Jessica is so talented and it shows in her creations– her sweet sushi is amazing. Highly recommended for parties or just because. Delicious snacks!

I have ordered a few things from Jessica. The first time was a 75 piece platter for a work baby shower. It was fantastic and the preggo mother was raving about the sushi she could finally eat! The second time was for my hubby’s 30th party. We got flavored popcorn, sushi tray, cake pops, chocolate dipped pretzels which were all amazing. I would most definitely get sweet sushi again and even all the other side stuff. Sooooo good!

I have ordered sweet sushi a bunch of times in the last few years. It is always amazing, fresh and really impresses my guests. I also ordered golf ball truffles for fathers day — they were delicious and again my family thought they were such a great idea! I love sweet sushi — it is rice krispies with candy and I could honestly eat the entire tray myself. Jessica has always been a pleasure to deal with and very professional. I will definitely continue to order from her.

I ordered a 60 piece sweet sushi platter for my son’s birthday party. It looked exactly as it did on her website. It was delicious ! A real hit with the kids and the adults trying to elbow there way in to grab a piece. Would definitely order again. Highly recommend.

Got an online deal for this business. Ordering was fairly painless since all of the lovely pix & details in their website help narrow choices & Jessica is friendly:-) What a neat idea! We took our order of sweet sushi & cake balls to a gathering with friends. Both adults & kids loved them! My fave were the chocolate swirled«rolls» in the box. The others had fruity bits(twizzlers, fruit roll) & colored sugar. All tasted great! The wasabi frosting, chocolate soy dip & white chocolate ginger were such cute additions to make it more like the real thing! We gave the card we got with our order to some friends & they said they were interested in ordering too. I found the cake balls a bit less cake-like than I prefer(was a bit too moist & mushy) or I guess than I’m used to with other cakeballs/pops. Probably wouldn’t reorder those but they tasted fine & didn’t go to waste! We even had a few leftovers of the fruity kind of rolls &DH took them to work. Coworkers loved the idea & the treats:-) Only thing that was a bit offputting was that DH almost got lost trying to get to the House to pick up the order & the person there didnt have any change to give him(???) It was recent so not sure what happened to the storefront mentioned by other reviewer(or their banking machines)… All in all, would recommend & eat again for sure:-)

