not pushy. It’s not like they’ll shove 10 products in your face while they answer your questions. You can normally trust them to make quite fair recommendations as long as you tell them exactly what you’re looking for. The pharmacy area is also quite lovely. The pharmacists are nice enough, although I’ve only filled a prescription once or twice with them. I’ve seen them with other customers, and they always seem to be helpful. AND if you should walk pass the greeting cards section and realised you’d forgotten to send someone a greeting card… Well, choose one, sign it, seal it and have it mailed right there at the Post Office inside! Splendid!

Hello, my name is Rebecca and I’m a Shoppers Drug Mart addict… Everytime I walk into this place, which incidentally is about four or five times a week, I end up leaving with WAY more than I intended buying. Where else can I get my perscriptions filled, my blood pressure tested, find cheapy makeup, chocolate, febreeze and my pomegranate iced tea all in one place… not to mention the copious amounts of candy I will also leave with. The lines can be a bit long but I generally chalk that up to the geriatric crew that roll through there on a constant basis — eh — I manage. My optimum points have brought me much joy over the years, my motto is generally free stuff rocks: P Shoppers, you have a lifetime customer in me, just keep hiring friendly staff and we will remain life long friends…

A Shoppers is a Shoppers is a Shoppers. This happens to be a slightly older Shoppers than most, which ultimately means smaller selection and slightly outdated interior, but other than that, it’s a Shoppers. Same life-brand medications and candies, same toilet paper sales, same funny rule about keeping the razor blades behind the checkout — it’s all the same at Shoppers Drug Mart. But, a big difference: the pharmacists at this location really seem to care. No matter what I ask, they will all take the time to help me out — whether it be regarding a new medication or advice on supplements, they don’t hesitate to give me the best possible advice. This kind of service is invaluable in an era where a person can buy milk, cheese, razor blades, and a prescription in the same place. It’s personal, and I like that. So, I suppose while it’s not open 24 hours and doesn’t sell bus tickets or dairy products(thank god), this Shoppers does have the drug part locked down. Appropriate, non?

I usually patronize the 24-hour store on Davie Street but tonight, I chose to walk the extra distance to this store(which makes me less American, but I digress). This store seems smaller than the Davie Street location. The staff are much friendlier here than at the Davie Street location. You are greeted as you enter the store and then given a few minutes to attempt to locate your items before they ask if you need help. Being located on Denman Street, one of many streets which has lots of foot traffic, there is not really a need to compete with Safeway or London Drugs(despite the fact there is a Safeway 4 blocks north of this location at the corner of Denman and Robson Streets and a London Drugs about 4 blocks southeast of this location, on Davie Street). You will find the prices on products to be $ 1 or $ 2 higher here though when the products are on sale, they are usually about $ 0.50 to $ 0.75 higher. I realize that in Canada everything has to be higher because everything is printed in 2 languages(usually 2 or 3 languages in the US) or the fact there are not that many people there so there is less demand or the fact the CAD dollar is lower than the USD(although prices now are a little higher than when the CAD was 30 cents lower than the USD while now it is about 3 – 6 cents lower than the USD). Okay, I cannot think of any more excuses used for higher prices. That being said, the prices should roughly match their competitors with 5 to 25 cents(comparing regular price to regular price). This price differential was the reason I did not rate it at 4 stars.
