We had the butter chicken and beef korma and some nan. Portions were generous and food was tasty. The server was very personable. I’d definitely go back.

Best East Indian in town! Extremely wonderful staff plus the food is AMAZING. Very reasonable prices. I’ve been coming here with my family for years. Highly recommend!

Please consider my review before visiting this place as the chef here is totally out of mind . Such a worst restaurant I have ever been to. First time I have been here on January 182016 the restaurant was not open and due to some problem there were no staff but the open sign board was On and they don’t work according to timings provided in the Internet . Second time I visited the restaurant on Friday evening for dinner on 22jan2016 Ordered a chicken curry and Roti’s and mentioned spicy. I got my food delivered to table and there was no proper presentation of the food, to add some sarcasm they provided some hot sauce on the side and lady told she wants me to mix that hot sauce if I want to make it more spicy . Looks like chef was having a very long day as they used 1lb of chili powder in the curry. I started to eat and tears rolled down because of hotness seeing that another lady who works there came to my table and said sir mix some raita and eat so that u may feel better. What ever I somehow managed to come out of the restaurant As I came out of the restaurant my stomach is totally upset . And nobody came to the table with the bill. I had to walk to the counter and pay there . ****The best way of up selling raita . Don’t go with your family and kids . You have so many other Indian restaurants if u like to have some good time.

Ordered curries various for pickup. Pretty standard choices with naans, etc. Sadly, the food was almost inedible, both mine and my wife’s. Truly awful. Maybe it was a bad day. Had curry all over the world. Nothing like this.

Pretty decent indian food. Chefs can cook pretty good food just like in surrey. Butter chicken and naan is excellent. Lamb curry, tandoori chicken, biryani, everything ordered was excellent!

One of the best Indian restaurants I ever tried. It’s always hot and delicious. The curries are all about the same price, which makes it great for groups who like to share/try multiple dishes. The Samosas are huge and not dry at all(which to me they always are in other restaurants). They lose one star however because you have to buy the rice and naan separately, which I believe are essential items to Indian curry. This spikes the price a little bit. Other than that: Great food, great Service, great atmosphere.

Butter chicken is a bit like pizza and sex. Even when it’s bad it’s good but Amrikko’s goes a long way to disproving this. Far too much tomato and far too little cream. It wasn’t horrible since it’s hard to be horrible but it was easily, by miles, the worst butter chicken I’ve ever had. You won’t feel bad dipping your naan in it but you will want to contain your cravings till the next time you visit Vancouver. As weak as the butter chicken was the Aloo Gobi was even worse. Aloo Gobi should be thick, tender and redolent of spices but theirs was watery, firm(to the point of barely cooked) and weak of flavour. I ate enough for a meal and threw the rest out — there was no way I was going to touch the leftovers. Indian food in Victoria is terrible so I’m not surprised at the positive reviews here but good Indian food is so much better than the crap being served up here or any other place in Victoria. Bottle up your cravings and make a trip to Vancouver. Even the worst hole in the wall Indian restaurant there will be better than Amrikko’s.

The«$$» is close as each side dish costs money. I would say a dinner for two with no drinks is about $ 35. My girl and I ordered white rice, garlic Naan, Beef Spinach, and Chicken Coma. Each item seamed to be missing something. The rice was just rice, the beef was roast beef, and all the dishes were just one color. I have been to many other Indian places, and this one is fair.

The four stars is only for being the best Indian food in Victoria — that is all. Doesn’t compare to Vancouver/Surrey but at least it’s authentic and these guys know how to make Eggplant Bhartha. Try to order off menu — things like Chilli Chicken and Shahi Paneer are quite well done whereas the butter chicken seems to use an overdone tomato gravy. Surprise the chef with your order and they will do well!

I went to Amrikko’s with some friends a couple weeks ago and the food was fantastic. The beef vindaloo was so tender it just fell apart in your mouth. and the Spinach naan was delicious. The décor was nice and our waitress was very friendly. I can’t wait to eat here again.

The food is horrible. Very runny sauces, and they all tasted the same! Went in to pick up the food and was blown away with the amount of cologne the host was wearing too. Not even worthy of 1 star I’m afraid.

We just moved from Seattle, and I am missing many things there… I ordered food from here will mildly low expectations, not because of anything on their part, I just haven’t been blown away by restaurants here. That all being said… this is GOOD indian. The Korma is easily the best I have ever had. The Goan is quite good as well, we have it every time we order(about once a wk). The sauces are flavorful, creamy, and have just the right amt of spice… They would have gotten 5 stars except their Nan could be better, it is a bit too chewy for me.

