The Outpost is a small store located on the main floor of the Student Union Building. It sells a wide variety of things, including UBC merchandise, greeting cards, and transit tickets and passes. I find that a lot of people don’t shop here, so the line tends to be pretty short. Also, the selection seems to be pretty great. I find the cashier’s are pretty friendly as well. The Outpost also has a Canada Post outlet located in the back of the store. It carries all of the envelopes and boxes you’d expect, and you can also grab Passport Canada forms. Unfortunately, there’s a long line here, probably because they’re the only post office in this area of UBC campus. Fortunately, there’s a loophole. If you only need stamps, you can buy them at the Outpost cashier at the front of the store. This saves you waiting in a long line, and is really efficient! I do this all the time when I have to mail things. Unfortunately, the Outpost doesn’t accept visa if you want to buy translink tickets or passes, so remember to bring cash or a debit card if you want to purchase those. Other than that snag, I enjoy shopping here when I’m in the Student Union Building. In terms of small campus stores, the Outpost is pretty great.
