We shop here all the time. the service is friendly and the product fresh. reading some of the older reviews makes me wonder what it takes to please people. maybe things were different before but for us since 2013 things could not be better.

I hate to give this place two stars. I’ve been here three or four times. I like the layout of the little shop, they carry a few things that are hard to find, and the customer service is friendly. However, the prices are high and quality is hit or miss. I’ve purchased some spices here that turned out to be old and bland. Unfortunately, I will have to go elsewhere for my spices and grains.

Great Selection of Grains and Spices clearly marked and priced. Prices are Market Driven so if you want it they got it and if you need it you will pay for it. Now on to why I am a Fan. The Owner has a Dark and Biting Sense of humor. The Owner has earned the right to broadcast his opinions from behind his cash register. Yes you can buy the same stuff in little packages form Whole Foods but you never get the Owners take on why David Petraeus’s must resign from his CIA posting regarding his extramarital affair Then on to what Bill Clinton was precisely guilty of. You would never get this prospective for Whole Food market staff. Check this place out!

The Grainry at Granville Island Public Market is a great place to go for bulk goods such as lentils and nuts. It’s also great for hard-to-find spices such as Mace, which I’d never heard of until I decided I wanted to make Danish Pebernødder last Christmas. They also sell Forbidden Rice and Thai Red Rice, both of which I’m excited to try cooking with for the first time in the near future. The Grainry is across from the South China Seas Trading Co., so both can easily be visited at the same time.

Lentils in 5 – 6 styles, every died bean on earth, I love the selection of dried everything, if you need trail mix this is the place everything plus more is available in any volume you want, more pecans go for it carob chips add a handful. When paying grab a slab of halva with pistachios.

This used to be my go-to place for flours and nuts, because of their wide bulk selection. If it was in a recipe, even in an ethnic cookbook, I could almost always find it at The Grainry. However, I’ve found dead bugs buried in two separate bags of flour bought here — different types of flour, bought at different times. No bugs in anything else in my pantry, so I’m forced to conclude they came from The Grainry. Too gross — I skip this place now and look for flour elsewhere, as I’m not keen on spending money on flour only to throw it out.

Wicked! This place is totally unique — I’ve never been to one like it. You can find everything grain related! Like a million types of lentils, all kinds of salts and peppers, chocolate, like 3 million types of rice, and more and more and more. I even found Sizcuan pepper and juniper berries here — both somewhat of a rarity. All top quality, too. Anything that you’d want in bulk is available in bulk, otherwise it’s bagged in little Grainry baggies, clearly from their bulk stash somewhere. The proprietor dude is pretty cool, too. Every time I’ve been here he’s been chatting away with one of the other Granville Island biz owners, but as soon as I come up to the counter to pay or ask a question he excuses himself from the conversation to attend to me, his customer. As every good business person should stand by his/her goods, proprietor dude is always munching on some nuts or other products he sells… Nice moves proprietor dude, nice moves.

Great place to find spices, nuts and pretty much everything you’d expect from a bulk natural food store. It’s a bit of a tight space though.

The Grainry is the place to go if you are looking for a variety of grains, rice, pastas, soup mixes, flours, seeds, sea salts, spices, and nuts. You won’t just find whole wheat flour here, you’ll also find chickpea flour and roti flour, along with a bunch of other types. They also carry fresh tahini, bee hive corn syrup, maple syrup and maple butter.
