Okay! I am from San Francisco and I must say that I loved the quality of the sushi at this place. I had the Vancouver, Spicy White Dragon and the Mango. All were delicious! The prices were astronomically great — so cheap! The only reason they get 4 stars is that the gentleman never brought me the Sriracha Sauce I requested and he acknowledged. I like my stuff spicy — he was busy, so I didn’t bother him. In all, it was delicious, great quality and great prices.

Decent little place on Hornby near Nelson. Stopped in here because Shizen Ya is always super packed. Service was fast and the food was good. They only serve wild salmon and they have brown rice options as well. Honestly I found this place to be better than Shizen Ya. Don’t let the interior fool you.

Very great place. Even before I’ve sat down I already have tea and soup by my side for free… And the soup was delicious. A very friendly place. I highly recommend it. I just think they need to better show their place off with a bit of TLC and better branding. They suffer at the cost of their next door neighbours(who look pretty fancy!)

Very happy that I stopped in here as there was a sushi restaurant literally next door that was rammed packed. This location had only one person upon my arrival. My initial thought was, this must be the dive out of the two yet I was craving sushi and didn’t want to wait or deal with crowds so I took a chance. I ordered chicken rolls, California rolls and cucumber & avocado rolls. My first thought was that they looked small compared to other sushi restaurants I’ve been to. True story, yet they were all very fresh & tasty and the seaweed was amazing. They claim it is organic and the taste was noticeably nicer. On top of that, the ginger was great too. Typically, I don’t finish all the ginger from sushi restaurants if I touch them at all; here I ate it all. So while the rolls might have been smaller, they were great and totally left me feeling satisfied.

Excellent service and excellent food, loved the agedashi tofu and brown rice options… we had planned to go next door and the line up forced us to try this and we were pleasantly surprised.

Did a take out order from here for lunch today. My favourite combo is the one that includes wonton soup, California roll, gyoza, and salad for just under $ 10 taxes in. Taste is probably what you expect from any other sushi restaurant, definitely is passable and is way up there for value. Where else can I easily get some Chinese food with my Japanese food! It does have to be noted that it gets very warm inside the restaurant, so you might want to think twice before dining inside.(One of my biggest pet peeves is smelling like my lunch.) Anyways, although I am not a frequent regular here, I will definitely be back when I am crave both sushi and wontons!

After leaving two restaurants due to long waits and being told from another restaurant basically that our party was too big, we found this restaurant right next door literally. At first glance the place is small like alot of places in downtown Vancouver but this place was the least busy especially for a Saturday night. They sat us down immediately for a group of seven and we were all given complimentary tea which helped us warm up from the cold weather. There menu had many options to choose from such as sushi, ramen, teriyaki bowls, and the list can go on! A plus is the food came out fairly fast! I ordered the 3 item special with free miso soup for $ 9.95. There is a long list to choose from so your combinations are practically unlimited. I was very hungry so my three choices were teriyaki chicken bowl, teriyaki beef bowl, and curry bowl. They are mini size but it was still a good amount and got me full. The curry chicken was my last favorite. It could have been better but the chicken teriyaki was good and tender! My favorite was the beef teriyaki bowl which had a taste much similar to sukiyaki. We also ordered a bowl of ramen which was surprisingly tasty! We also got California rolls were and they were good(can’t go wrong with California rolls). The Toro sushi was great and fresh tasting and the saba(mackerel) was also good! I wish I would have ordered more sushi items We got tempura shrimp which was delicious! It was battered lightly and fried to perfection. This would be s perfect appetizer! All in all we only ended up spending seventy dollars which was super cheap. This place is a life saver and a hidden gem in my opinion. Definitely give this place a try if you’re hangry and want fast, cheap, but delicious food!

Cheap no nonsense Chinese-owned sushi place. 3 items for 10 $ Fine value. Dont’ expect too much but solves the sushi craving. I actually prefer places like this to Korean-style sushi that utilizes too much sauce.

