I decided to give this place a try for a facial since it had good reviewed here on Unilocal.I’m no facial expert but I’ve had enough in my life to know the process. Honestly, I would not waste your money here, spend the extra $ 20-$ 30 elsewhere and have a proper experience. First off, this esthetician is located in the back rooms of a seedy tanning parlor in Verdun. Price was very low, only $ 65 for a regular facial, cash only… now i understand why. The first thing that struck me upon entering the room where my facial was performed was the appearance of unsanitary conditions. Nothing about this room screamed«you are going to have a relaxing spa like experience today». There was no real skin analysis, only some criticism about my skin being«rough» and«too dry“and having a «pimple». The entire time i was waiting for some skin care advice or valuable feedback, this never came. Skin cleaning was sloppy and felt rushed. She steamed my skin but proceeded to apply a freezing cold mask immediately after and leave the room for 15 minutes while i sat there in dark silence listening to what sounded like a party going on either in an adjacent unit or in the tanning salon. When she returned she sloppily removed the mask using gauze which she rung out over and over in a metal bowl. She then proceeded to attempt extractions, which she said she was having some difficulty with, no doubt because steaming had occurred about 20 minutes prior and I had been sitting there with a cold mask on my face. I’m no expert here but doesn’t cold close the pores? Ultrasound was used to loosen the sebum and she carried on with extractions. She applied a final mask and again left me in the dark for over 10 mins listening to the party. She returned and«removed» the mask, at this point the rubbing with gauze was actually quite uncomfortable, there was no feeling of care taken. She sloppily applied a few products to my face without explanation, fine. I could feel that half the time she missed parts of my face anyway. I got up and looked in the mirror only to ask her if she would be kind enough as to hand me a tissue so i could remove the mascara that was smeared all over my face. I thought that winding down a facial after extractions involves your skin being prepped for the outside world, clearly she didn’t care how i looked after. I paid cash and left. I have never had a facial that was so unrelaxing. The room was cold, the products smelled and felt cheap and the entire place had a dirty feel. The towels smelled of mildew and this is the smell I left with. Furthermore when i got home i noticed that there were traces of the blue mask and chunks of product left on my face. I guess that taking the time to actually properly remove and apply the products is asking too much. I have also never had a facial where the esthetician didn’t tend to the neck /décolletage area or massage the client to relax them while the products do their thing. She also answered her phone twice during my appointment and every time her phone would ring she would stop what she was doing to go check it. If you are looking to have a relaxing, spa like facial to treat yourself where you leave feeling good about the experience, I suggest you don’t book a facial here.

I had only had a few facials prior to seeing Alina but after one I was converted into someone who went for one every month. I went upon recommendation of a friend because the Montréal winter was wrecking havoc on my skin. I was so impressed with the experience and the results. I’m so glad I decided to go to Alina. Although it’s a bit of a trek out to Verdun from downtown Montréal is was so worth it. Alina is located in a small salon just down the street from the Metro station — its so unassuming you might even miss it. Her prices are so reasonable compared to some of the places in central Montréal. I guess that’s one of the benefits of being located in Verdun as opposed to downtown. Alina is fantastic. She takes her time and she is very professional and knowledgable. I didn’t know a lot about my skin type prior to visiting Alina but she does such a wonderful job of explaining ones skin type, the products she’s using and the process she goes through for the facial. The products she uses are wonderful. After a couple of professional facials with Alina, I decided to purchase some of the products for home use. Alina suggested which products would be good for my skin but she in no way pressured me to purchase them(which is sometimes happen when you go for a facial). The products are so affordable for the quality and I swear by them now(although they are much harder to find now that I’m no longer in the Montréal area). I have now left Montréal and I have not been able to find someone who does facials that I am as happy with as I was with Alina. It’s a shame because her facials were so good at such a reasonable price. I can’t justify spending what some of the places charge now so I’ve decided to discontinue my monthly facials which is unfortunate because my skin is not nearly in the same great condition it was when I was going to Alina.
