I was so tempted to give Dr. Barry Yip a 1 star, but really it wasn’t all his fault. He is a decent dentist but is unfamiliar with the new porcelain fillings. I had gone to Dr. Barry Yip since I was a child and never was asked and had always received silver fillings. However, it was his Dental Assistant whom really is the 1 star. Her name is Theresa and she is not very friendly at all. For over 17 years, I have gone to Dr. Barry Yip. He was the only dentist that I knew. When I was about 17 – 18(I am in my 20’s now), I wanted to finally get braces. In the past I have had retainers. I had discovered invisiligns and wanted to get them. I wasn’t thinking of switching dentists, just wanted to go to a different centre because they specialized in invisiligns and Dr. Barry Yip did not have that service. Upon my initial consultation with the new dentist, she had let me know that many of my silver fillings from when I was a child are beginning to crack due to wear and tear and that eventually I would need to get them replaced. After that consultation I wanted to make a call into Dr. Barry Yip to discuss the invisilign option and if I needed replacement for prior fillings if I can do porcelain. When I called, Theresa had answered the phone. I asked to speak to Dr. Barry Yip and she wouldn’t allow it and said«I can answer your questions». I proceeded to ask her about invisiligns and that I wasn’t planning on switching dentists but wanted to look into the options of getting these braces. My teeth were fairly straight to begin with, but they could’ve been pushed together a little more. I also asked her about my fillings and if I could set up an appointment to see if I actually need to get them replaced and whether or not I can look into porcelain. I guess she got offended(about what? I don’t know) and proceeded to tell me that«I don’t need to answer your questions, I am off the clock.» and HUNGUPONME. Excuse me??? My family, my brother, myself have been a patient of your practice for how many years??? I may still be perceived«young» to you at that time, but no one deserves to be treated that way. The next following days I tried calling back. And every time she picked up the phone I got hung up on. Once she answered the phone and I asked to speak with Dr. Barry Yip immediately so I can get my files transferred, and again was hung up on. Finally one day she wasn’t working and I was able to speak with the other Dental Assistant(whom is extremely nice) and she had relayed my information on to Dr. Barry Yip. Within a few hours, he called me back. And we arranged to get my files transferred. I just cannot believe over simple questions that Theresa should know the answers to, she decided to get so flustered and hang up on a patient that has been with the practice for over 17 years. I don’t know if Dr. Barry Yip has taken my advice and not allow someone of that«professional level» represent his business. But if she is still with him, I would recommend you find another clinic to go to.
