Although, this is a food court but I have to say food is prepared and cooked deliciously. Recently ordered the spicy bbq pork with rice. Meat has been marinated and is super tender! It comes with a soup too! All for less than $ 10. Super value! Will return again!

Food is really good for mall food. It is a good option for lunch for sure. They are fast. The main dish comes with a mini broth and Kimchi on the side which is really nice for the price.

I have been to much better Korean restaurants in the past. Many back home in California, and a bunch on a past trip to Korea. This was my 3rd one since moving to Vancouver, and by far the worst. The staff was not friendly, did not come back to check on us or refill tea or water, and the food was subpar. Got tofu soup that was lacking in everything, from flavor to ingredients, seafood pancake that was a gooey mess, too thick with gooey batter inside, and bossam that was lacking flavor and the different greens I automatically expected it to come with. I think I could’ve gotten better Korean food at the H mart across the parking lot. I will probably never go back here.

I always come here for their #3. Spicy beef broth(Noodles)!! And nothing else. Flavor is really good and I like their kimchi! Price is pretty good too! However, compared to before, they’re starting to skimp out on their kimchi portion and the amount of beef found in the noodles. Mind you… I’ll still come here for their beef broth… however, value wise… it’s starting to lose its appeal.

First things first: this is a food court, people… you should really come expecting and comparing against food court dining. Wang Ga Ma does food consistently at pretty reasonable cost and quality. It is by no means comparable to dining at a restaurant(there are no side dishes, tea is not going to be fresh, etc.), but it’s not awful like re-heated food. Portions are sizeable so it’s filling if you’re very hungry or eating on a budget to get full. I’ve enjoyed most of the foods I’ve had at Wang Ga Ma, but most likely because of having the right attitude and people. Afterthought :Vancouver does not do Korean food well(compared to most of our neighbours in WA, OR, CA) so also judge based on reasonable comparables: P

They should really do a better job or just get out of the food business. I mean seriously, if they made some effort to make things even a bit better or consistent, their business would be doing so much better. The only reason they r still in business is because there’s no Korean restaurant around this area. I only go when I’m absolutely desperate for Korean food but even so, they never fail to disappoint me. So sad. I am Korean and I know Korean food. They are Korean people cooking Korean food. This shouldn’t be happening. This is by far the worst Korean food you will get in Vancouver. And the Koran food restaurant standard in Vancouver is pretty low to begin with. 1. Yook Gae Jang. Hardly anything in it– only bean sprouts and a few strings of meat. Soup tastes like MSG. Bad. 2. Spicy tofu soup. Do not get it. Does not taste like tofu soup at all. It actually tasted very funky. 3. Kimchee stew. Same thing. Tastes bad and disappointing. 4. Sul rong tang. Last time I ordered a take out, there was only half in the container. I was utterly shocked. H– mart should really evaluate this establishment inside their store and do something about it. What a shame.

Don’t go here! Avoid at all costs! They barely give you any food at all. We ordered the bulgogi and it was so small, like half a scoop. We also ordered the galbi tang and it came out with two pathetic small, tough pieces of meat on the bone. Old and probably frozen. Galbi tang meat is supposed to be soft and tender(and plentiful)! The banchan(side dishes) are non-existent. Usually Korean restaurants give plenty of side dishes to go with the main. But not here, they are cheap and stingy. Other reviewers have complained about the same thing. You can also tell that they are stingy with the napkins too! They only put out 5 at a time on a dish in front of the register. So ridiculous. For the price it’s not worth it! Also the employee taking orders has such a condescending attitude. They treat you like you are serving them, not the other way around. Avoid at all costs, you will leave unsatisfied.

Two things I wondered with every bite: #1 Are all the good reviews written by family members and friends of the owner? #2 whoever made the food, is that person’s primary and only interest to make food using bare minimum ingredients within the lowest budget possible? Sullungtang: we were genuinely questioning if they took the instant pouch sold in the market and microwaved it. The only reason we ruled that out was because we actually got less meat and noodle than what would be included in the instant soup package. That is sad:( Soy Bean Paste Stew: stew was so watery. it also had an instant soup base taste to it. Oh man… how does this happen? I can do food court style Korean food any day because there is a code of decency. However, i was in utter disbelief. I couldn’t get over how it could be possible for them to prepare the simplest dishes in such a poor manner. It’s quite easy to make decent soybean paste stew. I would even say, it would be difficult to try to screw it up. One thing for sure, this wasn’t a matter of skill. The question isn’t whether the cook is a good cook or not. The only reason for this misfortune is because they are not in the business to make a decent meal. All focus is weighed on business… dollars and cents. I hope no foreigners try food from here because I feel embarrassed for this place. They do not represent Korean food. I genuinely hope the people that are running this place would take some time to reflect and remember why anyone would be in the restaurant business. Maybe even take a nice vacation. Things can change drastically if they just took the time to reflect. Food is meant to nourish people. It can go over and beyond but it can also be very basic. It doesn’t have to be fancy. It doesn’t have to be the best. It can be simple yet decent and people will appreciate it. Why does one cook for another? Why does one start and run a restaurant? That would be the million dollar question.

I don’t come here often but tried Jjampong(spicy noodle) last time which was amazing. And this time my sister and I ordered spicy noodle and black bean noodle. We were both excited to get our noodles. Everything was good except the noodle was thinner than last time. Maybe chef has changed? Anyways it was great deal with good portion. Black bean noodle is bit smaller than spicy noodle, but quite satisfied with price and portion though. As for spicy noodle it has right amount of spiciness and felt like drinking the soup ’till it’s empty. The portion is quite big too. It’d also taste amazing with rice inside yum. I’m always willing to go back and avoid busy hours hopefully. H mart food court gets packed around 12pm fyi.

