The owner is terrible to deal with. I have been here twice and both times he was clearly intoxicated. On my last visit he had cocaine coming out of his nose as well. This guy is out to lunch! Who the hell gave him a business permit?!

These guys are really great, wonderful fresh seafood with ideas on how to cook and servings cut to order. I appreciate the opportunity to stop by the Denman store on my way home from work and grab a sable fish or salmon fillet

Wonderful selection, friendly and helpful staff and the prices are very fair. They offer a selection of free marinade with purchase and they offer some ready made foods as well. They will fillet your fish for you if you are buying a whole one. Join their loyalty program, you get a point for every dollar, and if you love salmon, like we do, you’ll earn a free one in no time. I got two free crab cakes this week from the loyalty program. I don’t think I’ll bother buying seafood at the grocery store again.

Awesome selection of smoked salmon/cured salmon/candied salmon Plus a lot cheaper than what you would find at Granville Island I’ll be back to sample the other items that they have on offer

Fantastic people and a fantastic selection of things. Everyone was friendly. I had sablefish candy and herring rollmops. Both were fantastic and offered artisan bites of seafood. Everything was clean and nicely treated on beds of ice. This place offers quality.

I bought a nice piece of sockeye from here about a week ago. I was impressed with the staff, the selection, and the layout of the store. it’s full of ice, lots of good looking seafood, and plenty of choices. The staff are knowledgeable about the product they carry and are happy to cut any piece for you to the size you like. The prices aren’t cheap, but very fair for the product you are taking home. My only complaint is that they clean the belly off of their salmon, which in my view is the best part of the fish. it’s like taking the tenderloin from a cow and throwing it in the dumpster! keep up the great work, but keep the belly on your salmon!

I went to the big supermarket chain near this place to purchase fish and I left without buying anything. The choices were few and not very appealing so walked over to The Daily Catch. Outside their door, there’s a sandwich board that says the name of the fisherman who caught the halibut they were selling. Great to know because I wanted to buy halibut. When I came in, my eyes were glued to all the choices and when I looked up, the guy greeted me right away asking if there’s anything he could help me with. I asked first, what is the best way to prepare the halibut and he gave me choices. I then asked, if I bake it, would salt and pepper be enough to bring out the taste. And he said yes but then he also said he could give me a marinade for free.(note: In my mind, I was thinking WOW!). He asked me when I plan to cook it and I said tomorrow so he advised that I put the marinade 30 minutes before I cook it. I asked why not overnight it and he responded, the lemon will cook the fish and give it a not so good taste. 30 mins. will give you just the hint of the lemon flavour. As he was preparing my purchase, he also thought of giving me a clear plastic bag so I can put the fish and the marinade in and just shake it. No mess! If this doesn’t deserve 5 stars, I don’t know what does. Everyone should know this place is great and the service is exceptional!
