Love this place! It’s a hole in the wall with great food for cheap. I usually get the western breakfast(2 eggs, bacon, french toast which is to DIE for, and I usually get the ham & macaroni in broth) and another dish — usually the beef curry. All of their dishes are cheap and awesome. As other people have mentioned, each order comes with a free drink! I love the Dong Leng Cha, which is the HK version of iced tea with fresh lemon slices. This is usually enough for 2 people to eat with leftovers to take home. The owner is really friendly and she will give you more rice to take home if you’d like. I think for 2 people, I haven’t paid more than $ 15 including tip!

Good Chinese food– tasty, and great value! But don’t be fooled– the delicious looking pictures that are in the entrance window(what enticed me to go in in the first place) are merely for decoration– the items pictured are NOT on the menu! Hilarious :)

This is a great hole-in-the wall restaurant owned by a Chinese family. The lady who runs things at the front of house is so cute! Very friendly and actually takes the time to get to know her customers. I used to come here all the time with my mom when I lived in Vancouver. Every time I go back to visit my mom, we always make a stop here. The owner still remembers us and every time she’d ask how I’m doing in SF. She would then go on to tell us about how her own daughter is doing(she used to help out at the restaurant but I think she’s back in HK now). I go back to Vancouver as often as I can(about 3 – 4 times a year). Not so much to visit my mom and friends, sadly, but for the cheap, ubiquitous, and authentic Chinese food! Because I most of my visits are over long weekends, I have to be very picky about where/what I eat in that short period of time. At Sun Fat, I’ve pared it down to my two favourite things — fried chicken wings and pan-fried rice rolls.(These are, in my opinion, their standouts. Their other dishes are pretty standard — decent, but I’ve had better elsewhere. Cheap though!) Their DEEP-FRIEDCHICKENWINGS are seasoned and cooked impeccably. They make them to order so they always come out piping hot. The meat is moist and so tender and the skin is perfectly crispy. And you get 6 wings for $ 3! The RICENOODLEROLLS are pan-fried with soy sauce. They’re nicely browned on the outside and chewy on the inside. My favourite part is that they give you a tray with all the fixings(sweet sauce, sesame sauce, hot sauce, sesame seeds) in bottles so you can use as much(or little) as you want. I like to smother my rice rolls in sweet and sesame sauces. At other restaurants they give you this dinky little dish of sauces and it’s never enough. It’s nice not to have to feel bad asking for more(repeatedly) here :) We always tip well(it’s hard not to when the food is so cheap and the service is so friendly). Every time the owner will tell us it’s unnecessary, and then thank us profusely when we refuse to take the money back. You also get a free drink with every order!

Love this place! Chinese comfort food in a cosy hole in the wall location! Yummers. the free drink with meal is a bonus… and unfortunately I’ve missed the karoake. Friendly and homey… just writing this is making me want to run over to Kingsway for something wonderful.

A gem! My favorite place to come to after working out, the food is pretty authentic and the portion is excellent. The interior and the karaōke in the background could be somewhat of a cheese fest, but who cares when the food is this good? The dishes also come with a free drink.

Another great hidden treasure buried on Kingsway along with all the other asian restaurants. I’m always a fan of a great mom&pop shop where they really do «know your name». I come here about once every month or two and the owner always remembers our last conversation. She remembers my favorites and also tells me when she last saw my dad eating at the restaurant. Doesn’t look very special but the warmness you feel from the owner is just so. inviting. The menu is bilingual and easy to order from. Very inexpensive for authentic chinese«hong kong style café» food. Which sort of equates to «fast food». The restaurant is located right on Kingsway so I think from 3 – 6 there is no parking. The owner reminds you that its 3 if you parked out front cause she knows that the parking police WILL ticket you! Also, if you had some rice in your meal, and you need to take it to go, she will ask the chef(her husband) to pack you some more rice so you will have enough for lunch tomorrow! Gotta love a place that looks out for your lunch the next day!