I usually order the Jajangmyun or the Jolmyun. Most of the time, the food is tasty. Sometimes it lacks sauce, but you can ask for more. There was a couple of times when the Jajangmyun was soupy, or had chilli flakes in it(What happened??). Other than those strange incidents, this place is a favorite.

My go to place for jajangmeun! Have yet to try some if their other options but whenever I’m stuck downtown and need food, this is the place I run to. Little bit in the oily side but deliciously large portions for under $ 6. Would recommend to any jajangmeun fans out there.

The Bi Bim Bap was served in a stone bowl, which is amazing for a food court type of place. And it was surprisingly good. Excellent flavors, crunchy rice and overall, a very satisfying meal. Definitely a good place to go for a fast, cheap and tasty dinner.

I joined Diana and Kimberly for lunch at H-Mart on Robson during our lunch breaks. H-Mart actually has several food options with most of them being a Korean and Japanese. I opted for Wang Ga Ma, since it was a cold day and soup was in order. I initially wanted to go for the beef rib soup, but alas they were sold out. Instead I opted for the #3 spicy beef broth($ 8) with the noodles. Although it was quite tasty with a good amount of spiciness and beef taste, there was actually quite a bit of MSG in it, and I felt quite thirsty after. I opted for the soup with noodles rather than rice on the side. The noodles were reminiscent of the white rice noodles in phở, which I enjoy. There were a lot of noodles, and it was a filling meal. On another occasion, one again, the beef rib soup sold out, so I had the beef soup($ 7) — this time with rice on the side. I was a bit disappointed when I got my meal since it arrived quite promptly. Somehow I feel like this is a bad sign since it means it was ready even before I ordered, but I guess that is often the case with soup. The beef inside was alright; kind of chewy and not too tender. I did like the soup itself though since it was quite well flavoured. It also came with vermicelli, which I enjoyed. All in all, Wang Ga Ma in H-Mart is decent for quick and cheap eats in downtown.

fast friendly service. food freshly prepared(hot!!). big portions. if you want something simple on your lunch break, this is your place to go. i love their spicy tofu soup. their spicy noodles in soup is HUGE. a bit pricer than the korean restaurants i’m used to frequenting, but not bad for a quick bite. only accepts cash or debit. the restaurant is found inside H Mart and has a cafeteria-style seating area.

— Beef broth(#1) is bland, and their beef is dry — seafood pancake is really good though! sharing for two people is recommended — dolsot bibimbap(mixed rice in stone bowl) is also not a let-down Haven’t tried the other ones yet, but for what I have tried, this is a pretty decent place in downtown for students on a budget to get meals for students on a budget, especially since it is walking distance from the public library. I usually find that their portions are more than enough for one person. There is self-served napkins in front of the cashier, and cold water right across from it against the wall.

Needing a real quick fix before the start of our show, my partner and I decided to try out the H-Mart(Korean) food court which was located on the second floor. In need of something cheap and filling we decided on the Bee Bim Bop. I did not know that ‘Wang Ga Ma’ had another outlet here, and was scared when we made the order it would not be served in the traditional stone bowl that it usually is served to at a restaurant. We waited a bit as they did prepare this thing, and it is not the quickest in here, but the tray display/combination of food provided to us was nice. A small serving of kimchi, soup on the side, and the main dish, served in the ‘stone bowl’! One thing I must say is that the serving was a little smaller than the restaurant, that is what I find, and they already have put the amount of spicy bean sauce in the dish, all you have to do is mash the freshly ‘sunny’ egg, and mix away to your desire! It did taste pretty good, even though some may want more, or less of this sauce when they eat, so you really do not get any control of the matter. It is not the cheapest food court style food you will get, but if your in for some authentic Korean dishes, and not wanting to pay tip, sit in a restaurant, need it fast, get up and go, you may as well come down here if your in downtown. Hopefully you know what your ordering too, as there is not much description of the items on the board, except their English translated names from Korean of the dish, and the girl that was working at the till could not really answer our questions fully.

While this is not the best Korean food in the city, it’s decent for a quick lunch. This is Asian style fast food/food court cuisine, so it’s nothing fancy in terms of seating and space. There are a few other places to choose some that might tickle your fancy and you can conveniently shop at H-Mart after you’re done eating.

Came here to try some new food. This is upstairs, on the same level as H-Mart. I had no idea there was a mini food court here. In other words, the seating area is communal. The Korean girl sitting at the counter was nice, but you could tell she was bored. I tried the BBQ pork dish. It was quite bland. So was the soup(it looked like the MSG-infused variety) you’d normally see at Vietnamese places. Maybe they ran out of MSG today. This may not be a bad thing. But I’ve never been to Korea, so what do I know. Maybe it’s authentic. The side of kimchi tasted funny. It tasted like someone had mixed in some Vietnamese fish sauce. But my friend(another Unilocal Elite) had a taste, and told me it was fine. Maybe I’m just delusional. Looks like there’s no clean-up crew here either. The tables had stickers asking that the finished trays be returned. When I brought it back, the same bored girl at the counter pointed to me to empty my plates and cups into a set of bins, just like a cafeteria. It was a bit surprising, but just a heads up. There are a couple of other booths at the food court showing really cute pictures of food, so I will be sure to sample the others in the near future. Or maybe some of you Unilocalers can do so on my behalf.