First off, I have to say that both of the two previous reviewers who rated Sweet Sushi prior to me must have been smoking a bit too much crack. One praises the place and its creations – rightly so – but then gives it a two star rating! Strange. The other finds the right balance between review content and star-ranking, but then adds that the food is «really, really fattening» and not good for those with diabetes or on a diet. Please. Thankfully, Jessica herself straightened out«Bold C.» on that count: Sweet Sushi is obviously LOW in fat. I ate nearly one-third of a 50-piece tray MYSELF in a single car ride and I’m still here to tell the tale. But more on that later. As Jessica also noted in her response to the other reviewer, she is no longer a home-based company, and in fact has a commercial location, based inside Planet Bakery in the Honey Grove Plaza at 1416 Centre Street in Thornhill. It appears she rents space from them for the time being and appears to only work from pre-orders at the moment(don’t quote me on that). I had to drive from my office near Woodbine and 7 to pick up my order mid-afternoon on a weekday and made it there and back in no time. Easy in, easy out. I ordered a 50-piece tray for an office function, using a group-buy voucher I purchased last year, but after sneaking a piece during the drive back, and then sneaking about FIFTEENMORE, I decided I really didn’t like my coworkers THAT much, and picked up some chips and dip for them instead. The sushi was diverted to me and my girlfriend. Jessica herself – who appeared to be hard at work the day I picked up my order(I’m guessing she’s her own staff for the time being) – told me the treats would last around three weeks in the Japanese-style takeout tray they come neatly packaged in, but added that she hoped I wouldn’t need to keep them that long. Man, she was right: nearly a third of them were gone ten minutes after I left the shop, and as I write this less than 24 hours later, we’re down to less than six pieces. It’s that good. Sweet Sushi is essentially akin to Rice Krispies treats, only rolled like sushi and augmented with candy for effect. Some pieces have a sort of thin, rainbow coloured fruit-wrap subbing for the seaweed wrap you’d find on regular sushi. Other pieces have less of the fruit wrap but are rolled in brightly coloured sugar crystals that emulate the look of the orange fish roe/tobiko traditionally found on sushi, only here it’s pink, yellow and purple, as well as orange. Each piece has a little nugget of red licorice at its core, and the very concept of candy sushi suggests that other sweet bits ‘n pieces could be added in the future(maybe even *should* be, just in case anyone else tries to horn in on the market) to mimic the look of just about any kind of authentic sushi you could imagine. In addition to the«rainbow» and«glitter» rolls, the tray also includes several pieces of «Cocoa Maki», which is likewise a combo of rice crisps and marshmallow, rolled into a tube, then either rolled or painted with chocolate, sliced into sushi-size pieces, then drizzled with milk and white chocolate. The tray also came with three pieces of Nigiri-style sushi, which consist of a finger-sized portion of rice-crisps & marshmallow topped with a layer of coloured chocolate, and tied together with a thin strip of the fruit wrap. Finally, three little cups of garnish are included for dipping: chocolate syrup(playing soy sauce), green frosting(playing wasabi) and orange chocolate shavings(subbing for gari/pickled ginger). Since I’m hardly a seasoned food writer, these descriptions probably don’t do justice to the effort that clearly goes into this stuff. Thankfully, the company’s website is loaded with pictures. Two more things to note: first, I love Rice Krispies squares, but almost never eat them because they’re invariably too big and too hard, and I don’t want to risk broken fillings or lost teeth trying to tear one apart. When I was a kid, fine, but not now. Why someone didn’t invent a bite-sized variant before now is beyond me, but Sweet Sushi found a clever way to make it even better. Second, based on my rough guestimate of pieces eaten vs. pieces advertised, I’m fairly certain that my 50-piece tray actually contained MORE than 50 pieces. I’m not saying you should expect it, just that I think it happened on my order, and that it’s pretty cool if I’m right. Finally, to the owner: branded chopstick sleeves. I’m just sayin’. .. ;-) Anyways, the food is delicious – bordering on addictive – and its unique concept holds a LOT of potential for growth should the owner ever move to her own storefront location and/or corner the corporate event market(not to mention the grab ‘n go market). As I mentioned, the tray I purchased was intended for a casual corporate function even if it never ended up there. Maybe next time, as long as they don’t send me to pick it up. ..

2−½ stars(Cake Balls Review Only!) The phrase«Let them eat cake» is most often associated with Marie Antoinette although there is no historical record that she actually uttered them. She’s often viewed as a royal who only cared about indulging and lavishing in the finest, and I’m sure back in the day a gâteau was a delicacy indeed! Cakes have become as symbolic of birthdays as Santa Claus is with Christmas. But for me, no matter what occasion — cake is always welcome! But for me, the culinary adventurer — I thought I would jazz it up a bit for my mom’s birthday. I had had a voucher to Sweet Sushi by Jessica for $ 40 worth of cake balls($ 2 each for a total of 20 cake balls). Jessica is a graduate from George Brown’s culinary program and started her business with a passion for sweets and a flair for creativity. Her signature products are in the name — sushi made of Rice Krispies and wrapped in candy. She operates out of her home in Thornhill, which is where you will go to retrieve your order. Orders must be placed at a minimum of 24 hours in advance. The ordering and pickup process went flawlessly, and Jessica is a really down to Earth kinda gal! I had an assortment of cake balls including the following flavours: Red Velvet Carrot Cake Pina Colada Chocolate Mint Brownie Glitter Verdict: These cake balls are definitely unique and visually appealing. The cake part of the cake balls were quite moist. The outer shells, made of chocolate however, made it hard to cut them in half. I found them all to be extremely rich; the richness coming from the chocolate coating. I also found them to be too sweet for my palette. Make sure you have a glass of coffee, milk or tea nearby! My favourite flavour bar none was the Carrot Cake as it was the least sweet of all the cake balls I sampled. With that said, if you can tolerate a richer and sweeter dessert — I think that you should definitely give Jessica a call. Despite it being too sweet for me, I would still call Jessica again as her masterpieces are sure to be the talk of any party and sure to please the dessert crowd!
