I had one of the most laughable customer service experiences of my life to date with Castle. I needed to replace my back door. I ordered a custom external steel door with the manager and was told the door would arrive at the end of the month, and that they would call mid-month to update me on the progress. They did not call me mid-month. I went in to check on the order, and found that they had lost the order entirely. «You picked it up!» Staff «Really? Then why am I hear to pick up the door? I don’t have the door, did you give it to someone else?» Me. The staff then looked through forms, looked up at the office, looked through some more forms and said they had no idea about my previous order. Good for some stuff, but if you’re not a contractor don’t know if you’ll get the service that makes Mom and Pop places like this fall to Home Depot

Not a bad local hardware store. Castle is just the right size, not some small Mom & Pop operation, but not some giant, evil corporate store either(yah, I’m talking about you Home Depot). I had an okay time there, they had everything that I was looking for and their staff were friendly enough. The only down side was all of their tools are in locked display cases. I understand the rational behind this, but it makes it a lot harder to compare products when you can’t look at the packages. It was also a bit of a pain to try and find somebody to actually open the case, but then again I came in on a Saturday afternoon so I’ll cut them some slack. I’ll be a return customer for sure, as it’s nice to support the smaller guys and they’re within walking distance from my apartment so that’s a big plus too.
