My cousins works for Sichuan airlines and he tells me he comes here to order a Hot and Sour Vermicelli bowl every time he’s in town and is in need of a homesick fix. Out on the display you see some staple Chinese food court dishes such as Black Pepper Beef and sauced up stir fries but what draws my attention are the items written in Chinese of some classic Sichuan dishes such as Pig Intestine Vermicelli bowl, Cold Noodle Salad(spicy!), Dan Dan noodles to name a few. When I placed my order for the Hot and Sour Vermicelli bowl I had the choice of medium/very spicy and medium/very peppery which I went for the medium level just to be safe though I thought to myself«…» when I had the first few bites but the heats build up, the flavors sing together, and the deep fried peanuts, crispy lettuces, crunchy diced green onions, cilantro crunch together in perfect harmony. As I worked my way through the bowl, my nose began to ran and I had to reach for more napkins and unwrap my scarf. I must say I was a bit disappointed that the vermicelli were not searing hot like they just came out of the pot. Am I impressed? Hmmmm I think I’ll come back and try a few other items before I have a firm conclusions. Stay tuned folks. Cheerio!
