I got the house special, it was pretty yummy! Saw what seemed like some regulars there, which is a good sign. Can’t go wrong for only $ 3.75.

Cheap, fast, delicious banh mi. They are all very good, so get whatever sounds good to you. My only complaint is that they do not offer Vietnamese ice coffee, but that won’t stop me from returning.

This is not going to be my lengthiest or most in depth review, simply another high rating to affirm what so many others have already stated: This place makes some of the best(in my experience the very best) banh mi in town. Sometimes when I’m reading Unilocal reviews looking for something, I’ll see one or two positive reviews and think to myself, «Well, some people seem to really like this place; maybe I should check it out.» This is contrasted by other times where I see a myriad of folks praising the virtues of a miscellaneous establishment over and over and over again, at which point I’ll think something along the lines of, «This many people can’t be wrong, I’m going there for sure!» In my opinion, Tung Hing definitely belongs in that latter category, thus my parroting all the other Unilocalers who dig this modestly appointed bakery as much as I have for the last decade. House Special, don’t skip the hot peppers. $ 3.75 reflects recent price increase, still super cheap. Enjoy!

I like Tung Hing. Its good, not everything. The banh mi is great but their baguettes are no as authentic as in the past. Its still a great sandwich for 3.75. you have no right to complain at that price. I bought the kids this coconut custard bun. Yuchh! the custard tasted of chemicals or maybe it was the coconut. Not good. They have a pastry covered in chopped hotdogs! The pâté chaud is really good. puff pastry and some fatty creamy pork goodness. I honestly crave these things when I, m hungover. Family owned, very nice 3.5 stars

Althought everything else … Well most is good at this bakery, this review is especially for their moon cakes. Do not buy durian moon cakes with 2 yolks. That’s what i got and it’s filled with coconut shreds. The pastry is dry and the yolks taste fishy and dry as if they’re old from last year! Good thing i only bought one to try and wasn’t cheap at $ 8.50! I have eaten bad ones but so far this is the worse! NONONO!!!

Best Vietnamese subs in van! My fav is the house special(I order mine with cha only instead of having all three types of meat in it) and the usual works. Their honey garlic or nem nuong sandwich is so good as well. Come when they open!

Small vietnamese bakery just across asupermarket where i always get my fresh meat and veggies. Busy place always line up because of their vietnamese sub. the place closes early aswell if im not mistaken it closest just after 6 pm Another place that is cash basis only, aside from the subs they ahave steam buns, specialty bread, cakes, desserts and cookies, bottled drinks aswell simple decorations, no wifi no public washroom, no tables and chairs just takeout counter. service is average, from the counter you can see the kitchen and smell this bread while they are baking them, pretty neat. all crew wearing gloves, the exciting part was you can see them preparing your sub, you can modified your sandwhich coz all ingredients are right before your eyes. i always go for everything including peppers. pricing is reasonable, desserts are awesome. the mocca roll with almonds are good with either [pop or tea or coffee… im a frequent to this bakery coz its near where i live and because all foods here are good… vietnamese sub the best…

One of my favorite places for banh mi. Baguettes smell so good and always fresh. I love how they give a generous spread of liver pâté(unlike most places) and give you all the fixings plus their subs are extra long. I’m never disappointed and it always tastes amazing. Did I mention their banh mi is not only delicious but cheaper than most generic mediocre restaurants with their pathetic overpriced bland banh mi. Azn pastries are also tasty. Even if it’s out of the way for me it’s totally worth it!

Lemongrass Chicken Banhmi was not bad. Tasted bit salty and didn’t come with sauce in the baguette. However the meat didn’t come shredded which is nice. Since chicken was already marinated, it wasn’t necessary to put sauce I guess. What I really liked was their egg tarts are big. Bigger than ones I ate from Maxim Bakery. As for Banhmi sandwich I really like Viet Sub better.

It’s okay. Le Phở on East Hastings has a grilled chicken and a grilled pork sandwich that is uh-mazing! That’s because it’s real grilled meat and not the spam crap most places use. Tung Hing may be a whole dollar cheaper but I’m not a fan of spam because it’s as questionable as ground beef. But also because Tung Hing is a bit of a drive for me and Le Phở is a hop skip away — bonus! I was watching the lady slap dash my sandwich together and I like to have each bite contain all the ingredients. The cucumber slice was on one half of the sub, she could have placed another slice on the other half. It tastes fine for $ 3.75. However, I will stick with Le Phở at a whole dollar more for the extra yumminess of real meat.

That sub was sub par. Read some of the reviews for this place and thought I take a track because I was craving a Vietnamese sub and they were quickand fast to make my sub but the sub was subpar. She asked me if I like it spicy with peppers. I get the sub and there’s no peppers and it’s not spicy. My sub and my drink and came to $ 5.40 I gave her seven letter keep the change for the speedy service and friendly smile. I’m still sad my sub wasn’t even warm. So overall I was disappointed with the sub from this place and I won’t be going back but I will be searching for another place that has yummy Vietnamese subs.

