The closest Vancouver has to a full-on Sanrio(of ‘Hello Kitty’ fame) clothing store. Ideal place if you want to dress like a Taiwanese pop star and/or love wearing über-limited streetwear labels *cough* hypebeast *cough*… and you’re are skinny enough to fit a ‘L’ in Asian sizing(no dick jokes, please) or need XXS in womens’ sizes. This boutique store carries a bunch of funky tees/sweaters/jackets/hats from local brand WrongWroks and some Taiwanese/Japanese brands unfamiliar to me — usually paying homage, poking fun and/or blatantly ripping off the overhyped streetwear brands… along with some limited pieces from the overhyped streetwear brands like BAPE and Supreme. Methinks designer wants to state a message, consumer just wants to buy some clothing that resembles BAPE/Supreme/overhyped-flavour-of-the-month. There’s also a large selection of trucker hats from the various brands — apparently still the rage in Harajuku and its sphere of influence? I thought that died with Ashton Kutcher over here. There’s also a collection of vinyl toys — but the selection is pretty small compared to Voltage or Headquarter. As it’s a few storefronts down from Livestock(the W 4th one), I usually do a looky-loo in here when I’m in the area. The staff seem nice enough even though it’s obvious I’m far too oversized to fit anything in here outside of a lanyard or a messenger bag. However, I have much fewer«Oh crap, this ___is awesome, I wish I could fit this!» moments than when going to Subdivision. Worth a stop-by if you’re in the area(Livestock and a bunch of skatewear stores are nearby) — it caters to a very small audience(who wear small sizes) with a limited selection. If you fit their demographic, this place is probably retail mecca — but most people(like me) probably won’t get it.
