I’ve had this place book marked since August. It took me a while to get here cause I am rarely in the area. The funny thing is that I kept thinking that this was an arcade every time I’ve walked by. They do have 3 pin ball machines on loan from East Van Amusement, therefore, it changes often. I am sad that the teenage mutant ninja turtles machine that I’ve heard other Unilocalers mention wasn’t there anymore. I did play a few rounds of the Elvis pin ball. The place is very small. It is more of a bar than a hot dog joint. There are some epic hot dog selections but not enough selections to qualify them as an exclusive hot dog joint. I was informed that they’re expanding their menu to burgers. Super friendly and chill staff.

I don’t even need to try the food, the service is so good! I had the Hastings lemonade, it was delicious. I’ve eaten here before and it was really good but the incredibly helpful and accommodating service is why I’ll come back. She was the bomb! Thanks guys!

I really love this place. It’s cool all around. They have a lot of unique options as well. Sometimes it get’s too busy to stay and eat, but you cannot blame anyone for that. Also, if you have a small appetite sharing is the better way to go as the hot dogs are huge. I haven’t been able to finish a whole one yet.

This is exactly what Vancouver needed! Love this place from the diner style atmosphere to the creative twist hot dogs. I had a spicy dog with all the hot peppers and sauerkraut that was delicious, but next time I will go with the Reuben that my friend had. Our table highlight was the chips that we almost didn’t order, they are SO good! Price may seem high but the three rivers meat used for the hot dogs is the best quality dog I’ve had.

One of the best hot dogs I’ve ever had. I saw the photo of their A REUBENBAHAMACOMEONPRETTYMAMA, and I just had to have it. It did not disappoint. The trick is to not eat it all in one bite.

What’s up? Hot dog! No matter which word you emphasize or the inflection you choose, any combination is hilarious. The name is worth a star in my books. Is that weird? Shut up. Adorable retro feel, but with retro comes a lack of air conditioning… and in this heat wave, it makes a pretty uncomfortable dining experience. More fans! More fans! Apparently the liquor license is still in the works, because, beers. They boast locally sourced meat and all that jazz, which is rad, sure… and could make the price point logical. But on the veggie dog front… seeing the chef pull out a box of frozen Yves dogs… I cringe a bit knowing I am paying $ 9. I know it’s rough with Field Roast out of the picture buuuuut maybe another avenue would be very much appreciated. Homemade? Yes please! That being said, I went Wrigley, the bf went Hanzai — both veggie. And they were pretty tasty… just not $ 9 tasty. The waffle fries on the other hand? Yes. Please. Pretty large portion for the price and definitely enough to satisfy two people. We arrived just before a local band was about to take the«stage». And by stage I mean an awkward spot in the front window. I am all for supporting music and local talent and rocking the eff out… but this place is small. And hot. And with big ass speakers blasting music… you would be sure to be a deaf melted puddle on the floor. And that’s not just the Grandma in me talking, that’s just Science. Make a note. Ahem, they have video games. And one may or may not be TMNT. Heroes in a half shell. Turtle Power.

(Short version) Seems expensive but its totally worth it. Kid friendly and vegetarian options. When I first heard about this place I thought it was just too silly. Also $ 8 seems like a lot for a hot dog, but I tried it today and I’ve really come around. Firstly the hot dogs are delicious. If you made them at home it would be the 45 minute hot dog. While one isn’t a completely filling meal, two certainly would be and 16 bucks for a meal is pretty reasonable. I dig the décor. Staff was friendly. All around good experience. I had the spicy Mexican dog and it was delicious. My wife had the Hanzai, the Japanese dog, which. Took a bite of and thought it was also very good. My son had the Mac and cheese dog, which was not my thing, but he seemed to thoroughly enjoy it. We also had the waffle fries which really seem to have solved they fry/surface area equation, as in yum. Good to see some old video games. Reminded me of my childhood. I can’t remember the last time I played Galaga on a stand arcade machine. Can’t wait until they get beer. That’ll really complete the picture. Also, would have preferred that there want a baseball game on a projector, but I get it. Hot dogs and sports.

Had the Japanese dog. It is similar to a Japadog. What I like is these guys use locally sourced meat. The guy told me their meat is from Two Rivers which I buy from Choices Market so that is a plus. Looking forward to hamburgers on their menu. Hopefully, milkshake made with locally made ice cream is coming soon. However, service can be a bit more friendlier. Not that they are inattentive or anything, but trying to get a conversation or a smile from the server(owner?) is not easy. So my friend and I made a bet to see which one of us can do this. I’m not a tattooed, pierced young patron nor is my friend a lumberjack bearded plastic framed eyeglass wearer but it feels like we are insignificant amongst the staff who do not acknowledge the paying customers like us. Sometimes I feel like I’m at Red Wagon except Red Wagon is busier. I really want these guys to do well so if you’re reading this please be more social and welcoming. Just a little extra lovin’ please.

Super yummy dawgs! Great atmosphere. Nice staff. Great selection of arcade games. Rampage. Yes! Turtles pinball. Double yes! The waffle fries are yummy and the vinegar is already on the table, as it should be. Only cons are that I’d love move side options and they need their liquor licence real bad. I don’t always love paying 8 – 10 dollars for a hot dog, but I think the unique combos, nice quality beef and great atmosphere make up for it. A patio out back, like a few other businesses on the street have done, would be icing on the cake.

Giving What’s Up? Hot Dog 3 stars, 2.5 for food and .5 for overall atmosphere. Also, realizing that they’re newly opened and still working out kinks. So, the fam and I went there for dinner on a nice weekend evening. No problem getting a seat. Nice that they kept the diner style with a few updates. And they’ve added a pinball and a couple of old-school videogames. They also have a jukebox with good music so all good there. The food however was a bit meh. I had their Japanese-style hotdog hoping for something akin to Japadog but no luck. This hotdog didn’t have much taste despite being heavily sauced. The most distinctive taste was ginger, there was lots of ginger. Didn’t help that the hotdog itself was less than hot, sort of lukewarm. It was supposed to come with tempura flakes that i never saw or tasted… We also got an order of waffle fries that were a bit soggy/greasy. So, overall I like the space but not so sure about the food… Sorry.

Been looking forward to this spot opening ever since their bright yellow sign appeared! Stopped in during their first week and had a vegan version of one of their hot dogs — it’s awesome that this is an option for many of the items on their menu. The hot dog I picked had creative topping choices(ginger, tempura, wasabi) and was pretty tasty. However, the price point is kind of a dealbreaker. The cheapest hot dogs are currently $ 8.50(plus tax), which is going to rule this out as a casual snack stop for many in the neighborhood. For the price, I definitely would have expected a higher-quality bun and vegan dog. To be more all-inclusive, it might be cool if there were simpler items on the menu at a lower price. Otherwise, it’s a welcoming place — the renovations of the old Master Chef space look great, the music is well-selected, and the waitstaff is friendly.

Came here for lunch and got the Mac and cheese dog, was super yummy. Got the Pulled pork one to go for the hubby. Was chit chatting with the very nice blue haired woman about how they came up with the name… she gave great service. Place has a cool vibe, like 50’s diner style, with some old school video arcade games. And they were playing baseball on the big screen if theres any baseball lovers out there. No booze yet but it’s coming. They have a trivia night as well. If you go this Saturday it’s their grand opening for the community.

What can I say? It is a hot dog place! Big dogs piled high with a variety of fixins for under $ 10. Sides include wings and waffle fries. I got the Matt and She’s Dog(mac and cheese). Delicious!