There are certain places where I get up early in the morning just to drive 20 minutes to get to. Tung Hing Bakery is one such place. In my humble opinion, they make the best Bahn Mi in Greater Vancouver. Because they bake their own bread, the sandwich is best at 8am, when they first open. The bread is crunchy on the outside and warm and soft in the inside. The toppings are viet cold cuts, a slice of bbq pork, pickled veggies, lots of butter, spread and special fish sauce, salt and pepper. This sandwich is perfect!

Their house special banh mi was decent but not my favorite. Their baguette is made in house and perfectly crusty but it lacked flavor — a bit too bland for my liking. They also make their BBQ pork in house and slices of it goes into their sandwich adding a bit of sweetness to the banh mi, but the final assembled sandwich just lacked something for me. Maybe it was their light-handedness with their pâté or bland bread but I much prefer Kim Saigon Sandwiches in Chinatown. But I would go back to order their pâté puffs(called pâté chaud). It’s their pâté wrapped in puff pastry and baked to golden perfection. Very good but very filling as anything with puff pastry means butter galore :)

This was my first time eating Banh Mi and i’m glad I followed Unilocal reviews because I can say that i will be a regular customer of this place for my duration in Vancouver. The best part is that I got a nice filling and tasty lunch for just $ 3.95 in a city like vancouver! the bread was just right(i’m very particular about my bread in subs) so i was very happy with it. At first I wasn’t too happy with the raddish in my sub because of the smell but the taste had been so awesomely hidden by the sauces that i didn’t realise i was eating any raddish. All in all, a great experience and i will definitely be frequenting this place more often!

Bread is soft on the inside and firm on the outside. I came in around 20 minutes to closing wanted the Lemongrass chicken but was sold out :(So I got the đc bit). I’ve heard and seen pictures of 9 – 10 inch subs but I didn’t maybe they ran out of the large baguettes? Smaller portion on the meats including the patte, but considering most sandwich shops are small around Vancouver(6 inch~ subs) they are not at all wrong. Tastes are all there of a good Bánh mì. If there was an option to double the meat I would, Or maybe I should ask next time :) I didn’t have time to sample the other baked pastries but they looked yummy, esp the durian bread one picture here on Unilocal. I’ll make this my auxiliary stop from B@le or A.P.Café

Well, I’ve been coming here pretty regular now(I’m the duke) haha! But anyways, I do like the fresh bread and the ingredients and pretty much what everyone else is saying about it. The only thing that irks me a bit is the service, they aren’t too friendly. $ 3.95! That’s all the lady says to me, no smile no thank you, nothing. Like I said I do like the sandwiches but I also like friendly service. We’ll see if I’m still the duke in the future…

Definitely the most delicious and authentic Vietnamese subs in the city. Nothing fancy about this joint but the lineups are a testament to how amazing this place is. Don’t fret, the ladies who put the sandwiches together are quick so you will not have to wait long to get your hands on the FRESH baguettes they use. If you can, try to eat your sandwich right away, when the bread is nice & warm and the pâté is slowly coating the deli meats — YUM! If you wait too long, the sub will go a little bit soggy from the tasty sauce and toppings. If you shy away from spicy, remember to let the ladies know«No jalepeno peppers». Lastly, don’t forget to bring cash with you. It is their only form of payment. But not to worry, since you get free parking around the place, you can use that spare change to buy the sub — less than $ 4!

I’m willing to wait… Do you ever go somewhere, see a line up out the door and head someplace else? Wait. Seriously… stand there and play a movie in your mind and wait. The line up moves pretty fast despite the fact everyone is ordering at least two or three samiches. The first time I came here, I only got one sandwich. By the time I took my first bite, I knew that I should have gotten two. The next time, my friend and I shared four… and the time after that, I got two for myself, but it was too much. So, the ladies making the sandwiches… their hands are flying as they pump out the multiple sandwiches per customer. While it looks like«slap slap slap done,» everything inside is so good. Each time I have ordered a house special. It’s a classic. If it’s your first time, order that… I don’t really know what’s in it, but the combination works. I opted for not spicy. The huge jalapeño pepper slices looked a little scary. My favourite is the sausage. That’s like a mash of meat shaped into a large pan and cut into slabs and shoved in the sandwich. The meatball isn’t what I thought meatball should be… It’s not an Italian meatball… round and made of ground meat. I think this is thinly sliced meatballs you use in hot pot. Not my fave. Same with the lemongrass chicken. To me, it had a curry sauce flavour to it. Meh. The amount of pâté an butter mixing together and oozing out as I squish my sandwich in my mouth is sufficient. Anymore and I would probably put it down to go for a run around the block. Ahahaa… who am I kidding? I just think it would be too much and take away from the yummy sausage. They also have other baked good there, but I’m not sure if anyone buys them. It seems like the main draw are these sandwiches… Less than $ 4… works for me…

LOVELOVELOVE this place! One of my favorite things to eat — ever — are vietnamese sandwiches, so I had to try this place when my friend recommended it to me! It’s huge(about 10 inches long) and the french bread is baked on-site and tastes super fresh. I feel pretty strongly about how the secret to a good banh mi is in the bread. And the best part — it was only $ 3.50! If I lived closer I’d probably be here everyday, not gona lie.
