Disappointing service and product. No Surprise, they are now CLOSED.

* Pulled pork café * This is an eclectically decorated café, with the usual café fare. On Monday, Wednesday, and Friday they have a «BBQ» pulled pork sandwich special. The pork was very tender, and was served on a store-bought roll that soaked up the juices and held up well. I don’t know that I would call it a BBQ sandwich though. There wasn’t even a hint of smoke. If they called it a stewed pork in BBQ sauce it would probably be more accurate. That said, for a stewed pork sandwich it was pretty good. It came with a side bag of chips, and some cornichon. Not likely I would go out of my way to return, but if in the area on the right day I may pop in again.

What a lovely experience and what delicious food! I ate every last bite of my pulled pork sandwich and dill pickle! Exactly what I wanted. And a little bag of potato chips?! How divine. They use tenderloin in their pulled pork, not the shoulder, making the meat very lean and juicy in all of it’s slow cooked glory. The staff were friendly and you can tell the food is prepared with love. This is a Ma and Pa shop I plan to support!!!

I am so happy there’s somewhere new to go to on Kingsway. I felt the exact opposite of the other review, granted I didn’t order any coffee. My friend and I had the hot daily specials. I had the pulled pork sandwich which was fantastic. My friend managed to score some of the vegetarian chili from the day before. We were both so happy. My friend’s vegan so it was nice to go somewhere that he could eat. We finished it off with this amazing chocolate brownie/bar. One thing I do agree on is that the owners are super cool. My food was reasonably priced and I had a great time talking to the owners. All in all cool place. Seriously though… the pulled pork sandwich=awesome!

*** The Owner wrote me to invite me back and to make things right, so I will go back to check it out. Really appreciate his kindness in contacting me. Very nice** I was really looking forward to the opening of this café today. I realize that there will probably be many tweaks as the owners get up and running, but for $ 16.52, my half cup o matcha, Tina’s half cup of latte, and two cheese toasts, we felt robbed(why they only filled the already small cup halfway, we don’t know). The owners are very cool, friendly, and are involved in burlesque and theatre in town– they seem like great people and I hope things go well for them. but I will be spending my money more wisely when I want a snack: p **Cool thing though– their menu is vegan friendly– they have almond milk and vegan cheese as options ;)