Some of the best most generous rolls ever. Poorly decorated, but if you don’t care about atmosphere and you simply want delicious sushi then this is a great place to go. Next door was packed so we came here, and were glad we did :)

Decent little place on Hornby near Nelson. Really liked the $ 9.95 lunch deal where you could order 3 items from a fairly large list. Tea was free. Miso soup was included with the special. Only downside is that this place is small. So come early for lunch!

I like hole in the wall joints — this is kinda one of them — but I didn’t really like it. Don’t come here for authenticity, it’s more of the place to go when the place you want to go to is full, the next favourite is full as well… what I’m trying to say is it’s going to be my ‘last resort’ sushi fix. Food was fresh, prices are good — service was insanely fast — because I was the only one there(this usually worries me). Nothing like getting your japanese tea from an old school commercial coffee pot you’d find at tim horton’s. … but I’m not aiming for anything authentic — but they could at least try a little.

I love my job. Every time we have a Management get-together we end up somewhere awesome for lunch. I have to be honest, my Manager has an affinity for picking amazing places that just look like a hole in the wall. This place was one of them. We needed a quick lunch so we all decided to grab some sushi. When we got there we decided to dine in but the service was still super fast. It came within 15 minutes and they served hot tea and water for free with the meal. While the service was quick, our server was not the best. She was in a hurry and almost forgot 2 people at the table. I get it, it’s lunch but cool your jets. As a previous server I know what happens when you rush. Don’t rush. I ordered the Bento Box C. This came with a spicy tuna roll, tuna and salmon sashimi, Miso soup, wakame salad and a small side of salmon teriyaki. It was excellent. The first time I have ordered a Bento Box and liked every item. And they even have a brown rice option. Nice. The salmon was cooked well, nice and tender, the salmon and tuna sashimi was melt in your mouth and the spicy tuna roll was actually spicy. Kudos! If your near the area and want a somewhat healthy, quick lunch, try this place. It’s small so don’t get too excited about dining in. If you get the same waitress, be a doll and ask her to take a deep breath or have a beer and chillax! Geeze…

You don’t come here for authentic reasons, obviously. Just out of convenience, I suppose but even though i’m not a big fan of Tokyo John sushi down the block, at least it’s bigger, nicer, & more modern, which usually means cleaner. Small joint, about 4 tables. Can’t really recommend to Unilocalers. Food is ok, but service – barely passable english. no parking in front, a block down for meter parking.

A great little sushi place right near my new work — I am soooo relieved! It’s small and narrow, and I always seem to grab the last table at lunch(nyeh heh!). Ok so there’s no fish in it, but I highly recommend the veggie dragon roll — 8 delicious pieces of yam and avocado roll. I swear I was eating it and the number of pieces wasn’t decreasing, felt like an infinity roll! Everything I’ve had here has tasted great so far, I look forward to trying it all :) Oh and the prices are decent!

Inexpensive, delicious and incredibly fast sushi near the Sheraton Wall Centre. We ordered a wide assortment(both specials and menu items) and it was very well-prepared; they clearly have enough traffic coming through to ensure perfect freshness, and the cuts were far more competent that I’d normally expect at these excellent prices. The volcano roll with hemp seed is a tasty standout.

this is a small Japanese place on Hornby St. near my work. I would rarely go there as I had tried some of their daily specials and wasn’t a big fan of the taste. Recently, I accompanied a friend who was going to grab her take out from Sushi Maki and decided to order some of the items under the chef’s specialty rolls part of their menu. I ordered their dragon roll, white dragon roll and California roll topped with salmon sashimi and was taken completely by surprise! The portions were generous, the rolls were well made and had plenty of salmon, avocado and messago and the price was excellent considering the size and the quality of the rolls. Now, I am a frequent visitor but I don’t order their special. Their Hornby rolls and toro sashimi are pretty tasty too.
