This garden is a multicultural agriculture project. All food grown here is organic and all the crops go to the Food Bank. Harvests happen in the early morning and are brought to clients within hours after being picked. It’s a really special place — I love coming here to water their corn, kale, raspberries, quinoa, grape vines, apples… There are so many things to see in the garden — different beds are dedicated to certain areas — there are the Americas, Europe, Asian greens… A water garden(a pot with water-loving plants) is set up for birds, bees, and insects to drink from. If you live close by or have some free time, you can come and help dig around, harvest the crops and meet the people running this garden. They also host workshops for the community — local experts come to teach the workshops. It’s interesting how few of the plants we eat are actually grown around Canada! Their blog has the volunteering opp’s and workshops updated regularly. If you want to volunteer, contact Tricia. Volunteer orientations happen every month — after that, you can come and help according to your own schedule. Check their facebook for regular updates: Bonus: watch for the hairy kiwi plants tangled along the fence!