After dining here last Thursday, I have reluctantly given Amrikko’s three stars. A rather disappointing experience all around. My wife and I love Indian cuisine and we were looking forward to a quality meal here. Without going into exhaustive detail suffice to say the whole thing was mediocre bordering on poor. Starter was an assorted plate which was plentiful but generally lacking in flavor. We ordered an assortment of mains(butter chicken, beef vindaloo, aloo gobie, spinach paneer, and lamb korma) There should have been a wide variety of flavours, textures and spice/heat to these dishes but they were all pretty much the same. The sauces could have come from a jar off the shelf of Thrifty’s. The beef vindaloo was particularly disappointing. No discernible heat. Last but not least was the spinach naan. It was greasy, doughy and heavy. I would love to have given this restaurant a rave review because that would mean we had finally found somewhere to enjoy good Indian food in Victoria. Sadly not the case. I would not recommend this place if you have any appreciation for real Indian food. :-(

I’ve been meaning to try this place ever since I started reading the excellent reviews here last year. There were four of us, each ordering a different dish and everybody loved their meal. I chose the chicken with spinach and one naan. It was really gooood. I loved the spinach sauce that the chicken was sitting in. I asked for it «hot» and it was perfectly«hot» where it made my mouth burn, but in a good way and I could still taste my food. There was a lot of garlic and other spices in it. Super yummy with the naan. Even the plain naan was really good, but my friends ordered the spinach naan and that looked amazing. I would have ordered it, but I was expecting something silly like lil bits of spinach mixed in with the dough where you can barely taste the spinach. Instead, their spinach naan was layered with a nice thick spread of it inside the naan. I am definitely gonna try that my next time round! Beef biryani was a very generous portion of rice and big pieces of beef and the butter chicken and lamb dish were completely finished off. My friends and I rolled in here on our motorcycles and at the end of the night it sparked a conversation with the owners and our server, who I’m guessing is their son. They’re really friendly and nice and I would definitely come back here again. I actually have thought about their restaurant every day since I went there so this definitely warrants a 5-star rating from me: D

I have been to some very nice Indian restaurants in my travels and it’s quite refreshing to have one of the finest just a few blocks away! Try the Tandoori, B. Chicken, and med spiced special rice as well as the authentic style garlic naan bread! Food — 9⁄10 Atmosphere — 10⁄10 Price– 10⁄10 You will not be disappointed!

Ok, I’m going bold here and giving this a full five stars, but keep these caveats in mind: *I haven’t eaten Indian Food anywhere other than in my own kitchen or Da Tandoor over the past year. *I am not Indian. *My wife is a vegetarian and we like to share Indian food, and thus I never eat meat at Indian restaurants. This is truly fine Indian food. Our Malai Kofta and Navrattan Korma came with rich, luxurious sauces — full of ghee and cream, but not too thick(and certainly not too thin). The Malai Kofta themselves were perfectly textured and fresh — crispy on the outside, but creamy on the inside. One of the owners mentioned that they make them every day. The vegetables in our Navrattan Korma were also crispy and fresh tasting. I look forward to trying the remainder of their vegetarian dishes. This branch of Amrikko’s is related to other restaurants of the same name in Nanaimo and Parksville.

Finally! Some decent Indian cuisine in Victoria. Disclaimer: this review is for the food only, we got take out. This is the best Indian food I’ve had in Victoria(no comparison to some places in Vancouver, but still quite good) I’d heard and read some good feedback about Amrikko’s so thought it was about time we tried it. We had the mango prawns, butter chicken, appy platter(pakoras samosas and tandoori chicken), rice and naan. Everything was much fresher than I’ve come to expect from Victoria’s limited Indian cuisine scene. Serving sizes were just fine, price was below most other places(how it is that you can spend about $ 30 on one order of butter chicken, some rice and naan at certain other lesser restaurants is beyond me, but thats what some of the other places charge). The flavours were very good. I could have gone with a bit more heat spice, but that’s just my personal preference(my fiancée would disagree). I also felt the flavours could have used a bit more oomph, but overall were above anything else I’ve been served in Victoria. My fiancée really liked her mango prawns, especially the sauce(and since we didn’t order enough rice, she began dipping her naan into it). The naan was huge, seriously, with most dishes you can probably get by with just one. I won’t go into detail, but again, everything in the appy platter was well above average and I was not disappointed with any element of the meal. Amrikko’s is going into my rotation and will be my new go-to Indian food restaurant. Unfortunately no delivery at this time. Update: went back another day and had the(hot) chicken tikka massala(very tasty) and the paneer pakoras — a must try item if you’re into that kind of thing.

What a pleasant surprise. Lately I have come to expect very little from Indian restaurants in Victoria. They all lack in customer service for some reason. Amrikko’s has a nice lively décor, customer friendly servers and a very delicious well priced menu. We ordered Palak Paneer, Dal Makhani, Malai Kofta with Tandoor Rotis and Naan. Everything was cooked to perfection and was very flavorful. Portion size was just right as well. Location also works well for customers on the west shore craving for Indian food. The food took some time to arrive, might be initial teething troubles. There are a lot of options for vegetarians to choose from. Apparently they also have belly dancing shows over the weekends. You might want to call them first to confirm.

This is the old Sammy’s building, and I wasn’t expecting too much from Amrikko’s. I was very pleasantly surprised — nice, considered atmosphere with refreshing colours and art, very good service, and scrumptious food. It’s not the best Indian food you’ll ever have, but it’s very well done, and better than average. Also — all the entrees were under $ 16! Note to other vegetarians: there are quite a few really good options. The samosas were delicious and accompanied by 2 unique and flavourful sauces.
