A second home. as I walk into the joint I greet the owner/clerk/manager«Hello sir, I’ll have my usual». He already knows. «Mapo Tofu». That is of course after months. which became 2 years. This wonderful place that is on Steeles and Yonge is the old fashioned restaurant creating such magical dishes of Asian cuisine at its finest. This place is the go– to small restaurant to have my Chinese food and other Asian delights. The staff is friendly, nice and curteous and the wait time does not take too long. From your regular Chinese food dishes: Sweet and Sour chicken or pork, Chicken Balls, General Tso Chicken, Chow Mein, Chop Suey, to also dishes that others might. not be to others taste. as in Pan Fried Pork Dumplings, Mandarin Pork Chops, Young Chow Fried Rice to name a few. There’s also some Thai cuisine as well. *I recommend the Thai Yellow Curry* The best *Mapo Tofu* is actually from this joint, I highly recommend you trying it to know why it is my «usual) (It’s not for everyone but it is a unique spicy hot savory dish) This place has a variety of delicious dishes to savour and taste, meat and vegetarian ;with a decent price for each dish. What sets this apart from other places, is that everything is fresh and really well made. The staff take their time to create such quality and quantity in their dishes, especially that there is so much food they provide in each dish, and that is why I became a regular here. The small restaurant even has a place to sit down to eat, and a washroom to use, so it’s not just take out,(even though I mostly do take out). So if you are looking for a nice place to enjoy true authentic Chinese cuisine at a reasonable price? Look no further and try as many beautiful and delicious dishes as you can(I still haven’t even tried the other dishes). A nice selection of drinks as well.(No alcohol or other fancy drinks.) No dessert sold here though, which I hope they will provide in the future, it would make this place even better. Still a great place to enjoy such Chinese food and Thai food as well. If you don’t want to visit, they also have delivery. So I hope you come to this joint and see the magic of such dishes, so you too, will probably call one of these dishes«your usual».

Ordered for the first time. Delivery time is good. But food quality is the FAR opposite from it. I had dinner for 2 and general tso chicken. Every single foods that I tasted seems like reheated and not fresh. General Tso is especially TOUGH to bite. and every single menus I had r OVERCOOKED&DRY. Fried rice is very bland as well. I ended up cooking my own food. Thanks for ruining my dinner by delivering a terrible quality foods!!! I wont be ordering from here anymore!!!

This place is great :-) exactly what I was craving lol. I ordered delivery and it took less than 50 minutes to arrive fresh and hot at my door. I got general Tao chicken, crispy ginger beef, Shanghai noodles, and the plain chicken wings. The wings were AMAZING and there was like a dozen for one order which I was impressed with considering the price. Both proteins were generous portions crispy fresh and full of flavor I’m drooling thinking about it lol. Definitely recommend if your craving fresh Chinese food delivered fast to your door. *** best general chicken I have had since being in Markham!

Living near Yonge and Steeles it was hard to find a Chinese food place that wasn’t «authentic». General Tso’s Kitchen is just what we’re looking for. A typical Canadian/American Chinese food place with fried meat in a tasty sauce. Excellent staff. Excellent service. And excellent quality and quantity for the cost. Fave foods: General’s Chicken, orange chicken, crispy ginger beef in szechwan, jar-do wings, and the chicken in the chicken balls is great. Unique trait: their paper take out bags say«Chinese Food» on them written in English. They knew this was the place my family would love.

Very disappointing food. I wasn’t expecting Chinese food to be a culinary delight, but everything we ordered tasted very bland and not anywhere hear fresh. It took no more than 15 – 20 minutes for the food to get to our door after the restaurant called to confirm the order — and the restaurant is at about 10 minutes away. I don’t think a single thing in the order had been freshly cooked. The beef friend rice tasted bland and like it had been reheated. The honey garlic ribs were so dry that they looked and tasted porous. Their eggplant dish must have been covered in maple syrup — I’ve had Chinese eggplant from a variety of restaurants, but this is the first time I couldn’t eat it. It was so, so sweet from whatever sauce they put on it! We also had beef and snow peas which was probably the least offensive, and merely tasteless. The cashew chicken was about the same. If we’d put them both on the same plate and tasted blindly, we probably couldn’t have distinguished the meals. Yeah, that bad. Again, not expecting incredible food, but I also didn’t want to spend my money on an old, reheated meal that was likely awful when it was fresh. Will not be ordering again.

If you’re looking for your feel-good Chinese takeout/delivery(both in your tummy, mind, and wallet), General Tso’s is the place to go. The staff are incredibly friendly, both over the phone and in person, and the menu selection and prices and discounts can’t be beat. I can’t believe it took me this long to finally order from them but now that I have I’ll definitely be a repeat customer.

This place is a very solid Canadian-Chinese take out and delivery joint with good food and great prices. Note that this is Canadian-Chinese food — i love Omei’s Lobster, Congee Queen’s turnip patties, or Emperor’s peking duck as much as anyone, but this isnt that place, its where you go for dinner-for-4 deals, for old-school egg rolls, sweet and sour chicken balls, bean sprout chicken chow mein, fried rice, etc. Lots of dishes are very good, the prices are low, and delivery is quick. They do exactly what you’d expect from a Canadian-ized Chinese delivery joint, and they do it very well. Solid dishes: egg rolls, sweet and sour chicken balls, deep fried shrimp, spicy eggplant, chicken wings, and their fried rice is simple excellence. BUT they’re not so skilled at noodle dishes, with Cantonese chow mein and Pad Thai both only«OK» and the others not good. Quick delivery, the friendly gent on the phone, and reasonable prices when compared to local competitors like Cynthia’s, this is my go-to for the nostalgic Canadian Chinese delivery of my youth.
